A nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAchR) isolated from the electric tissues of Torpedo californica has been reconstituted into a vesicle comprising a bifunctional azo-ligand (Bae 1) compound, and a liposome containing phospholipids and cholesterol (1 : 1, w/w). The liposome-mediated reconstituted receptor showed a concentration-dependent response to cholinergic drugs in a lithium ion flux assay. This liposome-mediated reconstituted nAchR was immobilized onto an electrode using various synthetic polymers which were tested for their response to the cholinergic ligands. The immobilized nAchR not only exhibited a linear response to a wide range of cholinergic ligand concentrations but also retained an operational stability which lasted for longer than 6 days. Thus, this result provides a basis for application of the immobilized nAchR-based biosensor in detecting cholinergic ligands in vitro.

N/A Background/Aims: The early gastric cancer has been defined as that in which the depth of invasion is limited to the submucosa regardless of the lymph node(LN) metastasis. However, in the carcinoma of extrahepatic bile duct, the definition of early cancer may be different, because of the differences of histologic features such as lacking of muscularis mucosa and submucosal layer. Recently, Mizumoto et al. Proposed the definition of extrahepatic bile duct cancer, in which invasion limited to mucosa and fibromuscular layer, however there have been no data in Korea. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of early carcinoma of extrahepatic bile duct in Korea. Methods: We evaluated the 60 cases underwent radical operation due to extrahepatic bile duct carcinoma at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University from January l980 to December 1993. Results: The invasion limited to the mucosa(Tla) was noted in 2 cases(3.3%), fibromuscular layer(Tlb) in 11 cases(18.4%), adventitia of fibromuscular layer and serosa(T2) in 22 cases(36.77c) and invasion of adjacent organ(T3) in 25 cases(41.6%). The LN metastasis was found in 16 cases(26.7%). No LN metastasis was noted in Tl, however in T2 the LN metastasis was found in 27.3%(all Nl) and 40.0%(N1: 4 cases, N2: 6 cases) in T3. All cases of Tl but one who recurred at 16 months after surgery survived without recurrence. Disease-free survival according to the T stages were: in Tl, 100%, 90.9%, 90.9% at l, 3, and 5 year, respectively; in T2, 80%, 56% and 37%, respectively; in T3, 83%, 58%, 58%, respectively. The survival rate of Tl was significantly higher than that of T2 and T3(p=0.03). The mean survival in patients of T2 without LN metastasis was 50.5 months, which was longer than that of 38.7 months in cases of T2 with LN metastasis. Multivariate analysis revealed that the depth of invasion was the only significant prognostic factor. The polypoid type and papillary adenocarcinoma were frequently encountered in early cancer comparing advanced cancer. Conclusions: Early cancer of the extrahepatic bile duct could be defined as the tumor invaion restricted to the mucosa and fibromuscular layer. (Korean J Gastroenterol 1995;27:690 - 699)

인공 고관절 전치환술 후 편측성 하지 부종의 흔한 원인으로 심부 정맥 혈전, 만성 정맥 부전 등이 잘 알려져 있으며, 드물게 감염이나 종양에 의해서도 발생할 수 있다. 인공 고관절 전치환술 후 발생한 골반내 육아종성 종괴로 인한 편측성 심부 정맥 혈전이나 하지 부종은 흔하지 않은 합병증이다. 저자들은 인공 고관절 전치환술 후 발생한 골반내 육아종성 종괴에 의한 심부 정맥 혈전과 편측 하지 부종 1예를 경험하였기에, 이러한 드문 합병증에 대하여 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. The usual causes of unilateral lower extremity swelling after total hip arthroplasty include deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency and less frequently an infection or a neoplasm. Unilateral deep vein thrombosis or swelling of the lower extremity due to an intrapelvic granulomatous mass after total hip arthroplasty is quite unusual. We report a rare case of a patient with an intrapelvic granulomatous mass causing deep vein thrombosis and unilateral lower leg swelling after total hip arthroplasty with a review of the relevant literature.

몇가지의 알파입자를 방출하는 핵종, 즉 악티늄족 원소들, $^{207}Bi$ and $^{210}Po$을 전해석출하는 장치를 만들었다. 스텐레스 원판으로된 환원전극에 이 동위원소들을 석출했으며(석출부분 직경=18mm), 산화전극으로는 백금선을 썼다. 전해질로 염화암모늄을 쓰고, 초기 pH=4, 염소이온농도=0.6M이하, 용액부피=15ml로 하여 1.5암페어(전류밀도=0.59A/$cm^2$)의 전류를 100분간 흘려주어 98.3%의 석출 회수율과 ${\pm}$0.7%의 재현도를 얻었다. 석출된 시료의 알파스펙트럼을 측정한 결과 에너지 분리도로서 $^{210}Po=18.3keV, ^{234}U=21.8keV$ 및 $^{239}Pu=36.0keV$인 반치전폭(full width at half maximum)을 얻었다. 국산 천연우라늄(충북·괴산) 시료를 전해석출하여 그의 알파스펙트럼을 구한 결과 $^{238}U\;:\;^{234}U\;=\;:\;6.1{\times}10^{-5}$을 얻었으며 $1.8{\sim}10^{13} neutrons/cm^2{\cdot}sec$인 중성자속으로 144일 동안 쪼여준 238U 시료를 전해석출하여 그의 알파스펙트럼을 구한 결과 $^{238}U\;:\;^{239}Pu\;:\;241Am\;=\;100\;:\;0.0263\;:\;5.20{\times}10^{-5}$을 얻었다. 조사시료중의 $^{238}U$에 대한 본실험의 정량결과는 고체형광측정법 및 질량 스펙트럼법에 의한 결과들과 상대오차 1.6% 이내에서 일치하였으며, $^{239}Pu$의 경우는 음이온교환분리-알파스펙트럼 측정 및 삼불화테노일아세톤(thenoyltrifluoroacetone)을 쓴 용매추출-알파스펙트럼 측정에 의한 정량결과들과 상대오차 ${\pm}$4.0%이내에서 일치하였다. An apparatus was made for the electrodeposition of alpha emitting actinide nuclides, $^{207}Bi$ and $^{210}Po$. The electrodeposition was made on a polished stainless steel plate cathode. The anode was made of platinum wire and to stir the solution. With the ammonium chloride as electrolyte initial pH = 4, chloride concentration = 0.6M and solution volume = 15ml, a current of 1.5 ampere(current density = 0.59A/$cm^2$) was flowed for 100 minutes for the quantitative recovery of electrodeposition and on average recovery of 98.3% was obtained within ${\pm}$0.7% uncertainty. Alpha spectrometry of the electrodeposited sample showed alpha peaks from $^{210}Po, ^{234}U$ and $^{239}Pu$ having energy resolution (FWHM) of 18.3, 21.8 and 36.0 keV respectively. The electrodeposition and alpha spectrometry for a natural uranium sample of domestic origin gave $^{238}U : ^{234}U = 1 : 6.1{\times}10^{-5}$ and for a neutron-irradiated uranium sample did $^{238}U : ^{239}Pu : ^{241}Am = 100 : 0.0263 : 5.20{times}10^{-5}$. The result of $^{238}U$ determination in the irradiated sample by electrodeposition-alpha spectrometry was in accord within ${\pm}1.6%$ of relative error with the results of solid fluorimetry and mass spectrometry. For $^{239}Pu$ the result of electrodeposition-alpha spectrometry was in accord within ${\pm}$4.0% of relative error with the results of anion exchange separation and the thenoyltrifluoroacetone(TTA) extraction both followed by alpha spectrometries.
