      • Lithium-ion capacitors with 2D Nb2CTx (MXene) – carbon nanotube electrodes

        Byeon, Ayeong,Glushenkov, Alexey M.,Anasori, Babak,Urbankowski, Patrick,Li, Jingwen,Byles, Bryan W.,Blake, Brian,Van Aken, Katherine L.,Kota, Sankalp,Pomerantseva, Ekaterina,Lee, Jae W.,Chen, Ying,Gog Elsevier 2016 Journal of Power Sources Vol.326 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>There is a growing interest to hybrid energy storage devices, such as lithium-ion capacitors, in which battery-type electrodes are combined with capacitor-type ones. It is anticipated that the energy density (either gravimetric or volumetric) of lithium-ion capacitors is improved if pseudocapacitive or fast insertion materials are used instead of conventional activated carbon (AC) in the capacitor-type electrode. MXenes, a new family of two-dimensional transition metal carbides, demonstrate metallic conductivity and fast charge-discharge behavior that make them suitable for this application. In this study, we move beyond single electrodes, half-cell studies and demonstrate three types of hybrid cells using Nb2CTx–carbon nanotube (CNT) films. It is shown that lithiated graphite/Nb2CTx-CNT, Nb2CTx-CNT/LiFePO4 and lithiated Nb2CTx-CNT/Nb2CTx-CNT cells are all able to operate within 3 V voltage windows and deliver capacities of 43, 24 and 36 mAh/g (per total weight of two electrodes), respectively. Moreover, the polarity of the electrodes can be reversed in the symmetric Nb2CTx-CNT cells from providing a positive potential between 0 and 3 V to a negative one from −3 to 0 V. It is shown that the volumetric energy density (50–70 Wh/L) of our first-generation devices with MXene electrodes exceeds that of a lithium titanate/AC capacitor.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> 3 types of lithium-ion capacitors using Nb2CTx-CNT as one electrode were tested. </LI> <LI> The highest volumetric energy density of 50–70 Wh/L was achieved. </LI> <LI> Energy density of symmetric cell exceeds that of lithium titanate/activated carbon. </LI> <LI> The lithiated graphite/Nb2CTx-CNT shows the highest gravimetric performance. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Adaptive Dynamic Sliding Mode Control of Coupled-Inductor Single-Input Dual-Output Buck Converters Based on Inverse System Theory

        Li Jiyong,Feng Duanzheng,Pi Benquan,Li Jingwen,Liu Bin 대한전기학회 2023 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.18 No.4

Despite the advantages of coupled-inductor single-input dual-output (CI-SIDO) DC-DC converter like small ripple, small size, and high efficiency, the coupling of inductor current leads to problems such as output cross-regulation. In order to reduce the cross-influence between the output branches for better dynamic performance of the system, this paper analyzes the reversibility of CI-SIDO Buck converters based on the inverse system theory, which constructs the inverse system in series with the original one to obtain two single-input single-output pseudo-linear subsystems to linearize and decouple the system. The adaptive dynamic sliding mode controller is also designed, and its performance is evaluated through simulations and experiments. The results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control strategy to the traditional proportional-integral (PI) control method in terms of dynamic regulation performance and robustness.

      • Determinants of Switching Behavior of New Energy Vehicles in China: Evidence from Subjective Norms

Jingwen Wu,Menghua Li,Sok-Tae Kim The International Academy of Global Business and T 2023 The International Academy of Global Business and T Vol.19 No.5

Purpose - This study investigates the determinants of the switching behavior of new energy vehicles in China. With the help of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and technology acceptance model (TAM), the moderating effect of subjective norms is discussed. Design/Methodology/Approach - We develop and test conceptual models using data collected from 240 respondents in China. Then, SPSS 25.0, AMOS 21.0, PROCESS v3.3, and SmartPLS 4.0.9.2 were used for empirical tests. Findings - The results show that perceived risk has a significant negative impact on switching intention, while perceived value and perceived ease of use have a significant positive impact on switching intention. Switching intention has a significant positive impact on user switching behavior. In addition, social identity has a positive correlation effect on attitude toward switching. Moreover, subjective norms have a moderating effect on the relationship between perceived risk, social identity, perceived value, perceived ease of use, and switching intention. Research Implications - The theoretical significance of this study lies in the technology acceptance model (TAM), theory of planned behavior (TPB), and the theory of perceived risk, perceived value, and social identity are introduced into the model to expand the model. Its practical significance is to provide feasible suggestions for the new energy automobile industry to meet user expectations, playing a guiding and reference role for the subsequent rise of renewable energy cars, and promoting the outlawing of fuel-powered autos and the sustainable development of renewable energy vehicles.

        Li Dong,Xiaoling Ma,Mengfei Wang,Dan Zhu,Yuebiao Feng,Yi Zhang,Jingwen Wang 대한기생충학열대의학회 2018 The Korean Journal of Parasitology Vol.56 No.5

Triatoma rubrofasciata is a wide-spread vector of Chagas disease in Americas. In this study, we completed the mitochondrial genome sequencing of T. rubrofasciata. The total length of T. rubrofasciata mitochondrial genome was 17,150 bp with the base composition of 40.4% A, 11.6% G, 29.4% T and 18.6% C. It included 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and one control region. We constructed a phylogenetic tree on the 13 protein-coding genes of T. rubrofasciata and other 13 closely related species to show their phylogenic relationship. The determination of T. rubrofasciata mitogenome would play an important role in understanding the genetic diversity and evolution of triatomine bugs.

Tunable paclitaxel release carrier using diselenide-disulfide balance as regulator

        Jingwen Xu,Xiangji Yan,Yue Zhang,Kangsheng Tu,Wen Shen,Zhaoqing Tian,Guoliang Li,Wei Zhao,Mingzhen Zhang 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.109 No.-

There are many reasons that lead to the failure of cancer chemotherapy, such as uncontrolled drugrelease, low drug utilization, and severe side effects. To overcome these obstacles, two kinds of thermaland redox-responsive copolymers with multiple diselenide/disulfide linkages, polyethylene glycol -altdiselenodipropionate/disulfhydryldipropionate-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (abbreviated as PEG-alt-DSeDP-b-PNIPAM and PEG-alt-DSDP-b-PNIPAM) were fabricated by alternative esterification and followingatom transfer radical polymerization. Afterward, these prepared copolymers were mixed in line withthe mass ratio of 8:0, 5:3, 3:5, 0:8 (denoted as S1, S2, S3, and S4, respectively), and self-assembled withpaclitaxel (PTX) to obtain PTX-loaded S1, S2, S3, and S4 nanomicellar assemblies, aiming to realize PTXtunable release using diselenide-disulfide balance as regulator. The chemical structures of these twocopolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, indicating eight diselenide/disulfidelinkages and eight PEG units were contained in these copolymers. Moreover, the thermal-responsiveproperty was detected by UV–vis spectroscopy, meanwhile, the redox responsiveness was observed byTEM in the presence of 10 mM glutathione. We found that 76.90% of PTX was released from S1 nanomicelleswithin 23 h. In contrast, this percentage decreased to 64.53% for S4 nanomicelles even the incubationtime prolonged, indicating explosive and slow release behaviors of S1 and S4 nanomicelles, respectively. In addition, gradually decreased fluorescence intensity around the cellular nucleus wasoccurred from S1 to S4 orderly, which was consistent with cellular uptake and in vivo anti-tumor experiments. Taken together, this work not only provides a strategy for tunable PTX release, but also improveseffectiveness of PTX in cancer treatment.

Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1α Plays a Critical Role in <i>PCSK9</i> Gene Transcription and Regulation by the Natural Hypocholesterolemic Compound Berberine

Li, Hai,Dong, Bin,Park, Sahng Wook,Lee, Hyun-Sook,Chen, Wei,Liu, Jingwen American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Bi 2009 The Journal of biological chemistry Vol.284 No.42

<P>PCSK9 is a natural inhibitor of LDL receptor (LDLR) that binds the extracellular domain of LDLR and triggers its intracellular degradation. <I>PCSK9</I> and <I>LDLR</I> are coordinately regulated at the transcriptional level by sterols through their promoter-imbedded sterol response elements (SRE) and co-induced by statins. Identification of regulatory networks modulating <I>PCSK9</I> transcription is important for developing selective repressors of PCSK9 to improve statin efficacy by prolonging the up-regulation of LDLR. Interestingly, the plant-derived hypocholesterolemic compound berberine (BBR) up-regulates LDLR expression while down-regulating PCSK9. In our investigations to define mechanisms underlying the transcriptional suppression of <I>PCSK9</I> by BBR in HepG2 cells, we have identified a highly conserved hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 (HNF1) binding site residing 28 bp upstream from SRE as a critical sequence motif for <I>PCSK9</I> transcription and its regulation by BBR. Mutation of the HNF1 site reduced <I>PCSK9</I> promoter activity >90%. A battery of functional assays identified HNF1α as the predominant trans-activator for <I>PCSK9</I> gene working through this sequence motif. We further provide evidence suggesting that HNF1 site works cooperatively with SRE as HNF1 mutation significantly attenuated the activity of nuclear SREBP2 to transactivate <I>PCSK9</I> promoter. Finally, we show that a coordinate modest reduction of HNF1α and nuclear SREBP2 by BBR led to a strong suppression of <I>PCSK9</I> transcription through these two critical regulatory sequences. This is the first described example of SREBP pairing with HNF1 to control an important regulatory pathway in cholesterol homeostasis. This work also provides a mechanism for how BBR suppresses <I>PCSK9</I> transcription.</P>

        Li, Feng,Zhang, Jingwen,Arfuso, Frank,Chinnathambi, Arunachalam,Zayed, M E,Alharbi, Sulaiman Ali,Kumar, Alan Prem,Ahn, Kwang Seok,Sethi, Gautam Springer-Verlag 2015 Archives of toxicology Vol.89 No.5

<P>The transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) has attracted increasing attention in the field of cancer research from last few decades. Aberrant activation of this transcription factor is frequently encountered in a variety of solid tumors and hematological malignancies. NF-kappa B family members and their regulated genes have been linked to malignant transformation, tumor cell proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, invasion/metastasis, and therapeutic resistance. In this review, we highlight the diverse molecular mechanism(s) by which the NF-kappa B pathway is constitutively activated in different types of human cancers, and the potential role of various oncogenic genes regulated by this transcription factor in cancer development and progression. Additionally, various pharmacological approaches employed to target the deregulated NF-kappa B signaling pathway, and their possible therapeutic potential in cancer therapy is also discussed briefly.</P>
