Five pentacyclic triterpenoids, oleanolic acid (1), hederagenin (2), ursolic acid (3), tormentic acid (4) and myrianthic acid (5), were isolated from the methanol extract of the leaves of Campsis grandiflora, and structures of the compounds were established by the spectroscopic methods. Compounds 2, 3, 4, and 5 were isolated for the first time from the genus Campsis. All of the compounds ($IC_{50}$: 45.3, 32.8, 82.6, 42.9 and $46.2{\mu}M$ respectively) were as equivalently inhibitive as acetylsalicylic acid ($IC_{50}:57.0{\mu}M$) on epinephrine induced platelet aggregation.

<P> Studies on the fruits of Evodia officinalis yielded a new quinazolinedione alkaloid, wuchuyuamide III (1), together with known alkaloids, goshuyuamide II (2), evodiamine and rutaecarpine. Their structures were elucidated by means of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analysis. Wuchuyuamide III (1) and goshuyuamide II (2) showed modest cytotoxicity against HeLa and HT1080 cell lines.</P>

ProRoot MTA의 단점을 보완하기 위한 mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)의 다양한 변형제품이 개발되고 있다. 본 연구는 새로운 MTA제품들의 경화시간, 압축강도, 용해도 및 pH 특성을 ProRoot MTA의 물성과 비교하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 ProRoot MTA (Dentsply, USA)를 포함하여 Ortho MTA (BioMTA, Korea), Retro MTA (BioMTA, Korea), 그리고 Endocem MTA (Maruchi, Korea), 이렇게 총 4종의 상용 MTA제품에 대해 평가하였다. 경화시간과 압축강도는 ISO 9917 방법에 따라, 용해도는 ISO 6876 방법에 따라 평가하였으며, pH는 고체시편 전용전극이 연결된 수소이온측정기를 이용하여 측정하였다. Endocem MTA과 Retro MTA의 경화시간은 다른 두 제품들의 경화시간에 비해 유의하게 짧았다(p<0.05). Retro MTA와 ProRoot MTA의 압축강도는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았고(p>0.05), 이들은 다른 두 제품들에 비해 유의하게 높은 압축강도를 보였다(p<0.05). Endocem MTA는 모든 측정시간 대에 가장 낮은 값을 보였으며, 7일째에 유의한 강도증가를 보였다(p<0.05). Ortho MTA의 용해도 (2.393±0.685%)는 실험제품 중 가장 높았으나, 실험제품 모두 ISO표준의 용해도 허용기준인 3%보다 낮아 적합하였다. 실험제품 모두 강알칼리성의 pH값(10~13)을 보였으며, 경화시간이 길어짐에 따라 알칼리성은 감소하였다. Endocem MTA는 혼합 후 10분, 3시간, 6시간 측정 값 모두 실험군 중 가장 낮은 pH값을 보였다 (p<0.05). Retro MTA와 Endocem MTA는 경화시간이 짧아 향상된 물성을 보였고, 알칼리성이 높고 용해도가 낮아서 압축강도가 크게 요구되지 않는 임상케이스에서 단일방문 시술에 사용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
Chemical Constituents of the Aerial Parts of Chloranthus japonicus Sieb

Chemical investigation of the aerial parts of Chloranthus japonicus Sieb. led to the isolation a newcompound, 9-hydroxy heterogorgiolide (1) and isofraxidin-7-O- -D-glucopyranoside (2), the isolation of which isreported for the first time from this plant, along with the known components, β-sitosterol, β-sitosterol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, palmitic acid and octacosanoic acid. The structures of compound 1 and 2 were determined onthe basis of spectroscopic data including two dimensional NMR and high resolution MS.

The maple poison moth (MPM), Lymantria nebulosa (Wileman), is a Lepidopteran defoliator and one of the most important pests of Liquidambar formosana Hance. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of temperature on the population growth and reproduction of this species. MPM were raised in artificial climate chambers in a laboratory at 21 ± 1°C, 24 ± 1°C, 27 ± 1°C, 30 ± 1°C, 33 ± 1°C and 36 ± 1°C, under a relative humidity (RH) of 70% ± 10% and a 14 L:10D photoperiod, and age-stage, two-sex life tables complied for insects at each temperature. The developmental duration, adult preoviposition period and overall preoviposition period decreased with temperature in a time-dependent manner. The growth curves of the different temperature groups overlapped considerably. The highest larval survival rate (80%) was recorded at 30 ± 1°C. At 36°C only a few eggs hatched and the first instar could not complete the first molt. We consequently regard 36°C as the lethal temperature threshold for this species. Life expectancy decreased with age under all six temperatures. The endogenous growth rate was significantly lower at 21 ± 1°C than at the other temperatures, and was highest in 30 ± 1°C group. The net growth rate of the 30 ± 1°C group was also significantly higher than others. Reproductive parameters were highest at 27 ± 1°C and 30 ± 1°C. Although environmental factors absent from the laboratory environment may limit the generality of our results, they nonetheless provide a theoretical basis for developing integrated control methods for MPM in the wild.
Association of TERT rs2736098 Polymorphism with Cancer Risk: a Meta-analysis

Studies have reported an association between the TERT rs2736098 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and cancer susceptibility, but the results remain inconclusive. Toprovide a more precise estimation of the relationship, a meta-analysis of 8 published studies including 8,070 cases and 10,239 controls was performed. Stratification by sample size, genotyping method, source of controls and ethnicity were used to explore the source of heterogeneity. In the overall analysis, no significant association was found between the TERT rs2736098 polymorphism and cancer risk. However, the result showed the rs2736098 was significantly associated with an increased cancer risk and the heterogeneity was effectively decreased for homozygote comparison by removal of two studies: OR = 1.337 (95% CI = 1.183-1.511; Pheterogeneity = 0.087). In the subgroup analysis by ethnicity, a significantly increased risk of cancers was found among Asians (OR = 1.413, 95% CI = 1.187-1.683 for AA versus GG). Our meta-analysis did not show that the TERT rs2736098 plays an important role in cancer risk. More studies with larger sample size and well-matched controls are needed to confirm the findings.
Three new sesquiterpene lactones from Inula britannica

One new 1,10-secoeudesmanolide (1), twoeudesmanolides (2 and 3), together with nine knowncompounds (4–12) were isolated from the aerial parts ofInula britannica. The structures of the new compoundswere elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis,including HRESIMS and 2D-NMR spectroscopic method. In addition, compounds 1–4 were tested for their inhibitoryeffects against LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7macrophages.

Purpose The presentations and geographic incidence of pediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) differ from those of adults. This study delineated the characteristics and outcomes of pediatric NHL in East Asia. Materials and Methods Medical records of 749 pediatric patients with NHL treated at participating institutions in mainland China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan from January 2008 to December 2013 were reviewed. Demographic and clinical features, survival outcomes, and putative prognostic factors were analyzed. Results Five hundred thirty patients (71%) were male. The most common pathologic subtypes were Burkitt lymphoma (BL) (36%). Six hundred seven patients (81%) had advanced diseases at diagnosis. The 5-year overall survival and event-free survival (EFS) rates were 89% and 84%. The 5-year EFS rates of BL, lymphoblastic lymphoma, and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma were 88%, 88%, and 89%, and those of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) and peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) were 71% and 56% (p < 0.001). Central nervous system involvement, high lactate dehydrogenase level (> 250 IU/mL), and advanced disease at diagnosis ( stage III) were associated with poor outcomes (p < 0.05). ALCL and PTCL relapsed more frequently than other pathologic subtypes (p < 0.001). Conclusion In East Asia, PTCL was more frequent than in Western countries, and bone marrow involvement did not affect treatment outcome. This international study should motivate future collaborative study on NHL in East Asia.
