Purpose - COVID-19 has dramatically changed the business landscape, and the travel industry is no exception. The industry is undergoing a paradigm shift to the platform business, and traditional travel agencies are moving their businesses to online platforms. However, in this irreversible global paradigm shift, it is not easy for travel companies to hire and retain employees, especially companies in the IT sector. Studies typically study consumers, such as selection attributes and satisfaction with travel platforms. However, to the best of our knowledge, there have been almost no studies on employees. This study explored how the empowerment of online travel platform employees influences their perceived person-environment (P-E) fit and work engagement. Design/Methodology/Approach - We analyzed data from 352 employees of 26 domestic online travel platforms who were surveyed in January and February 2021. After coding the collected data, we analyzed it using frequency, exploratory factor, reliability, correlation, and multiple regression analyses using IBM SPSS Statistics, ver. 20.0. Findings - First, enhancing the meaningfulness of work and organizational autonomy influences personjob (P-J) fit and person-organization (P-O) fit. Second, enhancing the meaningfulness of work significantly influences vigor, dedication, and absorption in terms of work engagement, while organizational autonomy significantly influences work engagement vigor. Third, P-J fit and P-O fit influence the vigor of work engagement, and P-O fit influences dedication and absorption. Research Implications - This study demonstrated that the empowerment of travel platform employees can improve perceived P-E fit and work engagement. Thus, if organizations guarantee some degree of empowerment, employees will be energized and engaged more in their workplace. Finally, this helps expand the scope of online travel platform research from the perspective of personnel organization.
Clinical Significance of the Detection of Antinuclear Antibodies in Patients with Acute Hepatitis A

Background/Aims: The findings of several recent studies suggest that antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are frequently detected in patients with acute hepatitis A (AHA). However, the clinical significance of a positive ANA test remains uncertain. This study was performed to evaluate the clinical significance of ANAs in AHA patients. Methods: All patients admitted with AHA were consecutively enrolled in this study. An ANA assay was performed by indirect immunofluorescence during hospitalization. ANA positivity was defined as an ANA titer ≥1:80. The peak international normalized ratio (INR), peak alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and peak bilirubin levels were assessed over the duration of the hospitalization, and the incidence of AHA complications was evaluated. Results: A total of 422 patients were enrolled in this study (age, 31±7 years), of which 260 (61.6%) were men. ANAs were detected in 179 AHA patients (42.4%). The proportion of ANA-positive patients varied significantly with AHA status on the day of the ANA assay (4.7% during the prodromal period vs 52.1% during the icteric or recovery period, p<0.001) and sex (56.2% in women vs 33.8% in men, p<0.001). The ANAs became undetectable in all ANA-positive patients within 3 months. The incidence of complications, including mortality, fulminant hepatic failure, renal dysfunction, relapse, and cholestatic hepatitis, did not differ significantly between ANA-positive and ANA-negative patients. Conclusions: ANAs were detected frequently and transiently in patients with AHA, especially after their peak-ALT day. The presence of ANAs may not be associated with the clinical outcome of AHA, but simply with AHA status on the ANA assay day. (Gut Liver 2011;5:340-347)

<P>Abstract</P><P>Background/Aims</P><P>Serum creatinine (Cr) is not a reliable marker for early detection of renal dysfunction in patients with cirrhotic ascites. Several reports have suggested that cystatin C (CysC) is more sensitive than Cr for detecting reduced renal function in these patients. This study evaluated the clinical significance of CysC in patients with cirrhotic ascites and a normal serum Cr level.</P><P>Methods</P><P>We enrolled patients with ascites and a normal serum Cr level (<1.2 mg/dl). Liver function tests, international normalized ratio (INR) and serum Cr and CysC levels were measured on the same day for all patients. CysC levels were measured using the automated latex-enhanced immunonephelometric method. The endpoint of follow-up was the development of hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) or mortality.</P><P>Results</P><P>Seventy-eight patients with cirrhotic ascites were enrolled in the study (58 men and 30 women; age, 53±11 years). The underlying liver diseases in these patients were chronic hepatitis B (37%), chronic hepatitis C (4%), alcoholic liver disease (53%) and others (6%). Forty-six (59%) and 32 (41%) patients were in Child–Pugh classes B and C respectively. HRS developed in 14 patients during the follow-up period (349±241 days), with cumulative incidences of 10.2% and 20.4% at 6 and 12 months respectively. The CysC level was the only independent predictive factor for HRS. Twenty-three patients died during the follow-up period. CysC level and INR were independent factors for predicting mortality.</P><P>Conclusion</P><P>Serum CysC level is a good marker for predicting HRS and survival in patients with cirrhotic ascites and a normal Cr level.</P>

The second-order rate constants ($k_N$) have been measured spectrophotometrically for nucleophilic substitution reactions of Y-substituted-phenyl 2-methylbenzoates (6a-e) with a series of cyclic secondary amines in MeCN at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. Comparison of the $k_N$ values for the reactions of 4-nitrophenyl 2-methylbenzoate (6d) with those reported previously for the corresponding reactions of 4-nitrophenyl 2-methoxybenzoate (5) reveals that 6d is significantly less reactive than 5, indicating that modification of 2-MeO in the benzoyl moiety of 5 by 2-Me (i.e., $5{\rightarrow}6d$) causes a significant decrease in reactivity. This supports our previous report that aminolysis of 5 proceeds through a six-membered cyclic intermediate, which is highly stabilized through intramolecular H-bonding interactions. The Br${\o}$nsted-type plot for the reactions of 6d with a series of cyclic secondary amines is linear with ${\beta}_{nuc}=0.71$, which appears to be a lower limit of ${\beta}_{nuc}$ for a stepwise mechanism with breakdown of an intermediate ($T^{\pm}$) being rate-determining step (RDS). The Br${\o}$nsted-type plot for the reactions of 6a-e with piperidine is curved, i.e., the slope of Br${\o}$nsted-type plot (${\beta}_{lg}$) decreases from -1.05 to -0.41 as the leaving-group basicity decreases. The nonlinear Br${\o}$nsted-type plot has been taken as evidence for a stepwise mechanism with a change in RDS (e.g., from the $k_2$ step to the $k_1$ process as the leaving-group basicity decreases). Dissection of $k_N$ into the microscopic rate constants associated with the reactions of 6a-e with piperidine (e.g., $k_1$ and $k_2/k_{-1}$ ratio) also supports the proposed mechanism.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Electro-spun regenerated silk webs have been extensively studied for biomedical applications because of the simplicity of their fabrication methods However, the productivity of the electro-spinning process is low for web fabrication and the mechanical properties of the electro-spun silk web are not satisfactory, which restricts its commercialization. In this study, a new silk non-woven fabric was successfully fabricated by wetting and hot press treatments using the excellent binding characteristic of sericin. The effects of the press temperature and residual sericin content on the preparation, structure, and properties of the silk non-woven fabric were examined. A press temperature of 200°C was optimum for obtaining non-woven fabrics with best mechanical properties, without yellowing. The silk non-woven fabric could not be fabricated without sericin, and a minimum of 8% sericin was required to fabricate it. As the sericin content was increased, the strength and Young’s modulus of the silk non-woven fabric increased, while the tensile elongation remained constant. Regardless of the press temperature and sericin content, all the silk non-woven fabrics showed good cell viability, comparable to that of the tissue culture plate (TCP) used as a control until 4days, which however decreased compared to that of TCP after 7days.</P>
