Background: Endotoxemia from a gram negative bacterial infection is a dangerous condition, which may progress to systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Inflammatory cells activated by endotoxins generate oxidants and cytokines such as TNF-α, which in turn stimulate macrophages and neutrophils, and augmented inflammation makes systemic tissue injury deteriorate into multi-organ failure. This study is designed to evaluate the therapeutic antioxidant. Methods : Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups: a control group, a group injected intraperitoneally with LPS (lipopolysaccharide), and a group injected intraperitoneally with LPS and growth hormone. Eight rats of each group were sacrified 24 hours and 48 hours after injection, and samples of blood, liver, and lung were obtained. Biochemical assays of the TNF-αlevel in the blood and of the malondialdehyde (MDA) level, the catalase activity, and the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity in liver and lung tissues were performed. Results: The serum TNF-αlevel, the tissue lipid peroxidation, and the tissue I-NOS activity were dramatically increased, and the tissue catalase activity was exhausted rapidly in sepsis. Growth hormone injection decreased the serum TNF-αlevel, the tissue lipid peroxidation, and the tissue I-NOS induction, and protected against catalase exhaustion. Conclusion: Growth hormone was proved to decrease TNF-αlevel and to have an antioxidant effect in septic condition. Clinical use of growth hormone in sepsis should be considered.

For precision control of Induction Motor with Voltage Source PWM Inverter, the current component should be converted into the voltage one. We are in difficulties for precision control with simple current feedback control because of the oscillation in system and torque ripple on high speed rotation and transient switching resulted from the disturbance which is generated by the mutual interference between d-axis and q-axis during conversion. This paper propose linearized Decoupling Control Theory in Field-Oriented Control and presents controllable system with Microcomputer software in the whole control system. In addition, by experiment it is proved that the system is controlled well in both steady and transient states. The proposed system is expected to be applied in industrial AC Servo System.

Recently, the vector controlled induction motors are widely used in the industrial AC servo system requiring high accuracy and fast response. However, in the conventional vector control, by using of speed sensors for speed information of the motor, the system design has been restricted. This paper proposes te vector control system based on speed estimation controls motor speed by estimating angular speed of secondary flux linkages from voltage equations of induction motor without speed and voltage sensor. To stabilize the control system for estimation, the ??-axis flux keeps to zero by the compensation control method with state feedback. In addition, the whole control system is designed to be controlled by software in microcomputer. Computer simulations domonstrates that the control characteristics of the proposed vector control system based on speed estimation are satisfactory in both dynamic performance and accuracy.

The objective of this research was to investigate the changes in the contents of physicochemical properties including γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), total dietary fiber (TDF), amylose, protein, and fat content in brown rice through germination for 2 different years. Total phenolic contents and antioxidant activities of DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging capacities were also determined in different solvent extracts. For the physicochemical properties, GABA, TDF, protein, and fat content increased, whereas amylose levels decreased. Specially, GABA and TDF levels showed the greatest variations among cultivars and harvest years. Total phenolic content and antioxidant activity significantly increased. The average total phenolic content at a concentration of 0.5 ㎎/mL in different extract solvents occurred in this order: methanol>ethylacetate>chloroform>hexane extracts. Additionally, 'Keunnun' exhibited the highest GABA levels, highest total phenolic content, and highest antioxidant activity after germination, with increases of approximately 3.7, 2.0, and 1.9 times, respectively, compared to levels before germination. These results suggest that, because of its high physicochemical contents and strong radical scavenging activities, germinated brown rice can be used as beneficial supplement.

<P>Significant research efforts are currently being devoted to improving both the crystalline quality and stability of lead halide perovskite absorbers to advance the commercial prospects of perovskite-based solar cells. Herein, we report a simple one-step dibutylhydroxytoluene (BHT) additive-based approach for simultaneously improving the crystallinity and resistance of perovskite films under adverse degradation conditions. We found that BHT, commonly known for its antioxidant properties, can considerably improve the performance of methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells by modulating the chemical environment within the precursor medium to form intermediate complexes, and it can also suppress photooxidation, which results in perovskite degradation under environmental operating conditions. Consequently, a device exhibited a significant power conversion efficiency improvement to 18.1% with the BHT-additive-based perovskite absorber, exceeding the 17.1% efficiency achieved for the control device. The BHT additive also improved the perovskite stability by quenching intermediate reactions resulting in perovskite degradation to an undesirable lead iodide phase, as evidenced by detailed analysis of absorption spectra, grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering, X-ray photoelectron spectra, and photoluminescence measurements.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
