Tuberculosis of duodenum is so rare and is usually secondary to pulmonary or intestinal tuberculosis . It is difficult to diagnose duodenal tuberculosis in clinical and radiologic findings due to its non-specific symptoms and inconsistent lesion. The diagnosis was made on the basis of the histological study of the endoscopic biopsy and resected surgical specimen. so we report a case of tuberculosis of duodenal bulb and of ascending colon with, the brief review of the literatures.

It has been hypothesized that jobs that have both high psychological demands and low decision latitude("job strain") can lead to musculoskeletal disorder. The objective of this study was to test whether job strain was correlated with the presence of work-related musculoskeletal disorder, especially myofascial pain syndrome(MPS). Information on demographic factors, confounders such as household load and taking care of children or not, and scores for decision latitude, job demand, and social support was obtained by self-administered questionnaire, which had been developed in Korean language, by adopting NIOSH instrument and Extended Karasek Model(16 items). All subjects were also examined by rehabilitation medicine specialists for musculoskeletal disorders. Subjects(n=370) could be categorized into 4 groups, these were, housewives(n=89), shipyard CAD workers(n=89), general female workers(n=79; nurses, insurance counselors, public officials, clerks, etc), and telephone directory assistance operators(n=113). Results from univariate analyses indicated that all demographic factors, all confounders, scores for decision latitude and social support were not associated with the risk of musculoskeletal disorder. However, score for job demand was higher in musculoskeletal disorder cases than others. In subgroup analysis, this association was convinced again, in telephone directory assistance operators. Job strain model showed that the group of telephone directory assistance operators was high-stain group, and OR of musculo skeletal disorder was 2.446(95% C. I. : 1.174, 5.096), when comparing this with the low strain group. In conclusion, job strain is a risk factor for work-related musculoskeletal disorder.

An improvement of vehicle fuel economy is one of the most important topic in automotive engineering. Lots of engineers make efforts to achieve 1% of fuel economy improvement by adding new components such as ATF W/C fin heat exchangers and electric thermostat. ATF W/C plate fin heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between transmission oil and coolant This has a major advantage over a conventional heat exchanger in that the fluids are exposed to a much larger surface area because the fluids spread out over the plates. The objective is to obtain high heat transfer coefficients without correspondingly increased pressure loss penalties. 1) In the present paper, the experimental setup for testing the thermal performance of ATF W/C plate fin heat exchanger is developed.

차량에서 구동계의 의한 손실은 전체 연료 소비 손실에서 약 4%를 차지하며 그 중에서도 자동변속기는 구동계 손실에 큰 영향을 끼친다. ATF W/C 열교환기는 근래에 관심이 높아지고 있는 부품인데, 자동 변속기 윤활유의 온도를 적정한 상태로 유지시켜 줌으로서 연비 개선 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 ATF W/C 열교환기 단품 특성을 실험적으로 파악하고, ATF W/C 열교환기가 실제 차에 장착되었을 때의 연비 개선 효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서는 실험을 통하여 ATF 와 냉각수의 온도와 유량에 대한 유용도를 파악하고 유용도를 예측하기 위한 상관식을 도출하였다. MATLAB의 Simulink 프로그램을 통하여 실험의 결과를 바탕으로 ATF W/C 열교환기 유무에 따른 연료 소모량을 비교 하여 연비 개선 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 ATF W/C 열교환기가 장착된 자동차는 0.992% 연비 개선 효과가 나타났다. An ATF W/C (auto-transmission fluid warmer/cooler) plate-fin heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between the auto-transmission fluid and coolant. The use of an ATF W/C heat exchanger can result in a fuel economy improvement of about 1% in vehicles. An experimental setup for testing the thermal performance of an ATF W/C plate-fin heat exchanger is developed. In this study, the influence of the ATF and coolant, flow rates, and temperature on the efficiency of an ATF W/C heat exchanger are investigated experimentally. From the experimental data, a simple correlation for predicting the efficiency of an ATF W/C heat exchanger is proposed. On the basis of this correlation, the fuel economy of a vehicle with and without an ATF W/C heat exchanger is compared by using Simulink. Finally, it is shown that the fuel economy is improved by 0.992% when an ATF W/C heat exchanger is installed in the vehicle.

Isolation of Fucosterol from Pelvetia siliquosa by High-speed Countercurrent Chromatography

We report here the use of high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) in the preparative isolation and purification of the bioactive component, fucosterol, from Pelvetia siliquosa. A crude extract was obtained by ultrasonic extraction of powdered P. siliquosa using methylene chloride and was then subjected to separation and purification by HSCCC, coupled with evaporative light-scattering detection. Preparative HSCCC was performed successfully using a two-phase solvent system, n-heptane:methanol (3:2, v/v), to obtain 10.96 mg fucosterol with 96.8% purity from 50 mg of crude extract; the recovery rate was approximately 90.5%.

We isolated five phenolic glycosides (acteoside,eutigoside B, isoacteoside, rutin and cornoside) fromAbeliophyllum distichum leaves by high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) using a solvent systemof ethyl acetate:n-butanol:water (8:0.7:5). We determinedthe purity of the 5 compounds by high-performance liquidchromatography, and confirmed their chemical structuresby using nuclear magnetic resonance data. We examinedthe inhibitory effect of these compounds on rat lens aldosereductase. Among these compounds, acteoside (1) showedthe most potent inhibitory effect, with an IC50 value of1.39 lM. The inhibitory effect of 1 was 5.0 times greaterthan that of quercetin (7.05 lM), which was used as apositive control. These results suggest that acteoside maybe a promising agent for the prevention or treatment ofdiabetic complications. Moreover, HSCCC is a promisingmethod for the isolation and purification of biologicallyactive compounds from natural products.
