Design and Implementation of a Smart Signage System based on the Internet of Things(IoT) for Elevators

        Hyunmi Ryu,Guisun Lee,Sunggon Park,Sungguk Cho,Byungkook Jeon 한국인터넷방송통신학회 2019 Journal of Advanced Smart Convergence Vol.8 No.3

The existing digital signage systems inside the elevators are a lack of tailored contents appropriate to the space and environment inside or outside the elevators. Also, they almost impossible to flexibly respond to various contents disclosure according to the demand of the consumers or the elevator markets. Therefore we design and implement an IoT(Internet of Things)-based smart digital signage system for the safety of elevator passengers.. In order to provide IoT-based information to the smart digital signage within the elevator, we propose an IoT system as a set-top box with gyroscope sensor, acceleration sensor, RFID(Radio-Frequency Identification), fine dust sensor, etc., which processes various data collected by the sensors and provides the elevator passengers with various tailored contents such as elevator driving information, environmental information inside and outside the elevator, and disaster information in addition to simple advertisement information. The proposed IoT system is a set-top box that operates the smart digital signage and has an independent information control processor based on the IoT sensors that do not depend on the elevator control system. For the proposed smart digital signage, it supports an operating system that is independent of the elevator driving service as well as the media service. So the smart signage system has a characteristic that it does not depend on the elevator control system since it is a stand-along IoT-based information control system. With the proposed system providing intuitive content for the surge, steep descent, and radical movements of an elevator due to an emergency situation, the elevator passengers should be able to recognize the situation quickly and respond accordingly. In the near future, the proposed system will expand the market of digital signage applied in conjunction with the development of contents in the disaster, safety and environment fields, and expect expected to revitalize related industries associated with signage.

분수와 소수 관련 초등 예비 교사들의 PCK 실태 분석

        김현미,류희수 이화여자대학교 교과교육연구소 2012 교과교육학연구 Vol.16 No.1

This study examined the status of the PCK (pedagogical content knowledge) of pre-service, elementary school teachers through analyses and interviews with students in a university of education. The research indicates: 1) the PCK of half of the pre-service, elementary school teachers registered below 50%; 2) the results indicate that subject matter knowledge is the highest, knowledge of students' understanding is in the middle, and pedagogical knowledge is the lowest in the test scores; 3) student teachers try to teach algorithms to elementary school students and are more familiar with the problem solving algorithm than with the concepts of fractions and decimal numbers; 4) the teachers do not seem to understand the various uses of fractions and decimal numbers; and 5) the teachers are not able to provide a variety of models when they attempt to teach the concepts to students. In conclusion, promising student teachers needs more PCK for fractions and decimal numbers, more interest in error correction for the students, and an ability to cope with the various unexpected difficulties that occur in the classroom. Pre-service, elementary school teachers soon become teachers. PCK development for them is related to the PCK development of unexperienced teachers. The results of this study could play a fundamental role in suggesting improvements in the curriculum of the university for the development of PCK, the necessity of study for unexperienced teachers, and research with respect to class analysis for the development of PCK.

An Integrated Emergency Call System based on Public Switched Telephone Network for Elevators

Lee, Guisun,Ryu, Hyunmi,Park, Sunggon,Cho, Sungguk,Jeon, Byungkook The Institute of Internet 2019 International journal of advanced smart convergenc Vol.8 No.3

Today, most of elevators have an emergency call facility for emergency situations. However, if the network installed in the elevator is also out of power, it cannot be used for the elevator remote monitoring and management. So, we develop an integrated and unified emergency call system, which can transmit not only telephone call but also data signals using PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) in order to remote monitoring and management of elevators, even though a power outage occurs. The proposed integrated emergency call system to process multiple data such as voice and operational information is a multi-channel board system which is composed of an emergency phone signal processing module and an operational information processing module in the control box of elevator. In addition, the RMS(remote management server) systems based on the Web consist of a dial-up server and a remote monitoring server where manages the elevator's operating information, status records, and operational faults received via the proposed integrated and unified emergency call system in real time. So even if there's a catastrophic emergency, the proposed RMS systems shall ensure and maintain the safety of passengers inside the elevator. Also, remote control of the elevator by this system should be more efficient and secure. In near future, all elevator emergency call system need to support multifunctional capabilities to transmit operational data as well as phone calls for the safety of passengers. In addition, for safer elevators, it is necessary to improve them more efficiently by combining them with high-tech technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

      • Melatonin protects against oxidative stress in granular corneal dystrophy type 2 corneal fibroblasts by mechanisms that involve membrane melatonin receptors

Choi, Seung‐,Il,Dadakhujaev, Shorafidinkhuja,Ryu, Hyunmi,im Kim, Tae,Kim, Eung Kweon Blackwell Publishing Ltd 2011 Journal of pineal research Vol.51 No.1

<P><B>Abstract: </B> Considering that oxidative stress plays a role in corneal fibroblast degeneration during granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2) and melatonin is an effective antioxidant, we examined the ability of melatonin to protect against oxidative stress‐induced cell death of primary cultured normal and GCD2‐homozygous corneal fibroblasts. Melatonin treatment protected primary cultured normal and GCD2 corneal fibroblasts from paraquat (PQ)‐induced oxidative stress and caused increased expression levels of Cu/Zn‐superoxide dismutase (SOD1) and glutathione reductase (GR) in both types of cells. Interestingly, catalase expression increased in normal corneal fibroblasts, but decreased in GCD2 corneal fibroblasts after melatonin treatment. Melatonin also reduced the levels of intracellular reactive oxygen species and H2O2 in both cell types. In addition, the selective melatonin receptor antagonist luzindole blocked melatonin‐induced expression of SOD1 and GR. The expression levels of melatonin receptors 1A (MT1) and 1B (MT2) were significantly higher in GCD2 corneal fibroblasts than in normal cells. These results suggest that increased expression of melatonin receptors may be involved in the defense mechanisms against oxidative stress in GCD2 corneal fibroblasts, and melatonin may have potential therapeutic implications for GCD2 treatment.</P>
