The Impact of Play Practice on Chinese Physical Education Pre-Service Teachers Badminton Content Knowledge

        Hairui Liu,Wei Wang,Yaohui He,Peter Hastie 대한운동학회 2020 아시아 운동학 학술지 Vol.22 No.3

[OBJECTIVES] This study examined the development of Chinese pre-service physical education teachers’ technical skill, tactical understanding, game performance (common content knowledge - CCK), and specialized content knowledge (SCK) during a badminton course incorporating Play Practice instruction. [METHODS] Participants were 36 pre-service teachers (31 males, 5 females: age 21 ± 1.0) majoring in physical education at a university in central China. The students completed a 24 lesson course after a 16 weeks semester. A typical lesson (90 minutes) included a 10-minute warm-up, followed by instruction in two or three technical skills or tactics for 50-55 minutes. The final 25-minutes included the Play Practice aspect of the lesson - a specific game-based challenge to reinforce a technical or tactical aspect of badminton play. The challenge included the three typical pedagogies of Play Practice: focusing, shaping, and enhancing. The French clear test, tactical understanding in badminton, Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI), and student-generated content maps were used to respectively monitor changes in technical skills, tactical understanding, game performance, and specialized content knowledge before and after the course. Parametric statistics were used to compare student outcomes. [RESULTS] Statistically significant differences were found on all measures from pre- to post-test, with all showing large effect sizes. In particular, over 75% of students achieved the benchmark depth of SCK following the course. [CONCLUSIONS] The inclusion of Play Practice within a sport instruction course can contribute to various elements that are needed to promote the CCK and SCK of pre-service physical education students.

      • Steel and FRP double-tube confined RAC columns under compression: Comparative study and stress-strain model

        Ming-Xiang Xiong,Guangming Chen,Yue-Ling Long,Hairui Cui,Yaoming Liu 국제구조공학회 2022 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.43 No.2

Recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) is rarely used in load-carrying structural members. To widen its structural application, the compressive behavior of a promising type of composite column, steel-fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) doubletube confined RAC column, has been experimentally and analytically investigated in this study. The objectives are the different performance of such columns from their counterparts using natural aggregate concrete (NAC) and the different mechanisms of the double-tube and single-tube confined concrete. The single-tube confined concrete refers to that in concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns and concrete-filled FRP tubular (CFFT) columns. The test results showed that the use of recycled coarse aggregates (RCA) affected the axial load-strain response in terms of deformation capacity but such effect could be eliminated with the increasing confinement. The composite effect can be triggered by the double confinement of the steel and carbon FRP (CFRP) tubes but not by the steel and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) FRP tubes. The proposed analysis-oriented stress-strain model is capable to capture the load-deformation history of such steel-FRP double-tube confined concrete columns under axial compression.

Visible-Light Self-Driven Photodetector with Enhanced Performance Based on CdS /Si Nanowire Heterojunction

        Yurong Jiang,Haifa Zhai,Weiwei Cao,Haigang Yang,Hairui Liu 대한금속·재료학회 2016 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.12 No.6

In this article, the appealing application of the CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure asthe self-driven photodetector was presented based on a facile successive ioniclayer absorption and reaction. Compared to CdS /Si planar based device, photocurrent illuminated with light (532 nm) to dark-current ratio was enhancedsignificantly for CdS/Si nanowire based detector. Measurements of time resolvedresponses at zero bias were conducted, and the result also demonstrated that CdS/Si nanowire heterostructure had a high photosensitivity and fast photo-responseas the self-driven visible light photodetector. Additionally, the correspondingmechanism for the phenomenon was discussed, and it is believed that such a highphotoresponse comes from the improved optical absorption as well as the goodcarrier transfer and collection capability. The present CdS/Si core-shellheterojunction architectures are envisaged as potentially valuable candidates fornext-generation photodectors.

Dynamic network biomarker identifies cdkn1a-mediated bone mineralization in the triggering phase of osteoporosis

        Guo Weiming,Jin Peng,Li Ruomei,Huang Lu,Liu Zhen,Li Hairui,Zhou Ting,Fang Bing,Xia Lunguo 생화학분자생물학회 2023 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.55 No.-

The identification of predictive markers to determine the triggering phase prior to the onset of osteoporosis is essential to mitigate further irrevocable deterioration. To determine the early warning signs before osteoporosis, we used the dynamic network biomarker (DNB) approach to analyze time-series gene expression data in a zebrafish osteoporosis model, which revealed that cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1 A (cdkn1a) is a core DNB. We found that cdkn1a negatively regulates osteogenesis, as evidenced by loss-of-function and gain-of-function studies. Specifically, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated cdkn1a knockout in zebrafish significantly altered skeletal development and increased bone mineralization, whereas inducible cdkn1a expression significantly contributed to osteoclast differentiation. We also found several mechanistic clues that cdkn1a participates in osteoclast differentiation by regulating its upstream signaling cascades. To summarize, in this study, we provided new insights into the dynamic nature of osteoporosis and identified cdkn1a as an early-warning signal of osteoporosis onset.

Monitoring polarization and dielectric relaxation behaviors of BaTiO3/ PC composite films via transmittance measurement

        Haifa Zhai,Jinfeng Wang,Tiantian Zhang,Min Su Cho,Hongying Luo,Haiqin Li,In Man Kang,Hairui Liu,Jian Su 한국물리학회 2016 Current Applied Physics Vol.16 No.7

BaTiO3/polycarbonate (BT/PC) composite films with different concentration of BaTiO3 ferroelectric nanocrystals are prepared by a spin coating method. The polarization and dielectric relaxation behaviors of BT/PC composite films are characterized by the introduction of orientational order parameter (f) through in-situ transmission spectrum measurement. It's found that 15%BT/PC composite film has the largest orientation change with the f value of 10.5% and slow dielectric relaxation, almost 10% decay of f after 24 h. The optical band-gap of 15%BT/PC composite film decreases after poling indicates that the orientation of BaTiO3 ferroelectric nanocrystals aligns due to the effect of polarization, from 3.8 eV to 3.67 eV. From the XRD results, we consider that the preferential alignment orientation of BaTiO3 ferroelectric nanocrystals after poling is [001]. This suggests that in-situ transmittance measurement is a simple and effective way to evaluate the polarization and dielectric relaxation behaviors of ferroelectric nanocrystals/polymer systems.
