Seventeen compounds derived from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were tested for their antiviral activity against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in vitro. Visualization with the cytopathologic effect (CPE) assay and the 3-(4, 5-dimethyithiazol- 2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide test were used to determine the 50% cytotoxic concentration (CC50) and 50% effective concentration (EC50) in cultured Marc-145 cells. Among the tested compounds, chlorogenic acid and scutellarin showed potential anti-PRRSV activity. The EC50 values were 270.8 ± 14.6 μg/ml and 28.21 ± 26.0 μg/ml and the selectivity indexes were >5.54 and 35.5, respectively. The time-of-addition and virucidal assay indicated that the anti-PRRSV activity of the two compounds could be due to their inhibiting the early stage of virus replication and/or inactivating the virus directly. The inhibition of the virus attachment was not observed in the adsorption inhibition assay. The inhibition ratios of chlorogenic acid and scutellarin were, respectively, 90.8% and 61.1% at the maximum non-cytotoxic concentrations. The results have provided a basis for further exploration of their antiviral properties and mechanisms in vivo. We believe that the chlorogenic acid and scutellarin have a great potential to be developed as new anti-PRRSV drugs for clinical application.

The international society has been very much concerned about the latest situation on the Korean Peninsula after the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear test on 9 October 2006 and has shown ever-increasing anxiety over the prospecter a peaceful solution to the crisis. What will be the outcome of the crisis? Is there hope for the Peninsula to come out ofthe crisis peacefully? What are the best options for the solution of the issue? There are different views among internationa1 observers on the questions. ln the author's personal point of view, a comprehenslve and dipomatic solution must be pursued should the international society wish to avoid a catastrophic situation in the future.

Purpose – In the online environment, the group definition, marginal scope, and transmission methods of short video creators and audiences have all changed, but the centrality of the audiences’ essence will not change. Their thinking characteristics and behaviors ultimately determine the influence of digital products spread in the network. This paper attempts to explore the relationship between audience trust and communication mechanism from the source of information: the trust or suspicion generated by the creator’s identity type information, and explore its influence on the popularity of communication. Design/Methodology/Approach – We systematically reviews the connotation and extension of audience trust in online media, definition and characteristics of network identity, the disclosure of creator identity types, character setting, authentication and supervision of identity, and communication popularity. Findings – The interaction between short video media and audience includes: information dissemination, value judgment and emotional transmission. Audience trust plays a bridge and check position in the dissemination of short video media, which determines the survival and development of short video media. These contents can provide short video creators with basic information that can effectively affect user behavior, provide them with a basis for decisionmaking in the creation process, increase audience trust, and improve the popularity and effectiveness of media communication. Research Implications – It provides a new research perspective for influencing user identification, social recommendation and other fields.

Background In recent years, studies have shown that cyfluthrin is harmful to the reproductive system. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide may be a protective agent. Objective To investigate the effect of cyfluthrin (Cy) on testosterone B (inhibin B, INHB) in male rats and the intervention of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP). Results Compared with the control group, the mRNA and protein expression levels of INH α and INH βB in the testis tissue decreased, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The LBP intervention group can significantly increase the expression level, and the difference is statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The decrease of INHα and INHβB expression caused by Cy exposure indicates that Cy has a toxic effect on the testis of rats, and the addition of LBP has a certain protective effect on the testis of rats. Ultra-high-purity (UHP) electronic-grade octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) is the key precursor of lowdielectricconstant (low-k) SiCOH films to manufacture integrated circuits (IC), meeting the stringentrequirements of the rapidly developing semiconductor industry. Commonly, metallic impurities in D4were removed by multiple unit operations of adsorption, filtration, and distillation, which could reducethe concentration of a single metallic impurity below 1 ppb. However, D4 with higher purity is requiredby semiconductor production due to an increase in transistor density. Herein, a novel method based onthe integrated simultaneous distillation–extraction (SDE) was developed for manufacturing UHPelectronic-grade D4. The lab and pilot scale experiments showed that the purity of water and D4 has apositive correlation. Based on the experimental data, a double-column process, consisting of azeotropic/extractive distillation column and precision distillation column with UNIQUAC method, was establishedto access the feasibility of scaling up the SDE process. According to the simulation results, D4with the purity > 99.999 wt.% and total metallic impurities (TMI) content below 1 ppb could be obtainedusing ultra-pure water.

Filtration temperature-sensitive H (FtsH) is an ATP-dependent protease family that plays important roles in many aspects of cellular processes and environmental adaption. However, little information is available about the FtsH genes in pear (Pyrus bretschneideri). In this study, 19 PbrFtsH genes were identified and classified into eight groups with several subgroups. The FtsH genes in pear show high sequence and structural conservation in the coding regions, and the majority of the FtsH members were located on the chromosome 3 (three members), chromosome 9 (four members), and chromosome 15 (three members). The WGD/segmenta, dispersed duplication played a major driving force in pear FtsH evolution. A Synteny analy- sis provided deep insight into the evolutionary relationships of PbrFtsH genes. The subcellular localization of the PbrFtsH genes showed them in the mitochondrion or chloroplast. Expression profiles derived from transcriptome data and RT-qPCR analysis revealed distinct expression patterns of PbrFtsH genes in different fruit developmental stages. These results provided valuable information that extends our understanding of the function, evolution and expression profile of the FtsH family during fruit development in pear, and a foundation for the further functional characterization of PbrFtsH genes, which can be applied to pear crop improvement.

Multidrug resistance of tumors has been a severe obstacle to the success of cancer chemotherapy. The study wants to investigate the reversal effects of imperatorin (IMP) on doxorubicin (DOX) resistance in K562/DOX leukemia cells, A2780/Taxol cells and in NOD/SCID mice, to explore the possible molecular mechanisms. K562/ DOX and A2780/Taxol cells were treated with various concentrations of DOX and Taol with or without different concentrations of IMP, respectively. K562/DOX xenograft model was used to assess anti-tumor effect of IMP combined with DOX. MTT assay, Rhodamine 123 efflux assay, RT-PCR, and Western blot analysis were determined in vivo and in vitro. Results showed that IMP significantly enhanced the cytotoxicity of DOX and Taxol toward corresponding resistance cells. In vivo results illustrated both the tumor volume and tumor weight were significantly decreased after 2-week treatment with IMP combined with DOX compared to the DOX alone group. Western blotting and RT-PCR analyses indicated that IMP downregulated the expression of P-gp in K562/DOX xenograft tumors in NOD/SCID mice. We also evaluated glycolysis and glutamine metabolism in K562/DOX cells by measuring glucose consumption and lactate production. The results revealed that IMP could significantly reduce the glucose consumption and lactate production of K562/DOX cells. Furthermore, IMP could also remarkably repress the glutamine consumption, α-KG and ATP production of K562/DOX cells. Thus, IMP may sensitize K562/DOX cells to DOX and enhance the antitumor effect of DOX in K562/DOX xenograft tumors in NOD/SCID mice. IMP may be an adjuvant therapy to mitigate the multidrug resistance in leukemia chemotherapy.

The calpain I (CAPN1) gene is an important marker for meat tenderness and marbling score in the bovine, but there were no studies to determine whether the CAPN1 gene had an association with other meat quality traits. In this study, we examined the relation between genetic polymorphisms of the CAPN1 gene and some meat quality traits in Yanbian Yellow Cattle of China. By PCRSSCP and gene sequencing in 321 unrelated Yanbian yellow cattle, twenty seven single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected in CAPN1, two existed SNPs in exon 8 and exon 17 resulted in the change of AA at F311S and M599V, respectively, and the otherpolymorphisms were at intron 7, 8, 14, 16 and 17. There were different preponderant genotypes at the corresponding gene locus and all genotypes were not associated with tenderness but other meat traits. This is the first study of the relationship between CAPN1 and meat quality besides tenderness in Yanbian yellow cattle of China.
