AbstractThe purpose of this electrochemical study was to determine and compare the sealing effect of three commonly used calcium hydroxide-based sealers (Sealapex, Apexit, and CRCS) with that of Roth 801 which is a ZOE-based sealer.64 single rooted teeth were used in this experiment. After removing the crown, the teeth were devided into 4 groups of 15 in each and obturated with gutta-percha and experi- mental sealers. 4 teeth were as controls(2 positive and 2 negative).The results were as follows : 1. During the observation period, all sealers showed varying degree of microleakage. 2. The mean leakage currents according to the electrochemical study of each group showed 0.418??0.006mV for Roth 801, 2.03??0.035mV for Sealapex, 3.33??0.069mV for Apxit and 6.48??0.097mV for CRCS group. The positive control group showed 600mV. 3. There were statistically significant difference in mean leakage among experimental groups. ZOE-typed Roth 801 sealer was the lowest, and Sealapex, Apexit, CRCS group in that order showed increased leakage (P<0.05). 4. Roth 801, Sealapex and Apexit group showed increasing leakage with time, but CRCS group showed stable or decreasing leakage tendency.

Due to the advances in data communication and hardware technology, many centralized control systems have been replaced by distributed digital systems. Fieldbuses are low level industrial networks and are currently undergoing enormous revolution. Industries have recently observed lots of applications using fieldbus networks. Profibus is one of fieldbus currently available. In this paper we describe the interface between the applications and the Profibus network and then implement an interface card on DIN 19 245 Profibus Standard. We show that this implementation is a useful technique of converting serial communication to intelligent polling network as well as the efficient and simple design.

Computer-integrated automation in manufacturing systems largely depends on local-area networks (LAN's) for information exchange between devices such as computers, PLCs, NCs, and robots. Timely transfer of messages among such devices are critical for real-time operations. Manufacturing Automation Protocols (MAP) is specially designed to provide rapid and reliable which takes place on the factory floor. The token-bus network has emerged as the standard for LANs in industrial environments due to its stability, reliability, and the availability of a priority scheme. For this reason, MAP has specified the token passing bus control for use in the Medium Access Control(MAC) sublayer and Logical Link Control(LLC) sublayer in the data link layer. In this work, we will implement the token bus control algorithms with VHDL, and MAP protocol with relatively low cost. Much will be emphasized on implementing MAP standard protocol based on MAC and LLC.

Queueing analysis, in general., has the intrinsic problem of large state space dimension and complex computation. In fact, the petri net is a graphical and mathematical model. It has been used for the modeling of various applications, in particular, manufacturing systems. It can deal with parallelism, concurrence, deadlock avoidance, and asynchronism. Currently it has been applied to the performance of computer networks and protocol verifications. This paper presents a technique for modeling and analyzing queueing model using stochastic activity networks (SANs). And then some examples are showed for the verification of the technique presented in this paper.

기존의 end-to-end 방식에서는 네트워크 내부에서 혼잡(congestion)이 발생했을 경우 각 endpoint에서 즉시 알아 낼 수 없기 때문에 일정시간 동안 수신된 packet의 순서에 대한 정보로 혼잡이 발생했는지에 대해 추론하는 것이다. 따라서 네트워크 내부에서 직접적으로 정보를 얻거나 처리를 해 줄 수 있다면 기존 방식보다 처리율이 향상될 것이다. 본 논문에서는 Active Network 메커니즘을 이용하여 라우터를 구성하고 관련 모의실험결과를 보인다. 이를 통해서 기존의 방식보다 향상된 혼잡제어를 제시한다.
Optimal Control For Integrated Networks Under Partial Observations

음성신호와 데이터를 동시에 전송하는 종합망에서, 완전 또는 부분정보에 상관없이, 데이터의 지연과 음성신호 차단확률을 최소화시키는 체적제어는 스위칭타입임을 보여준다. 음성신호의 확률분포가 최적제어를 위한 sufficient Statistic임을 보여주고 시스템변수들의 변화에 대한 적응제어를 구한다. In integrated networks with voice call and data traffic, the optimal access policy is considered. Under complete observations or partial ones, the switching type policy is shown to be optimal which minimizes delay of data and probability of blocking calls. Furthermore, the probability distribution of voice traffic is a sufficient statistic for the optimal policy. Thus the separation principle holds for the latter case. In the csae that the system is subject to parameter uncertainties, an adaptive control approach is analyzed using two different methods.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The adenosine triphosphate–binding cassette efflux transporter ABCG2, which is located in the blood-brain barrier limits the entry of endogenous compounds and xenobiotics into the brain, and its expression and activity are regulated by estrogen. This study was aimed to define the role of ABCG2 in estrogen-mediated neuroprotection against ischemic injury. ABCG2 protein levels before and after ischemic stroke were increased in the brain of female mice by ovariectomy, which were reversed by estrogen replacement. In brain endothelial cell line bEnd.3, estrogen reduced the basal ABCG2 protein level and efflux activity and protected cells from ischemic injury without inducing ABCG2 expression. When bEnd.3 cells were transfected with ABCG2 small interfering RNA, ischemia-induced cell death was reduced, and the intracellular concentration of glutathione, an antioxidant that is transported by ABCG2, was increased. In addition, after ischemic stroke in ovariectomized mice, estrogen prevented the reduction of intracellular glutathione level in brain microvessels. These data suggested that the suppression of ABCG2 by estrogen is involved in neuroprotection against ischemic injury by increasing intracellular glutathione, and that the modulation of ABCG2 activity offers a therapeutic target for brain diseases in estrogen-deficient aged women.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
