( Daeyoung Oh ),( Dae Won Koo ),( Kyung Eun Jung ),( Joong Sun Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2018 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.70 No.2
Background: Occurrence of cutaneous malignant tumors has been increasing worldwide due to changes in various environmental factors. However, there are little statistical studies in Korea. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical characteristics in single center patients with cutaneous malignant tumors, according to the sex, age, duration, size, anatomic site, treatments and accompanying diseases. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records, clinical photographs of 327 patients diagnosed as cutaneous malignant tumors (squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, angiosarcoma, Kaposi sarcoma, lymphoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, metastatic cancer, Paget disease) and 107 patients diagnosed as premalignant tumor (Bowen’s disease). Results: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records, clinical photographs of 327 patients diagnosed as cutaneous malignant tumors (squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, angiosarcoma, Kaposi sarcoma, lymphoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, metastatic cancer, Paget disease) and 107 patients diagnosed as premalignant tumor (Bowen’s disease). Conclusion: Our study is overall review about the cutaneous malignant tumors. On the basis of this data, additional risk factors or prognostic factors of the tumors can be found later in further studies.
Clinical Advances in Treatment Strategies for Obsessive-compulsive Disorder in Adults
Daeyoung Roh,Ki Won Jang,Chan-Hyung Kim 대한정신약물학회 2023 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.21 No.4
In the present article, we provide a comprehensive review of the treatment strategies for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a common, chronic, and often debilitating disorder, characterized by overwhelming obsessions and compulsions. OCD typically starts in childhood or adolescence and persists throughout life, causing functional impairment across multiple domains. The article begins by describing the historical concepts of OCD from religious and guilt-based explanations to psychoanalytic perspectives, and then explores the changing understanding of OCD as a treatable condition. Recent advances include the development of evidence-based psychological treatments, such as exposure and response prevention, and pharmacological treatments, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The latest version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, and the International Classification of Diseases, has removed OCD from the anxiety disorder grouping and regrouped it into obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. We conclude by highlighting the current state of knowledge and development in the clinical management of OCD, including recommendations for first- and second-line treatments, alternative, or augmentative strategies for and novel agents under investigation for OCD. In future, the latest advances in neuroimaging, electrophysiology, digital technology, and data-driven analysis will help elucidate the pathophysiology of OCD and develop personalized intervention strategies.
Genetic Relationships of Carcass Traits with Retail Cut Productivity of Hanwoo Cattle
Koh, Daeyoung,Lee, Jeongkoo,Won, Seunggun,Lee, Chaeyoung,Kim, Jongbok Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2014 Animal Bioscience Vol.27 No.10
This study aimed to estimate genetic correlation between carcass grading and retail productivity traits and to estimate the correlated response on retail productivity traits through selection for carcass grading traits in order to assess the efficacy of indirect selection. Genetic parameters were estimated with the data from 4240 Hanwoo steers using mixed models, and phenotypes included carcass weight (CWT), back fat thickness (BFT), eye muscle area (EMA), marbling (MAR), and estimated lean yield percentage (ELP) as the carcass grading traits, and weight and portion of retail cuts (RCW and RCP), trimmed fats (TFW and TFP) and trimmed bones (TBW and TBP) as the lean productivity traits. The CWT had positive genetic correlations with RCW (0.95) and TFW (0.73), but its genetic correlation with RCP was negligible (0.02). The BFT was negatively correlated with RCP (-0.63), but positively correlated with TFW and TFP (0.77 and 0.70). Genetic correlations of MAR with TFW and TFP were low. Among the carcass grading traits, only EMA was positively correlated with both RCW (0.60) and RCP (0.72). The EMA had a relatively strong negative genetic correlation with TFW (-0.64). The genetic correlation coefficients of ELP with RCP, TFW, and TFP were 0.76, -0.90, and -0.82, respectively. These correlation coefficients suggested that the ELP and EMA might be favorable traits in regulating lean productivity of carcass.

Rho family small GTPases are important regulators of neuronal development. Defective Rho regulation causes nervous system dysfunctions including mental retardation and Alzheimer's disease. Rac1, a member of the Rho family, regulates dendritic spines and excitatory synapses, but relatively little is known about how synaptic Rac1 is negatively regulated. Breakpoint cluster region (BCR) is a Rac GTPase-activating protein known to form a fusion protein with the c-Abl tyrosine kinase in Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia. Despite the fact that BCR mRNAs are abundantly expressed in the brain, the neural functions of BCR protein have remained obscure. We report here that BCR and its close relative active BCR-related (ABR) localize at excitatory synapses and directly interact with PSD-95, an abundant postsynaptic scaffolding protein. Mice deficient for BCR or ABR show enhanced basal Rac1 activity but only a small increase in spine density. Importantly, mice lacking BCR or ABR exhibit a marked decrease in the maintenance, but not induction, of long-term potentiation, and show impaired spatial and object recognition memory. These results suggest that BCR and ABR have novel roles in the regulation of synaptic Rac1 signaling, synaptic plasticity, and learning and memory, and that excessive Rac1 activity negatively affects synaptic and cognitive functions.

Cognitive and Psychosocial Effects of Oxcarbazepine Monotherapy in Newly Diagnosed Partial Epilepsy
Kim, Daeyoung,Seo, Ji-Hye,Joo, Eun Yeon,Lee, Hyang Woon,Shin, Won Chul,Hong, Seung Bong by Lippincott Williams Wilkins. 2014 Clinical neuropharmacology Vol.37 No.4
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess the effects of oxcarbazepine (OXC) on cognition and psychosocial difficulties in patients with new-onset partial epilepsy. METHODS: Cognitive and psychosocial assessments were performed before and after 6 to 12 months of OXC monotherapy in 52 drug-naive patients (25 women; mean age, 31.1 years; SD, 12.1 years). Cognitive functions were evaluated with well-structured and validated tools. Mood, psychological distress, subjective handicap, and quality of life were also evaluated. Differences between baseline and after-treatment evaluation were compared and adjusted for possible confounders such as age, sex, seizure control, duration of epilepsy, assessment interval, and epileptogenic region. RESULTS: Mean assessment interval was 231.8 (range, 182–348) days, and mean (SD) OXC dose at retest was 693.8 (208.9) mg. The OXC was found to have no significant adverse effect on cognition. Furthermore, OXC monotherapy was not found to affect psychosocial difficulties, including psychological distress and subjective handicap. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that OXC monotherapy could be used to treat newly diagnosed partial epilepsy without adversely affecting cognitive and psychosocial functions.
