In this study, the seismic performance of RC frames reinforced with steel plate concrete was conducted by applying steel plate concrete into the existing RC frame and RC frame in order to evaluate the seismic reinforcement effect of steel plate concrete. The results showed that the reinforced specimen with steel plate concrete showed higher strength than the existing RC frame specimen, and the time of yield was also measured later. Therefore, sufficient seismic reinforcement effect can be expected through steel plate concrete.
Two to Five Channel Audio Processing based on Center Channel Extraction Algorithm
Tacksung Choi,Youngcheol Park,Daehee Youn 대한전자공학회 2007 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2007 No.7
In this paper we propose an algorithm of converting two channel audio materials to five channel. An effective sound distribution to the surround channel is based on the computation of cross correlation and a non linear mapping function. An algorithm of extracting center channel using center channel estimator is proposed. A robust stereo image is obtained using center channel extraction algorithm. Informal listening tests comparing this scheme with other methods showed that proposed algorithm offer better performance than previous up-mix strategies.
Efficient Circuit and an EM Model of an Electrostatic Discharge Generator
Yousaf, Jawad,Park, Myeongkoo,Lee, Hosang,Youn, Jinsung,Lee, Daehee,Hwang, Chanseok,Nah, Wansoo [Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2018 IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility Vol.60 No.4
<P>In this work, a new technique for an efficient, simple, and fast equivalent circuit and full wave numerical modeling of the electrostatic discharge (ESD) generator is presented. A novel circuit model of the NoiseKen ESD simulator is proposed based on the frequency domain measurement of the standard waveform calibration setup. The simple full wave electromagnetic model of the same generator, which requires much less computation resources, is also proposed using commercial CST Microwave Studio software. The reliability of the proposed models as an authentic ESD excitation source is validated through an example discharge application. The good agreement between the ESD reference waveform obtained through measurement, circuit model, and 3-D model of the generator is observed.</P>

Phospholipase signalling networks in cancer
Park, Jong Bae,Lee, Chang Sup,Jang, Jin-Hyeok,Ghim, Jaewang,Kim, Youn-Jae,You, Sungyoung,Hwang, Daehee,Suh, Pann-Ghill,Ryu, Sung Ho Nature Publishing Group, a division of Macmillan P 2012 Nature reviews. Cancer Vol.12 No.11
Phospholipases (PLC, PLD and PLA) are essential mediators of intracellular and intercellular signalling. They can function as phospholipid-hydrolysing enzymes that can generate many bioactive lipid mediators, such as diacylglycerol, phosphatidic acid, lysophosphatidic acid and arachidonic acid. Lipid mediators generated by phospholipases regulate multiple cellular processes that can promote tumorigenesis, including proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis. Although many individual phospholipases have been extensively studied, how phospholipases regulate diverse cancer-associated cellular processes and the interplay between different phospholipases have yet to be fully elucidated. A thorough understanding of the cancer-associated signalling networks of phospholipases is necessary to determine whether these enzymes can be targeted therapeutically.
Transcription factor NFAT5 promotes macrophage survival in rheumatoid arthritis
Choi, Susanna,You, Sungyong,Kim, Donghyun,Choi, Soo Youn,Kwon, H. Moo,Kim, Hyun-Sook,Hwang, Daehee,Park, Yune-Jung,Cho, Chul-Soo,Kim, Wan-Uk American Society for Clinical Investigation 2017 The Journal of clinical investigation Vol.127 No.3
<P>Defective apoptotic death of activated macrophages has been implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the molecular signatures defining apoptotic resistance of RA macrophages are not fully understood. Here, global transcriptome profiling of RA macrophages revealed that the osmoprotective transcription factor nuclear factor of activated T cells 5 (NFAT5) critically regulates diverse pathologic processes in synovial macrophages including the cell cycle, apoptosis, and proliferation. Transcriptomic analysis of NFAT5-deficient macrophages revealed the molecular networks defining cell survival and proliferation. Proinflammatory M1-polarizing stimuli and hypoxic conditions were responsible for enhanced NFAT5 expression in RA macrophages. An in vitro functional study demonstrated that NFAT5-deficient macrophages were more susceptible to apoptotic death. Specifically, CCL2 secretion in an NFAT5-dependent fashion bestowed apoptotic resistance to RA macrophages in vitro. Injection of recombinant CCL2 into one of the affected joints of Nfat5+/-mice increased joint destruction and macrophage infiltration, demonstrating the essential role of the NFAT5/CCL2 axis in arthritis progression in vivo. Moreover, after intra-articular injection, NFAT5-deficient macrophages were more susceptible to apoptosis and less efficient at promoting joint destruction than were NFAT5-sufficient macrophages. Thus, NFAT5 regulates macrophage survival by inducing CCL2 secretion. Our results provide evidence that NFAT5 expression in macrophages enhances chronic arthritis by conferring apoptotic resistance to activated macrophages.</P>

This paper proposes an analysis method of performance degradation of antenna due to radio frequency interference between an antenna and adjacent noise sources using active scattering parameters. The radio frequency interference can be analyzed by the measured or simulated scattering parameters and by excited noise sources in the circuit as well. In this paper, a planar inverted-F antenna and a noise source are designed and fabricated to analyze radio frequency interference between the planar inverted-F antenna and noise source. The proposed analysis method uses active scattering parameters, of which verification is experimentally verified, and in simulation as well.
