      • Clinical and Experimental Study on the Law of Treating Psoriasis Vulgaris Based on the Differential Diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Zhao Chun Xiu 경희대학교 동서의학연구소 1999 INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON EAST-WEST MEDICINE Vol.1999 No.1

Zhao Chum Xiu. Teaching Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University of TCM, Jinan, R.R.China. clinical and Experimental Study on the Law of Treating Psoriasis Vulgars Based on the Differential Diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 36-43, 1999. -This article is to study the law of treating Psoriasis Vulgaris based on the differential dignosis in TCM from theoretical, clinical and experimental aspects with the theory of TCM and TCM combined with Western Medicine, and to explore effective recipes for it. The study showed the accumulation of heat toxin was the pathological base of disease. Blood stasis and heat accoumulation was the chief pathological change during its nosogenic course. Blood deficiency and wind dryness was the main aspect of transformation at the end of it, wind veil ran through its whole pathologic course. Based on this, the disease was differentiated into three types:the type of heat toxin and win overabundance, the type of blood stasis and wind heat, the type of blood deficiency and wind dryness. The decorations were drawn up to remove toxin and expel wind, promote blood circulation and expel wind, nourish blood and expel wind. The above decoctions were used in 88 cases, and 36 cases as control were treated with Yin Xie-Ling Chong Ji. According to the clinical effect of each group and the experimental examination among different groups, the result showed the experimental group were better than the control group on the curative and remarkable rate, the total effective rate, the improvement in hemodynamics and regulation of organism immunity, statistics suggested there was significant difference. The index of blood rheology in the type of blood stasis and wind heat was higher than that of other two groups with significant difference. The experiment showed the decoction of the experimental groups can improve erythrocyte membrane fluidity, inhibit lipid peroxydasis and improve parakeratiosis and hyperkeratosis of epidermis.

A Practical Light Field Representation and Coding Scheme with an Emphasis on Refocusing

Chun Zhao,Byeungwoo Jeon 대한전자공학회 2022 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.11 No.5

Light field images have drawn a great deal of interest owing to their flexible post-processing and versatile functionalities. However, the tremendous data volume has imposed a practical limit in applications, which requires a better way to represent and compress the data. In this paper, we propose a practical representation and coding scheme for light field data with a special emphasis on retaining the refocusing functionality as much as possible. Under the proposed method, light field data are represented and compressed in the form of a rendered all-in-focus image and a depth map. Before encoding, the all-in-focus image is rendered accurately based on the depth map using the proposed difference focus measure. At the decoder, a focal stack comprising multiple images having different focus levels can be reconstructed by applying a defocusing function to the compressed all-in-focus image where the defocusing function parameter depends on the selected depth level of the compressed depth map. Compared with well-known state-of-the-art methods that compress the Fourier Disparity Layer or the focal stack, the proposed coding scheme shows much smaller loss in the refocusing capability (16.2% and 17.8% less than two state-of-the-art methods) and provides PSNR improvements of 1.60㏈ to 2.38㏈ at the same compression ratio.

Recombinant Human Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor Promotes Preinvasive and Invasive Estrogen Receptor-Positive Tumor Development in MMTV-erbB2 Mice

        Chun Ling Zhao,Guang Ping Zhang,Zheng Zheng Xiao,Zhi Kun Ma,Cai Peng Lei,Shi Yuan Song,Ying Ying Feng,Ya Chao Zhao,Xiao Shan Feng 한국유방암학회 2015 Journal of breast cancer Vol.18 No.2

Purpose: We investigated whether recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) could promote the development of preinvasive and invasive breast cancer in mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV-erbB2) mice with estrogen receptor- positive tumors. Methods: MMTV-erbB2 mice were randomly divided into three experimental groups with 20 mice in each group. MMTV-erbB2 mice were treated with daily subcutaneous injections of vehicle or rhG-CSF (low-rhG-CSF group, rhG-CSF 0.125 μg; vehicle-rhG-CSF group, normal saline 0.25 μg; and high-rhG-CSF group, rhG-CSF 0.25 μg) at 3 months of age. Cellular and molecular mechanisms of G-CSF action in mammary glands were investigated via immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results: Low, but not high, rhG-CSF doses significantly accelerated mammary tumorigenesis in MMTV-erbB2 mice. Short-term treatment with rhG-CSF could significantly promote the development of preinvasive mammary lesions. The cancer prevention effect was associated with reduced expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, cluster of differentiation 34, and signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 in mammary glands by >80%. Conclusion: We found that G-CSF was regulated by rhG-CSF both in vitro and in vivo. Identification of G-CSF genes helped us further understand the mechanism by which G-CSF promotes cancer. Low doses of rhG-CSF could significantly increase tumor latency and increase tumor multiplicity and burden. Moreover, rhG-CSF effectively promotes development of both malignant and premalignant mammary lesions in MMTV-erbB2 mice.

The Association of GSDMB and ORMDL3 Gene Polymorphisms With Asthma: A Meta-Analysis

        Chun-Ni Zhao,Ye Fan,Jian-Jun Huang,Hai-Xia Zhang,Tao Gao,Cong Wang,Tong Wang,Li-Fang Hou 대한천식알레르기학회 2015 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.7 No.2

Purpose: ORM1-like 3 (ORMDL3) belongs to a highly conserved protein family which is anchored as transmembrane protein in the endoplasmic reticulum. Gasdermin B (GSDMB) is adjacent to ORMDL3 on chromosome 17q21.2 and belongs to the gasdermin-domain containing the protein family(GSDM family). Recent reports suggest that GSDMB and ORMDL3 are associated with asthma in several populations. However, genetic associationstudies that examined the association of GSDMB and ORMDL3 gene variants with asthma showed conflicting results. To assess whether combinedevidence shows the association between GSDMB/ORMDL3 polymorphism and asthma. Methods: A bibliographic search from MEDLINE identified13 original articles using the search keywords ‘GSDMB’, ‘ORMDL3’, and ‘asthma’. An updated literature-based meta-analysis involving 6,691 subjectswith asthma, 9,281 control individuals, and 1,360 families were conducted. Meta-odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) basedon the fixed effects model or the random effects model depended on Cochran’s Q-statistic and I2 values. Data from case-control and TDT studieswere analyzed in an allelic model using the Catmap software. Results: We selected and identified 3 SNPs of ORMDL3 associated with asthma(rs8076131: OR=1.10; 95% CI, 1.02-1.20; P=0.012. rs12603332: OR=1.15; 95% CI, 1.05-1.25; P=0.002. rs3744246: OR=1.10; 95% CI, 1.02-1.17;P=0.008) and 1 SNP of GSDMB associated with asthma (rs7216389: OR=1.37; 95% CI, 1.27-1.47; P<0.01). Publication bias was estimated usingmodified Egger’s linear regression test proposed by Harbordetal and revealed no evidence of biases. Furthermore, cumulative meta-analysis in chronologicalorder showed the inclination toward significant association for rs7216389 and rs12603332 with continually adding studies, and the inclinationtoward null-significant association for rs3744246 and rs8076131. Conclusions: Moderate evidence exists for associations of the ORMDL3rs8076131, rs12603332, and rs3744246 and GSDMB rs7216389 variants with asthma. Large sample size and representative population-based studiesand TDT studies with homogeneous asthmatic patients and well-matched controls are warranted to confirm this finding.
