The Shin Kyung-suk dispute seems to mark an end of an era of the Korean literary circles for me. Since the Japanese colonial period, Korean modern literature has been ‘Another Government’ against the Japanese Government-General of Korea or the Korean dictatorships. But the democratization, as we know, led to the weakening of Korean literary stature. During the noisy debate the Korean literary world has been almost invisible and the academic world of Korean literary study as same. In fact a problem in the plagiarism is not simple. It is more compex that the relationships between two or three works, which is especially crossing the borders. Even to solve the Shin Kyung-suk issue collaboration of literary critics and literary scholors is needed primarilly. In a word the academic world of Korean literary study try to enhance its reality, stopping to surrender him/herself to crisis. Perhaps it will be the first step that we produce the readable papers. Recently the Korean readers and writers has been so completely lost in the foreign works, because Korean literary critics and literary scholors almost abandoned his/her responsibillity of the literary education. Where can we find a path to innovate the study of Korean Literature and literary criticism? Co-evolution of criticsm and study is an answer. When the researchers make every effort to gain critical sense or reality, and the critics endeavor to obtain the historical sense, it shall be on exit, I wonder.
Calculation of Pressure Profiles in a Molecular Flow Regime using LTSpice IV
Won-Shik Choi,Kun-Uk Kang,Se-Hyun Kim,Chongdo Park 한국진공학회(ASCT) 2016 Applied Science and Convergence Technology Vol.25 No.4
This article describes an electrical network analysis (ENA) method to calculate the pressure distribution of a vacuum system in a molecular flow regime. The vacuum system was modeled using electrical components. For an accurate analysis, a complexly combined pipe model, excluding entrance conductance, was employed and the pressure distribution was simulated using ENA. A vacuum system comprising three vacuum pumps was used for simplicity. In addition, the ENA results were compared with results from finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental measurements. The pressure distribution profiles estimated from ENA, performed using the LTSpice IV software, were in agreement with FEA and experimental results.

Background There is a paucity of information regarding the impact of the coronary collaterals on prognosis in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) patients. We developed a novel index, which considers not only the degree of collateral circulation but also the stimulus of collateral development, and investigated its prognostic value in T2DM patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods and Results One hundred and ninety four consecutive T2DM patients were analyzed and followed for an average of 30 months. We measured the diameter stenosis (DS; %), corrected TIMI frame count (CTFC) and Rentrop score at 3 major epicardial coronary arteries. The collateral development (CD) score was calculated by: (Σ Rentrop score +1)/Σ [DS (%) × CTFC] ×1,000. During the follow-up, acute cardiovascular events occurred in 49 patients. By multivariate analysis, the CD score was an independent predictor of adverse events not only in the total population (p<0.001), but in all 3 subgroups (p=0.020 for coronary artery bypass grafting, p=0.030 for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and p=0.003 for the medical group). Furthermore, patients in the tertile with the highest CD score showed improved survival by Kaplan-Meier analysis in the total population, the PTCA and the medical group. Conclusions The CD score, a novel index of collateral development, may be a useful predictor of clinical outcome in T2DM patients with CAD. Fabrication of transparent conductive tri-composite film for electrochromic application
Choi, Dahyun,Lee, Minji,Kim, Hyungsub,Chu, Won-shik,Chun, Doo-man,Ahn, Sung-Hoon,Lee, Caroline Sunyong Elsevier 2017 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.425 No.-

Abstract

A transparent conductive electrode (TCE) based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) was developed using a dry deposition method for application as an electrochromic (EC) device. To improve its electrical conductivity and stable EC performance, AgNW and TiO2 nanoparticles were included in the TCE film. The resulting TiO2/AgNW/PEDOT:PSS hybrid film showed electrical sheet resistivity of 23Ω/sq., similar to that of a commercial TCE film. When +2.0V was applied to the hybrid film, the response current was stable, maintaining a value of 2.0mA. We found that the hybrid film could be used as an EC device, without using commercial TCE film. Antimony-doped tin oxide on indium-doped tin oxide-glass as an ion-storage layer was combined with the hybrid film, with 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (EMIM-TFSI) injected into the EC device as an ionic liquid electrolyte. The optical transmittance difference between the colored and bleached states was 23% at 630nm; under applied voltages of −2.0V and +2.0V, the coloration efficiency was 127.83cm2/C. Moreover, cyclic transmittance with switching voltage for 3h showed stable optical transmittance of 31% at 630nm. Cyclic voltammetry measurements indicated stable behavior over 50 cycles. Thus, the proposed TCE configuration (TiO2/AgNW/PEDOT:PSS) shows great potential as a substitute for commercial TCEs, the cost of which depends on the availability of rare-earth materials.

Highlights

Tri-composite film composed of TiO2/AgNW/PEDOT:PSS for transparent conductive electrode (TCE),was developed to be used for electrochromic device.

This Tri-composite film showed low electrical sheet resistivity, comparable to that of TCE and maintained stable response current with voltage application of +2.0V.

This electrochromic device using ITO-free TCE, showed coloration efficiency of 127.83cm2/C.

Dry deposited TiO2 film shows nanoporous p-n heterostructure to improve electrochemical performance of the device.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Choi, Won Suk,Kang, Cheol-In,Kim, Yonjae,Choi, Jae-Phil,Joh, Joon Sung,Shin, Hyoung-Shik,Kim, Gayeon,Peck, Kyong Ran,Chung, Doo Ryeon,Kim, Hye Ok,Song, Sook Hee,Kim, Yang Ree,Sohn, Kyung Mok,Jung, You The Korean Society of Infectious Diseases and Kore 2016 Infection and Chemotherapy Vol.48 No.2

Background

From May to July 2015, the Republic of Korea experienced the largest outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) outside the Arabian Peninsula. A total of 186 patients, including 36 deaths, had been diagnosed with MERS-coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection as of September 30th, 2015.

Materials and Methods

We obtained information of patients who were confirmed to have MERS-CoV infection. MERS-CoV infection was diagnosed using real-time reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assay.

Results

The median age of the patients was 55 years (range, 16 to 86). A total of 55.4% of the patients had one or more coexisting medical conditions. The most common symptom was fever (95.2%). At admission, leukopenia (42.6%), thrombocytopenia (46.6%), and elevation of aspartate aminotransferase (42.7%) were observed. Pneumonia was detected in 68.3% of patients at admission and developed in 80.8% during the disease course. Antiviral agents were used for 74.7% of patients. Mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and convalescent serum were employed for 24.5%, 7.1%, and 3.8% of patients, respectively. Older age, presence of coexisting medical conditions including diabetes or chronic lung disease, presence of dyspnea, hypotension, and leukocytosis at admission, and the use of mechanical ventilation were revealed to be independent predictors of death.

Conclusion

The clinical features of MERS-CoV infection in the Republic of Korea were similar to those of previous outbreaks in the Middle East. However, the overall mortality rate (20.4%) was lower than that in previous reports. Enhanced surveillance and active management of patients during the outbreak may have resulted in improved outcomes.
