<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The goal of this work is to understand the structure and characteristics of technological knowledge flows between countries, institutions, and technology fields in the field of organic photovoltaic cells. This study was conducted in three stages: data collection, network creation, and network analysis. For network analysis, network visualization, network topological analysis, and node centrality analysis were performed in sequence. The network topological analysis revealed that all three citation networks, i.e., countries, institutions, and technology fields, are scale-free networks that follow the power law and display, to a greater or lesser extent, a more efficient knowledge transfer capability than a random network of the same size. The node centrality analysis showed that the United States, Japan, and Germany are the most important citation centers in the country citation network, while Boeing, Konarka Technologies, Eastman Kodak, and Sharp are the most important in the institution citation network, and the U.S. patent classification (USPC) classes of 136, 257, and 428 are the most important in the technology field citation network, each playing critical roles in each the network as core nodes. In this study, we applied various concepts of centrality to the analysis of individual nodes and found that the results from the network topological analysis and the node centrality analysis are not significantly different. The proposed analysis framework in this paper is applicable to different science and technology domains.</P>

Background/Aims: Little is known about the effect of early flares on response during first-line tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) treatment for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence and outcome of early alanine aminotransferase (ALT) flare in treatment-naive patients with CHB during long-term TDF monotherapy. Methods: One hundred eighty-one treatment-naive CHB patients were treated with a 300-mg once-daily dose of TDF for more than 12 weeks. Virological markers of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and biochemical data were measured at baseline and every 4-12 weeks during the therapy. The proportion of patients with undetectable HBV DNA level (< 100 copies/mL) was noted. Results: The median age was 48.3 years and 122 patients (67.4%) were men. Hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg) was positive in 101 patients (55.8%). No patient had cirrhosis. The median follow-up duration was 45 weeks (12-155 weeks). ALT flare ( >5 × upper limit of the normal range) occurred in seven patients (3%) without viral breakthrough within the first 8 weeks after the start of TDF monotherapy. Among them, six patients were HBeAg-positive and one patient was HBeAg-negative. All cases of early ALT flares resolved within 4 weeks and virologic response was observed in all patients without interruption or discontinuation of treatment. Conclusions: Continuous TDF monotherapy was effective and safe in treatment-naive patients with CHB who experienced early ALT flares followed by a decrease in HBV DNA level. Acute hemorrhagic edema of young children: Erythema multiforme-like vasculitis

Vasculitis is characterized by two main features, including violaceous palpable purpura or petechiae, both of which are most likely to appear on the lower extremities. Erythema multiforme (EM) has target-like lesions, which appear as concentric circles with different contrasts. Acute hemorrhagic edema (AHE) of young children is uncommon, but when the condition is present, it is typically underestimated as cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV). AHE becomes diagnostic when both EM-like lesions and violaceous palpable purpura exist. The four-year-old patient had palpable purpura and targetoid manifestations localized on the lower extremities, and based on biopsy, the diagnosis was direct immunofluorescent staining-negative leukocytoclastic vasculitis. There was a history of upper respiratory infection and an influenza vaccination occurring three weeks before onset of the condition, suggesting that an infectious causative origin might have brought about acute hemorrhagic edema (AHE). Oral Prednisolone with a dosage of 10 mg/day was started, and the dose was tapered 2.5 mg/week. Four weeks of systemic steroids successfully controlled the lesions. Because of the targetoid palpable purpura, AHE tends to be underestimated or misdiagnosed as other diseases in pediatric patients. If the patient presents with symptoms that are not conclusively one of the two conditions, then AHE should be taken into consideration.
Proteomic Analysis of Differentially Expressed Proteins in Bovine Endometrium with Endometritis

Endometritis is one of the primary reasons for reproductive failure. In order to investigate endometritis-associated marker proteins, proteomic analysis was performed on bovine endometrium with endometritis. In bovine endometritis, desmin, $\alpha$-actin-2, heat-shock protein (HSP) 27, peroxiredoxin-6, luteinizing hormone receptor isoform 1, collectin-43 precursor, deoxyribonuclease-I (DNase-I), and MHC class I heavy chain (MHC-Ih) were up-regulated. In contrast, transferrin, interleukin-2 precursor, hemoglobin $\beta$ subunit, and potassium channel tetramerisation domaincontaining 11 (KCTD11) were down-regulated in comparison to normal endometrium. The proteomic results were validated by semiquantitative-PCR and immunoblot analysis. The mRNA levels of desmin, transferrin, $\alpha$-actin-2, HSP27, KCTD11, and MHC-Ih were up-regulated by over 1.5-fold, and showed a pattern similar to their proteomic profiles. Desmin and $\alpha$-actin-2 protein showed positive correlations between proteomic analysis and immunoblot analysis. These results suggest that desmin and $\alpha$-actin-2 may play important roles in endometritis-related function, and could be useful markers for the diagnosis of bovine endometritis.

In conclusion, our present results showed that FSE pulse sequence could be acceptable in the diagnosis of meniscal tears, and additional FSGE MR imaging could enhance meniscal detectability (i. e., 3% increase in our study). Also, FSGE MR imaging could be useful in differentiating acute from chronic ligament injury.

Travelling route of B. pertussis antigen into the central nervous system after the intravenous, intraneural and perineural. vaccine injection were examined with immuno- fluorescent antibody technique. B. pertussis antigen were detected in the central nervous system after 24 hours following the intravenous vaccine injection. But not detected until 12 hours after intravenous injection. And it is evident that B. pertussis vaccine can reach to the central nervous system widely through hematogenous route by permeating the b1ood-brain barrier but not by way of peripheral nerve route. The above findings explain the possible pathogenesis of encephalitis and convulsion occurred in the pertussis vaccinated people.
Medical comorbidities and the onset of androgenetic alopecia: a population-based, case-control study

Background: An association between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and an increased incidence of metabolic syndrome (MS) has been suggested. Objectives: This study explored differences in medical comorbidities including MS based on the timing of AGA onset. Methods: The medical records of 1,141 subjects who visited Department of Dermatology and the Occupational Medical Clinic in Yonsei Wonju Christian Hospital form October 2012 to March 2016 were analyzed retrospectively and classified into early- and late-onset AGA groups. Fifty patients with AGA who were younger than 35 years old were defined as “early-onset”. For comparison, fifty late-onset AGA patients were selected randomly. To evaluate MS, we analyzed the medical history, blood samples and anthropometric indexes of each group. Results: The average age of the early-onset AGA group was 33.7 years and that of the late-onset group was 46.8 years, which did not represent a significant difference (p=0.244). MS was diagnosed in 9 patients in the early-onset AGA group and no patients in the late-onset AGA group. The early-onset AGA patients had abnormal BMI, waist circumference and blood parameters relatively. The comparison of anthropometric and blood parameters revealed no significant differences between the two groups other than in HDL cholesterol level, which was lower in the early-onset group (p=0.029). Conclusion: This study was a population-based, large-scale investigation in Korea that showed an association between MS and early-onset AGA.

The serum protein of 96 hyperglobulinemia cases have been studies by paper electrophoretic, immunoelectrophoretic and Partigen immunodfifusion procedure. An abnormal serum electrophoretic pattern was found in the 2 cases with M-spike. The M spike were identified as IgG and also decrease in vital capacity.
