        Current Status of Korean Ginseng Products and Trends in Enhanced Functional Ginseng Products

        The abolishment of the red ginseng monopoly act by the Korean government in 1996 resulted in a drastic change in the Korean ginseng industry, leading to a significant increase in the market size and consumption of ginseng products. Red ginseng is most popular type, with approximately 74% of harvested fresh ginseng being processed into various red ginseng products. Since 1997, there has been a substantial increase in the cultivation of ginseng for production of red ginseng, which, in turn, has contributed to the proliferation of ginseng processing companies. To investigate the products of ginseng manufacturing businesses, we select 200 companies primarily engaged in ginseng processing or specializing solely in ginseng. Our survey on the status of ginseng industry covered 8 different categories. 1) Root ginseng: There were 66 companies involved in manufacturing red ginseng root, accounting for 33.0% of all surveyed companies. This was followed by black ginseng root with 36 companies (18.0%) and red ginseng fine roots with 22 companies (11%). 2) Red ginseng products: A total of 144 companies were involved in manufacturing red ginseng pouches, making it the most common product category. This was closely followed by 142 companies producing pure(100%) red ginseng extract concentrate. 3) Fermented red ginseng products: Companies producing fermented red ginseng extract concentrate products were the most numerous, totaling 26. Following this, companies producing fermented red ginseng stick and pouch products were next in line. 4) Ginseng products: There were 15 companies involved in the production of ginseng products, with the majority focusing on ginseng tea. 5) Black ginseng products: Companies producing black ginseng extract concentrate were the most numerous, with 31 companies, followed by 26 companies producing black ginseng extract pouches. 6) Taegeuk ginseng products: Only 5 companies were involved in the production of taegeuk ginseng products. 7) Fermented black ginseng, and 8) Ginseng berry products: These categories are manufactured by less than 5 companies each. However, the variety in ginseng berry products suggests the potential for future growth. In the 2000s, a trend emerged with the development of new processed products aimed at enhancing the functional components of red ginseng, and these products have captured the attention of consumers. However, this study primarily focuses on black ginseng, fermented red ginseng/fermented black ginseng, and ginseng berry products as they have exerted a significant influence on the overall ginseng industry.

        천연가스 열량 변화에 따른 GHP 엔진의 성능 및 배출가스 특성

        가스엔진구동 히트펌프(GHP : Gas Engine Driven Heat Pump)의 연료인 천연가스의 열량이 감소함에 따라 국내에서 생산되는 GHP에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 저열량가스(9,800 kcal/Nm<SUP>3</SUP>)를 연료로 사용하여 엔진 단체 실험 및 GHP 현장평가를 실시한 결과 약간의 출력감소가 확인되었으나 시동성, 운전안정성, 배출가스 특성 등은 거의 변화가 없음을 확인하였다. 따라서 천연가스 열량이 9,800 kcal/Nm<SUP>3</SUP> 까지 감소하여도 별도의 조정없이 GHP가 정상운전될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. In general, natural gas is used as GHP(Gas Engine Driven Heat Pump) fuel. On this study, the influences of different natural gas heating value on GHP were evaluated. As a result of engine test & field test using low heating value gas(9,800 kcal/Nm<SUP>3</SUP>) as fuel, the engine power was reduced slightly, however the performance of start-up, the stability of operation and the characteristics of emission gas were almost similar. So it is considered that the normal operation of GHP is possible without any tuning when the low heating value(9,800 kcal/Nm<SUP>3</SUP>) of natural gas was used as fuel.

      • MBTI Classification of Companies Using Online Reviews with Sentence-BERT

        This study aims to classify companies according to their organizational character types based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Different from survey-dependent methods which previous studies have relied on, we propose a novel method using text analytic technique, Sentence BERT. 1,329,264 reviews collected from an online company review website, Glassdoor, were analyzed to measure the organizational character of 1,241 companies. The first finding is that ENTJ, ENTP and ENFP were found to be the top-3 organizational character types and ENTJ occupies more than 34% among companies. Second, EJ type of behavioral temperament and NT type of decision-making temperament are dominant. Finally, companies belong to the same industry group tend to have similar organizational character. The research results can be used as a practical tool for companies in their organizational diagnosis and strategy development, and future studies can empirically analyze the impact of organizational character.

        항만입지특성이 항만도시성장에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        도시가 발전하기 위해서는 다양한 자원과 성장에 필요한 제반조건과 총체적인 환경을 요구하고 있다. 도시의 성장과 발전은 역사·문화·경제·사회·공간·제도적 요인들이 서로 영향을 주면서 다양한 변화를 통하여 발전하고 있다. 그러나 항만이 입지하고 있는 배후지역의 도시개발계획이나 지역경제 활성화에 있어서는 원활한 경제활동이나 도시성장에 많은 도움을 주지 못하고 있다. 중앙정부나 지방자치단체의 행정환경 추세는 성숙한 분권형 국가운영시스템을 요구하고 있는 시대적 변화에 부응하지 못한 채 현실을 간과하고 있다. 이러한 이유에서 평택항과 광양항이 입지하고 있는 항만도시를 대상으로 배후지역 도시성장에 어떻게 영향을 주고 있는지에 대한 명확한 관계를 살펴보는 것은 의미가 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 항만의 입지가 배후지역 도시성장에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지에 대한 분석을 통하여 항만과 배후도시와의 관계를 확인하고, 향후 항만개발과 운영방향에 대한 정책적 시사점을 탐색하는데 있다. 본 연구는 항만이 입지함에 따른 항만입지와 관련된 특정 요인이 평택항과 광양항에 어떠한 영향을 주고 있는지를 비교분석하였다. 분석결과 항만입지특성이 도시성장에 미치는 요인 중 수출입물동량이 평택항과 광양항 모두에 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 맥락에서 항만당국인 중앙정부와 지방자치단체 간의 적극적인 계획과 협조가 반드시 병행되어야 한다. 또한 국가적 이미지 개선에 보탬이 되고 인적?물적 유인효과를 제고하는 지역적 특성이 반영된 정책을 수립하여 실행하는 전략을 추진할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 중앙정부 주도의 항만정책 추진에 대한 대안을 제시하고 항만입지 특성과 배후도시 성장에 영향을 주는 다양한 추진 전략을 실행해야 하는 중앙정부와 지방자치단체의 협력적 관계를 모색할 수 있는 중요한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다. The growth of a city requires substantial resources, an appropriate environment, and the alignment of several factors. City growth also evolves through changes in its history, culture, economics, societies, groups, and government systems. However, current port city development plans designed to encourage the growth of local businesses fail to provide the support needed for both the city and businesses. The recent actions of urban administrations and federal and local governments have revealed that they have yet to create a mature decentralized management system, or perhaps have ignored the reality of needing one. Taking a clear look at the differences between port regions, such as Gwangyang and Pyeongtaek, and understanding their effect on city growth would be a prudent course of action when preparing for future developments. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between ports and cities by analyzing the effect of port characteristics on nearby city growth. This study used a comparison analysis to determine how port characteristics affected the growth of Pyeongtaek and Gwangyang. One result of this analysis showed that an increase in the number of goods being imported or exported had a positive effect on the growth of both port cities, In this respect, an aggressive plan and cooperation between the federal and local government should occur simultaneously. Furthermore, efficient local policies that focus on the increase of personnel and material resources should be pursued as a standard strategy, which would also promote the international status of these locations. The results of this study show the importance of government cooperation. The federal government should lead with aggressive strategies that aim to optimize efficiency, while the local government should provide the necessary assistance and coordination in order to achieve optimal results.

        MBTI 조직성격유형화에 따른 기업분류 : 기업리뷰 빅데이터를 활용하여

        Purpose - The purpose of this study is to classify KOSPI listed companies according to their organizational character type based on MBTI. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 109,989 reviews from an online firm review website, Jobplanet. Using these reviews and the descriptions about organizational character, we conducted document similarity analysis. Doc2Vec technique was hired for the analysis. Findings First, there are more companies belonging to Extraversion(E), Intuition(N), Feeling(F), and Judging(J) than Introversion(I), Sensing(S), Thinking(T), and Perceiving(P) as organizational character types of MBTI. Second, more companies have EJ and EP as the behavior type and NT and NF as the decision-making type. Third, the top-3 organizational character type of which firms have among 16 types are ENTJ, ENFP, and ENFJ. Finally, companies belonging to the same industry group were found to have similar organizational character. Research implications or Originality - This study provides a noble way to measure organizational character type using firm review big data and document similarity analysis technique. The research results can be practically used for firms in their organizational diagnosis and organizational management, and are meaningful as a basic study for various future studies to empirically analyze the impact of organizational character.

        국내 유통 중인 먹는샘물 원수의 이온류 수질 특성에 관한 연구

        The goal of this study is to provide basic data to establish a foundation for the provision of safe drinkable water. The raw water of natural mineral water was analyzed to determine the quantities of anions (F<sup>-</sup>, Cl<sup>-</sup>, NO<sub>3</sub>-N<sup>-</sup>, and SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>) and cations (Ca<sup>2+</sup>, K<sup>+</sup>, Mg<sup>2+</sup>, and Na<sup>+</sup>) during the former and latter half of 2016. Analysis of the current quality of the raw water of natural mineral water among domestic manufacturers showed average anions contents of 0.46㎎/L of fluorine, 8㎎/L of chlorine ion, 1.5㎎/L of nitrate nitrogen, and 12㎎/L of sulfate ion. While the fluorine content was greater than the water quality criterion of 2.0㎎/L at four points, the fluorine level was overall stable. The average cations contents included 21.3㎎/L of calcium, 1.0㎎/L of potassium, 3.4㎎/L of magnesium, and 9.6㎎/L of sodium. The chemical characteristics were compared among the major ions, and the results are presented in a piper diagram. The content ratio of cations was in the order of Ca<sup>2+</sup>>Na<sup>+</sup>>Mg<sup>2+</sup>>K<sup>+</sup>, whereas that of anions was in the order of SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>〉Cl<sup>-</sup>>NO<sub>3-</sub>N>F<sup>-</sup>. While the cations were slightly scattered, the anions were generally concentrated except for at a few points. The Ca-Na-HCO<sub>3</sub> type was dominant overall in water sources from diorite, gneiss, and granite, while the Na-Mg-Ca-HCO<sub>3</sub>-Cl type was dominant in basalt sources. Mineral water manufacturers source their water under various conditions, including in-hole casing, excavation depth, and contact state of bedrock; even within the same rocky area, some differences in the water quality type can occur. When the depth of the water source was taken into account, the mean anions contents of F<sup>-</sup>, Cl<sup>-</sup>, NO<sub>3</sub>-N<sup>-</sup>, and SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup> were similar, with no significant differences according to depth. Of the cations, K<sup>+</sup> and Na<sup>+</sup> showed no significant differences across all the tubular wells, whereas Ca<sup>2+</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup> decreased in content with depth.

        A Case of Right Cerebellopontine-Angle Lesion: Psychotic Symptoms and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings

        Here, we report psychotic symptoms together with a right cerebellopontine-angle lesion. A37-year-old female patient presented with a trigeminal Schwannoma occupying the right cerebellopontine angle. Her psychotic symptoms included auditory hallucinations and delusions of persecution. T1- and T2-weighted images on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed hyperintense and hypointense areas in the right cerebellopontine angle, respectively. The clinical and neuroimaging reviews in this case suggest that sudden onset of psychotic symptoms at a mature age may be associated with a right cerebellopontine-angle lesion and that MRI should be used to evaluate possible organic bases in patients that present with psychosis.
