오늘날 현저한 CO2 레이저의 응용 추세에 발맞추어 보다 다양한 형태의 출력 제어 기술이 대두되고 있다. 본연구에서는multi-Pulse Superposing-Discharge 기술을 이용하여 다양한형태의 CO2 레이저의 펄스를 성형 하였다. 펄스 성형을 위한 방법으로 PIC one-chip microprocessor를 이용하여 삼중 PFN 모률의 SCR을 각각 고유의 지연시간을 가지도록 제어하였다. 실험에 사용된 삼중 PFN 모률의 전원 회로는 각각 캐패시터 인덕터,SCR,고압 펄스 트랜스 그리고 고압 트랜스 2차측에 브릿지 정류기로 구성 하였다. 고압 펼스 트랜스의 1차측을 제어하므로서 PFN 모률의 동작을 저 전압에서 수행 할 수 있다. 트랜스의 2차측에 연결된 전파 정류기는 펄스 에너지를 부하에 지속적으로 전달한다. 본 연구에서는 삼중 PFN 모률의 각각의 SCR을 다른 시간 가격을 두고 트리거 하므로서 다양한 Long pulse shaping을 실현하였다. 또한 약 250-1000μs 의 주기를 가지는 다양한 펄스형 레이저 빔을 얻었다.

We have studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment effects on a nitrogen-doped diamond-like carbon (NDLC) thin film layer with ion beam irradiation. The pretilt angle for NLC on the NDLC surface with ion beam exposure was observed below 1 degree. Also, we had the good LC alignment characteristics on the NDLC thin films with ion beam exposure of 1800 eV. In thermal stability experiments, the alignment defect of the NLC on the NDLC surface with ion beam irradiation above annealing temperature of $250^{\circ}C$ can be observed. Therefore, the good thermal stability and LC alignment for NLC by ion beam aligned NDLC thin films can be achieved.

Background: To date, there is a paucity of information regarding optimal radiation dose after microscopic positive (R1) resection in patients with extrahepatic bile duct cancer. This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of radiation dose escalation for R1 resection margin (RM). Methods: A retrospective review was performed on 251 patients who underwent curative resection followed by adjuvant chemoradiotherapy between 1995 and 2009. Eighty-six patients had R1 RM which included invasive carcinoma (n=63) and carcinoma in situ/high-grade dysplasia (n=23). Among them, 54 patients received radiation dose < 54 Gy (range, 40-50.4 Gy) and 32 patients received = 54 Gy (range, 54-56 Gy). Concomitant fi uoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy was administered. Acute and late gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity were evaluated using Radiation Therapy Oncology Group criteria. The median follow-up duration was 27 months for all patients and 92 months for survivors. Results: Radiation dose = 54 Gy was associated with improved locoregional control (LRC) (5yr rate, 73.8% vs. 47.1%, p = 0.038), but not disease-free survival (5yr rate, 43.4% vs. 32.6%, p = 0.427) and overall survival (5yr rate, 40.6% vs. 29.6%, p = 0.393). In multivariate analysis for LRC, R1 with invasive carcinoma (HR 3.31, 95% CI 1.11-9.85, p = 0.032) and radiation dose < 54 Gy (HR 3.09, 95% CI 1.14-8.39, p=0.027) were independent adverse prognostic factors. Between the two dose groups, there was no signifi cant difference in acute GI toxicity =grade 2 and in late GI toxicity =grade 3. Conclusions: The current study demonstrated that radiation dose = 54 Gy was associated with improved LRC in patients with R1 RM and also well tolerated. Therefore, dose escalation could be considered for R1 RM. Prospective study is needed to verify these results.

Background/Aims: The reappearance rates of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA after a sustained virological response (SVR) have been reported to be 1-2%. We investigated the reappearance rate of HCV RNA after SVR in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients treated with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) and ribavirin. Methods: In total, 292 CHC patients who achieved an SVR after PEG-IFN and ribavirin treatment were included. They were treated with subcutaneous injections of either PEG-IFN-α 2a or 2b plus ribavirin orally. Liver function tests and qualitative HCV RNA assays were performed every 6 months during the follow-up period after an SVR. Results: Among the 292 patients, 224 (genotype 1, 92; genotype non-1, 132) were followed up for more than 6 months after SVR. These 224 patients were aged 48.1±11.5 years (mean±SD), and 129 of them were male. The median follow-up duration was 18 months (range 6-60 months). The reappearance rate of HCV RNA during follow-up was 0%. Two patients who achieved an SVR developed hepatocellular carcinoma during the follow-up period. Conclusions: An SVR was maintained in all CHC patients treated with PEG-IFN plus ribavirin during a median follow-up of 18 months. However, a screening test for hepatocellular carcinoma is needed for patients with an SVR. (Korean J Hepatol 2011;17:183-188)

The goal of cancer treatment is generally pain reduction and function recovery. However, drug therapy does not treat pain adequately in approximately 43% of patients, and the latter may have to undergo a nerve block or neurolysis. In the case reported here, a 42-year-old female patient with lung cancer (adenocarcinoma) developed paraplegia after receiving T8-10 and 11th intercostal nerve neurolysis and T9-10 interlaminar epidural steroid injections. An MRI results revealed extensive swelling of the spinal cord between the T4 spinal cord and conus medullaris, and T5, 7-11, and L1 bone metastasis. Although steroid therapy was administered, the paraplegia did not improve. (Korean J Pain 2015; 28: 148-152)

The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between instrumental tenderness parameters and histochemical characteristics in the porcine longissimus dorsi muscle, and to investigate a comparison between tenderness parameters such as the Warner-Bratzler shear-force (WBS) and texture profile analysis (TPA). A negative relationship between WBS and fiber area was observed. However, there was no significant relationship between hardness and muscle fiber area. The percentage of fiber type IIb exhibited a positive correlation with hardness. There was a negative relationship between the type IIa composition percentage and hardness. This study showed that some muscle fiber characteristics were related to WBS and TPA parameters, especially hardness.

This paper describes a reset-free delaylocked loop (DLL) for a memory controller application, with the aid of a hysteresis coarse lock detector. The coarse lock loop in the proposed DLL adjusts the delay between input and output clock within the pull-in range of the main loop phase detector. In addition, it monitors the main loop’s lock status by dividing the input clock and counting its multiphase edges. Moreover, by using hysteresis, it controls the coarse lock range, thus reduces jitter. The proposed DLL neither suffers from harmonic lock and stuck problems nor needs an external reset or start-up signal. In a 0.13-㎛ CMOS process, postlayout simulation demonstrates that, even with a switching supply noise, the peak-to-peak jitter is less than 30 ps over the operating range of 500-1200 ㎒. It occupies 0.04 ㎟ and dissipates 16.6 ㎽ at 1.2 ㎓.
