The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of teenagers` viewing motivation of the mixed martial arts program on viewing attitude and viewing behavior. For this study, teenagers who have seen the mixed martial arts program in Sung-nam and Young-in City were selected as the population. Then, 336 teenagers chosen by systematic stratified cluster random sampling were analyzed. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis and Multiple Regression were conducted by SPSS Window 12.0. The results were as follows:First, there were statistically significant differences in viewing attitude and viewing behavior according to the gender. Second, there were no statistically significant differences in viewing attitude and viewing behavior according to the school years. Third, there were statistically significant differences in viewing attitude and viewing behavior according to the viewing time. Fourth, there were statistically significant differences in viewing attitude and viewing behavior according to the viewing period. Fifth, it was found that viewing motivation significantly influences viewing attitude and explains 69.2%(R2=.268) of the variance. Vicarious satisfaction, entertainment pursuit motivation, time consuming motivation, and social exchange motivation which are subordinate constructs of viewing motivation have significantly a positive effect on viewing attitude in the order. Sixth, it was found that viewing motivation significantly influences viewing behavior and explains 69.3%(R2=.268) of the variance. Time consuming motivation, entertainment pursuit motivation, vicarious satisfaction, and social exchange motivation which are subordinate constructs of viewing motivation have significantly a positive effect on viewing behavior in the order. However, information pursuit motivation have significantly a negative effect on viewing behavior.

Aims: The number of the patients with acute hepatitis A is increasing due to improved hygienic environment and low seroprevalence of anti-HAV IgG in Korea. There were two peak periods of acute hepatitis A about 10 years ago and last year. This study aims to analyze the changes of the clinical features of acute hepatitis A patients between two peak periods in Korea. Methods: Patients with acute hepatitis A who had been hospitalized at Dankook University Hospital from 1998 to 2019 were included. We reviewed patient’s medical records especially, two peak periods (2008-2009 vs. 2019). Results: From 1998 to 2019, total 798 patients had admitted with acute hepatitis A. The mean age of the patients was 33.0 ± 10.1 years, and male patients (61.4%) were more. The mean peak AST and ALT were 2407.1 ± 2892.2 IU/L and 2547.2 ± 1896.3 IU/L. Total 8 (1%) patients were not recovered. Among 8 patients, 6 patients took liver transplantation and 2 patients expired. There were two peak periods for 22 years. First peak period was 2008-2009 year (219 patients) and second peak period was 2019 year (106 patients). The mean age increased from 31.7 ± 8.8 to 40.1 ± 9.4 years The proportion of male patients decreased from 69.4% to 58.5%. The symptom duration days decreased from 7.6 ± 8.0 days to 6.0 ± 3.9 days and total admission days also decreased from 7.4 ±3.4 days to 5.9 ± 3.2 days. The peak INR increased from 1.3 ± 0.5 to 1.4 ± 0.6. The death or transplantation rate increased from 0.9% to 2.8%. Conclusions: The mean age of patients with acute hepatitis A increased about 9 years over two peak periods. The death or transplantation rate increased very much although the admission days decreased.
Phytol, SSADH Inhibitory Diterpenoid of Lactuca sativa
Bang, Myun-Ho,Choi, Soo-Young,Jang, Tae-O,Kim, Sang-Kook,Kwon, Oh-Shin,Kang, Tae-Cheon,Won, Moo-Ho,Park, Jin-Seu,Baek, Nam-In The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2002 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.25 No.5
The succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSADH) inhibitory component was isolated from the EtOAc fraction of Lactuca sativa through repeated column chromatography; then, it was identified as phytol, a diterpenoid, based on the interpretation of several spectral data. Incubation of SSADH with the phytol results in a time-dependent loss of enzymatic activity, suggesting that enzyme modification is irreversible. The inactivation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics with the second-rate order constant of $6.15{\times}10^{-2}mM^{-1}min^{-1}.$ Complete protection from inactivation was afforded by the coenzyme $NAD^{+}$, whereas substrate succinic semialdehyde failed to prevent the inactivation of the enzyme; therefore, it seems likely that phytol covalently binds at or near the active site of the enzyme. It is postulated that the phytol is able to elevate the neurotransmitter GABA levels in central nervous system through its inhibitory action on one of the GABA degradative enzymes, SSADH.

Background/Aims: Grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) has been reported to have a beneficial effect on regulating inf lammation. However, the anti-inflammatory mechanism of GSPE remains unclear. The aim of this study was to verify the influence of GSPE on the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)-mediated signaling pathway in the regulation of murine autoimmune arthritis. Methods: Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) was induced in dilute brown non-agouti (DBA)/1J mice. The mice were treated with GSPE (0 or 100 mg/kg) intraperitoneally. The severity of arthritis was assessed clinically, biochemically, and histologically. Immunostaining for TLR4 was performed. The expressions of TLR4 and downstream signaling molecules were analyzed by Western blot. The effect of GSPE on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced TLR4 activation was also evaluated using RAW264.7 cells and fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and from those with osteoarthritis. Results: GSPE attenuated the clinical severity of arthritis and decreased histological damage. GSPE treatment reduced the number of TLR4-stained cells in the synovium of mice with CIA. GSPE also downregulated the expression of TLR4, myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) and phosphorylated IκBα synovial protein in CIA mice. Concurrently, GSPE inhibited the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) subunits (p65 and p50). LPS-induced TLR4 activation was suppressed by GSPE in human FLS as well as in murine macrophages in vitro. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that GSPE ameliorated CIA by regulating the TLR4-MyD88-NF-κB signaling pathway.

N-polar, Ga-polar, and non-polar GaN was grown by MBE and MOVPE using various substrates and influence of polarity has been investigated. The GaN growth by MOVPE is along cplane (0001), c-plane (0001), and a-plane (11-20) direction on c-plane (0001), a-plane (11-20) and rplane (1-102) sapphire substrate respectively. The polarity of the film has a strong influence on the morphology and the optical properties of PA-MBE grown As-doped GaN layers. Strong blue emission from As-doped GaN was observed only in the case of N-polarity (000-1) layers, which was attributed to the highest concentration of Ga dangling bonds for this polarity of a GaN surface.
