Absorption of sulfur dioxide by rice plant of 10 varieties and its relation to the varietal resistance and nutrient contents of leaves in accordance with the increased sulfur contents were studied on rice plants in Ulsan district suffered from smoke injury as compared with those in Jinju district being not suffered. 1. The typical symptoms of SO₂ gas injury showing the smoky spots were presented on suffered leaves of rice plant in Ulsan district, however no symptoms were appeared in Jinju. 2. Soluble sulfur contents of leaves in affected rice plant in Ulsan were generally high, presenting the amount of 0.176%. 3. Average nitrogen content of suffered leaves in Ulsan was 1.68%, and showed statistically high correlation with soluble sulfur content. The correlation coefficient(r) was +0.557. 4. Negative correlation were revealed between S and Ca, K and P contents of leaves, having the coefficient of -0.354, -0.378, -0.27 respectively, and no significant correlation was found. 5. Mn, Mg and SiO₂ contents of leaves were showed no connection with S content of leaves. 6. The ratio of SiO₂/N and K₂O/N of leaves were highly correlated with S content having the coefficient of -0.535, -0.512 respectively. The ratio of K₂O/SiO₂ and CaO/MgO were not significantly correlated with S content. 7. Of the rice yield components, weight of unpolished rice per 10a, weight of unhulled rice 「per 10a, mating ratio, number of grain per panicle, 「panicle length and clum length of affected rice plant in Ulsan district were remarkedly reduced as compared with healthy rice plant in Jinju. 8. Weight of unpolished rice, number of grain per panicle and number of panicle, of the yield components for suffered rice plant in Ulsan district were revealed high amount in "Nopoong" variety and in "Milyang 23", the next.

The main problems in structural analysis by Finite Eelement Method are difficulty in making data file and error estimation. For decreasing these problems' pays. have been suggesting the adaptive mesh refinement and error estimation method. Posteriory error estimation methods suggested by Jang[1], Babuska[2,3], Ohtsubo[8,9], and this paper. Comparing these methods and examine their properties. According this paper, In the problem supposed having singularity, the method suggested by this paper is good, But the problem supposed having no singularity, the method suggested by Jang[1] is good. For decreasing the effect of initial mesh in p-refinement, make application h-refinement at first and apply p-refinement, and confine polynomial's degree to two, for making program simply by plural mesh models are not needed.

Two cases of pulmonary disease in a 54 year-old female and a 70 year-old male patient due to Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAIC) and a case of pulmonary infection in a 69 year-old male patient due to M fortuitum (MF) were found recently in this institute. All three patients bad a long history of anti-tuberculous chemotherapy because they were initially diagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis. A 70 year-old male patient infected with MAIC had an unsuccessful chemotherapy history of isoniazid (INH), para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS) and streptomycin (SM) with an incomplete, temporary, symptomatic improvement, for three years since 1964 when he was first diagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis on physical examination. A 54 year-old female patient infected with MAIC also had an unsuccessful chemotherapy history with the various anti-tuberculous drugs since 1958. Both patients discharged large number of MAIC in their sputum specimens for at least more than one year, but no M tuberculosis at all. A 69 year-old male patient infected with MF was diagnosed as moderately advanced pulmonary tuberculsis in 1977. Combined chemotherapy with INH+PAS+pyrazinamide (PZA) improved his clinical symptoms, however, his chest radiograph was deteriorated again in 1980 one year after he stopped therapy. Therefore he started chemotherapy again with INH+ethionamide (TH)+cycloserine(CS) but no improvement was noticed. MF was cultured from his sputum in August 1983 and he continuously discharged the same baeilli until last examination of January l982. Whether all three patients were initially infected with nontuberculous mycobacteria or complicated with predisposing tuberculosis was not clear because there were no reliable bacteriological Examination records.

The nucleate boiling heat transfer experiments are performed using a ternary refrigerant R407C which is a candidate of alternatives of HCFC 22. The boiling phenomena for R-32, R-125, and R-134a which are the constituent refrigerants of R407C are also investigated to give the foundation of theoretical research for the mixture component boiling. The nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients of R407C is less than those of HCFC 22 which has the similar physical and transport properties. Since the experimental results show the deterioration of boiling heat transfer coefficients of ternary mixture refrigerants R407C, the boiling heat transfer coefficients of R407C cannot be obtained by the linear combination of boiling heat transfer coefficients from its constituent components R-32, R125, and R134a.

<P>The invariant yields, dN/dy, for J/psi production at forward rapidity (1.2 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.2) in U + U collisions at root S-NN = 193 GeV have been measured as a function of collision centrality. The invariant yields and nuclear-modification factor R-AA are presented and compared with those from Au + Au collisions in the same rapidity range. Additionally, the direct ratio of the invariant yields from U + U and Au + Au collisions within the same centrality class is presented, and used to investigate the role of c (c) over bar coalescence. Two different parametrizations of the deformed Woods-Saxon distribution were used in Glauber calculations to determine the values of the number of nucleon-nucleon collisions in each centrality class, N-coll, and these were found to give significantly different Ncoll values. Results using N-coll values from both deformed Woods-Saxon distributions are presented. The measured ratios show that the J/psi suppression, relative to binary collision scaling, is similar in U + U and Au + Au for peripheral and midcentral collisions, but that J/psi show less suppression for the most central U + U collisions. The results are consistent with a picture in which, for central collisions, increase in the J/psi yield due to c (c) over bar coalescence becomes more important than the decrease in yield due to increased energy density. For midcentral collisions, the conclusions about the balance between c (c) over bar coalescence and suppression depend on which deformed Woods-Saxon distribution is used to determine N-coll.</P>

A typical cylindrical explosion device scaled down from actual Fuel-Air-Explosive Devices is selected as the research object of this paper, The behaviors and properties of material at high strain rates are studied, an electrical measurement is designed and carried out in the explosion chamber, the dynamic strain history of the large-deformation shell is measured and crucial fracture parameters are obtained. At the same time, the fundamental principle of the method is given, and the experimental results are discussed in detail. Some data are compared with theoretical solutions and they coincide well with each other.
