Water-in-diesel emulsion fuel has become a popular alternative fuel for diesel engines. The main limitation is related to its stability, whereby it relies heavily on surfactants to remain homogeneous, therefore causing production costs to rise. This paper highlights the application of real-time non-surfactant emulsion fuel supply system (RTES), a water/diesel emulsifying device without surfactants, to produce water-in-diesel emulsion fuel in a common rail direct injection diesel engine powered vehicle. In this study, RTES was installed near to the diesel fuel pump to ensure water-in-diesel emulsions were continuously fed to the engine. The test vehicle was set up on a roller dynamometer and operated following a modified West Virginia University (WVU) 5-Peak cycle. Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions were measured to determine the optimum water percentage of emulsion fuel and suitable timing for emulsion fuel to be introduced into the fuelling system based on the vehicle speed. The results revealed that the optimum water percentage of the emulsion fuel for the test vehicle is 10 wt%, as it was capable to reduce fuel consumption as well as nitrogen oxides and smoke emissions of a common rail direct injection diesel engine powered vehicle.
Credit Risk and Anomalies in Pakistan’s Stock Market

This paper investigates the relation between credit risk and stock return for publicly traded firms in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) over the period 2000–2017. Using credit ratings as a proxy for credit risk, we find that the credit risk–stock return relation is negative in Pakistan, as low-rated stocks (i.e., those with high credit risk) earn lower returns than high-rated stocks (i.e., those with low credit risk). This negative relation is robust to alternative measures of credit risk (e.g., Altman’s Z-score and the distance-to-default) and is also maintained even after controlling for size, momentum, and liquidity effects. Our study provides evidence of the default-risk anomaly in a frontier market that lacks adequate information infrastructure and faces high levels of political and economic uncertainty.

This work presents the comparative study among pole-placement (PP), optimalcontrol using output-feedback (OCOF), linear-quadratic regulator (LQR), and PID controllers for the twin rotor multi-input multi-output system (TRMS). The pitch and yaw are key attributes for stabilizing the TRMS MIMO system and control of flight. The main objective of this study is to use these classical controller techniques to monitor the pitch and yaw angles of TRMS and show the result of these techniques. Simulation results depicts the actual performance and reveals how PP outperforms the other techniques.

The main reason for the increase in cross-border mergers and acquisitions in developed and emerging countries is globalization and growing economic interdependence across countries. The state of the economy has a significant impact on whether cross-border mergers and acquisitions are encouraged or discouraged by international strategic capital market changes. This study empirically evaluates the influence of determinants of economic development on the scale effect of Cross Border M&As separately on emerging and developed nations as a research gap. We first separated the small and large scale firms based on companies’ worth and used panel regression to analyze the impact of GDP, employment rate, and market capitalization on cross-border merger & acquisition deals over the period of 2008-2018. Results indicate that GDP and market capitalization have a positive effect on CBM&A, whereas employment rate has a negative effect on CBM&A deals in large-scale firms of both emerging and developed countries. This study results offer the implication for the potential investors and policymakers to strategically analyze the implementation of cross-border mergers & acquisitions.

Stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) and stapled hemorrhoidopexy (SH) are well-established techniques for treating rectal prolapse and obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS). Occasionally, they can be associated with severe complications. We describe the case of a 59-year-old woman who underwent STARR for ODS and developed a postoperative pelvic hemorrhage. A computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a vast pelvic, retroperitoneal hematoma and free gas in the abdomen. Laparoscopy ruled out any bowel lesions, but identified a hematoma of the pelvis. Flexible sigmoidoscopy showed a small leakage of the rectal suture. The patient was treated conservatively and recovered completely. Surgeons performing STARR and SH must be aware of the risk of this rare, but severe, complication. If the patient is not progressing after a STARR or SH, a CT scan can be indicated to rule out intra-abdominal and pelvic hemorrhage. Laparoscopy is a diagnostic tool and should be associated with intraluminal exploration with flexible sigmoidoscopy.
Social Network Analysis of an Online Smoking Cessation Community to Identify Users’ Smoking Status

Objectives: Users share valuable information through online smoking cessation communities (OSCCs), which help peoplemaintain and improve smoking cessation behavior. Although OSCC utilization is common among smokers, limitations existin identifying the smoking status of OSCC users (“quit” vs. “not quit”). Thus, the current study implicitly analyzed user-generatedcontent (UGC) to identify individual users’ smoking status through advanced computational methods and real datafrom an OSCC. Methods: Secondary data analysis was conducted using data from 3,833 users of BcomeAnEX.org. Domainexperts reviewed posts and comments to determine the authors’ smoking status when they wrote them. Seven types of featuresets were extracted from UGC (textual, Doc2Vec, social influence, domain-specific, author-based, and thread-based features,as well as adjacent posts). Results: Introducing novel features boosted smoking status recognition (quit vs. not quit) by 9.3%relative to the use of text-only post features. Furthermore, advanced computational methods outperformed baseline algorithmsacross all models and increased the smoking status prediction performance by up to 12%. Conclusions: The results ofthis study suggest that the current research method provides a valuable platform for researchers involved in online cessationinterventions and furnishes a framework for on-going machine learning applications. The results may help practitioners designa sustainable real-time intervention via personalized post recommendations in OSCCs. A major limitation is that onlyusers’ smoking status was detected. Future research might involve programming machine learning classification methods toidentify abstinence duration using larger datasets.

Purpose: The treatment of acutely obstructing colorectal cancers is still a matter of debate. The prevailing opinion is that an immediate resection should be performed whenever possible. This study sought to determine whether immediate resection is safe and oncologically valid. Methods: We completed a retrospective 2-center cohort study using the medical records of patients admitted for acutely obstructing colorectal cancer under the care of the Colorectal Team, Noble’s Hospital, Isle of Man, and the Emergency Surgery Unit, Umberto I University Hospital, Rome, from March 2013 to May 2017. The primary endpoints were 90-day mortality and morbidity, reoperation rate, and length of stay. The secondary endpoints were status of margins, number of lymph nodes retrieved, and the rate of adequate nodal harvest. Results: Sixty-three patients were retrospectively enrolled in the study. Mortality was associated with age >80 years and Dukes B tumors. The length of hospital stay was shorter in patients who had their resection less than 24 hours from their admission, in those who had laparoscopic resection and in those with distal tumors. The number of lymph nodes retrieved and rate of R0 resections were similar to those reported in elective colorectal surgery and were greater in laparoscopic resections and in patients operated on within 24 hours, respectively. Conclusion: Immediate resection is a safe and reliable option in patients with acutely obstructing colorectal cancer.

The efficacy of one new modified and two old meridic diets on Helicoverpa armigera Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) for rearing six successive generations was studied. Duration of larval development for insects fed on the modified diet was considerably shortened as most of them went through only five stadia before pupation, while the per cent pupation and per cent eclosion were relatively higher than on other diets. The lowest pupal mortality (6.33 ± 0.13%) was recorded in the F1 generation reared on the modified diet, whereas the highest pupal mortality (19.49 ± 0.15%) was observed in insects reared on a natural diet in the F6 generation. Blending of chickpea Cicer arietinum L. and red kidney bean Phaseolus vulgaris L. flours with tomato paste proved highly favorable for adult reproduction. These results suggest that the vitality of the tomato fruitworm did not decline obviously after rearing on a modified diet for several generations.

Web technology is evolving with the passage of time, from a single node server to high availability and then in the form of Kubernetes. In recent years, the research community have been trying to provide high availability in the form of multi master cluster with a solid election algorithm. This is helpful in increasing the resources in the form of pods inside the worker node. There are new impact of known DDoS attack, which is utilizing the resources at its peak, known as Yoyo attack. It is kind of burst attack that can utilize CPU and memory to its limit and provide legit visitors with a bad experience. In this research, we tried to mitigate the Yoyo attack by introducing a firewall at load-balancer level to prevent the attack from going to the cluster network.
