無煙塊炭을 燃料로 使用하는 Griffin 型 熱風式熔銑爐에 있어 tuyere角을 5乃至 35度까지 變化시켜 同一한 送風條件下에서 操業하여 爐內壁의 浸蝕狀況, 熔解速度 및 熔湯溫度에 미치는 tuyere angle의 影響을 檢討하였던바 다음과 같은 結論을 얻었다. 1) Tuyere angle은 20度가 適合하였다. 2) Tuyere angle이 增加할수록 熔解速度는 느렸다. 3) Tuyere angle이 20度일때 熔湯의 溫度가 가장 높았다. Effects of tuyere angles range in 5°at 35° on melting velocity, tapping temperature and erosion of acidic fire brick had been studied in the Griffin type cupola operation using lump anthracite. The results were as follows: 1) Optimum tuyere angle was 20°. 2) Melting velocity was decreased as tuyere angle increase. 3) Tapping temperature was highest at 20° tuyere angle.
감나무의 Ethanol 추출액(抽出液)이 척출가토(剔出家兎) 장관운동(腸管運動)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Diospyros Kaki Thunberg is the species of persimmon tree that grows in Korea. Although its fresh or dried fruits are often served as a desert, it has little been known if persimmon tree has any specific pharmacological action. The leaves and branches of persimmon tree has long been used as folk remedies for palsy and frostbite in the southern part of Korea and it is also in use for the treatment of hiccup and nocturnal enuresis in chinese herbal medicine. Recently it was reported that an intravenous administration of Diospyros Kaki Thunberg ethanol extract (KTEE) into the animals lowered arterial blood pressure. Lee concluded from his study on the mechanism of depressor action of KTEE that at least a part of depressor response he observed was caused by acetylcholine-like action of KTEE. On the other hand little study has been made on the effect of KTEE on the motility of isolated animal intestines. Therefore the present study was undertaken to investigate effect of KTEE and the mechanism of its action on the motility of isolated rabbit duodenum. Ethanol extract of Diospyros Kaki Thunberg was prepared by boiling 1 kg of dried branches of persimmon tree in 1 liter of ethanol and the motility of isolated rabbit duodenum was recorded on physiograph by means of force transducer connected with Magnus apparatus. Doses of KTEE used were $5{\times}10^{-4}gm/ml,\;1{\times}10^{-3}gm/ml,\;and\;2{\times}10^{-3}gm/ml$. And the isolated duodenum was separately pretreated with acetylcholine $(5{\times}10^{-7}gm/ml)$, pilocarpine $(2.5{\times}10^{-6}gm/ml)$, histamine $(5{\times}10^{-6}gm/ml)$ and barium chloride $(2.5{\times}10^{-5}gm/ml)$ in order to find out interactions of these drugs with KTEE. The results obtained are as follows: 1. At doses of $5{\times}10^{-4}gm/ml,\;1{\times}10^{-3}gm/ml$ KTEE reduced contractions of isolated duodenum, while tonus as well as contaction of duodenum were depressed with $2{\times}10^{-3}gm/ml$ of KTEE. 2. Since the inhibitory effect of KTEE on the intestinal motility was not blocked by pretreatment with acetylcholine, pilocarpine, and barium chloride, it was strongly suggested that the inhibitory action of KTEE on intestinal motility is mainly Caused by its antihistamine effect. 3. It is also concluded that the principal substance of KTEE responsible for inhibition of intestinal motility may also have a vasodilating activity and would not be an acetylcholine-like substance in case it is same substance as that cause depressor responses.
실험적 뇌경색에서 Superoxide Radical 생성 및 Catalase, Superoxide Dismutase 활성도 변화에 관한 연구

To observe the role of oxygen free radical and enzymatic scavengers in cerebral ischemia, an infarction model was made using transorbital occlusion of the middle cerebral artery in cats. The changes of the superoxide radical production and the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase were measured. The results were as follows ; 1) The infarction of the left middle cerebral artery(MCA) territory was identified with intracardiac perfusion of a TTC solution after transorbital occlusion. 2) The superoxide radical activities after occlusion of the left MCA were not changed in all groups except for the decrease in 6 hours group of the right side compared to the control group(p<0.05). 3) The Mn-superoxide dismutase activities of the left side in the 12 hours group were significantly higher than those of the right side(p<0.01) and those in the control group(p<0.05). 4) The Cu, Zn-superoxide dismutase activities of the left side in the 3 hours group after occlustion of the left MCA were significantly higher than those in the control group(p<0.05). 5) The catalase activities of the left side of in the 3 hours, 6 hours and 12 hours groups after occlusion of the left MCA were significantly higher than those of the right side(p<0.05). 6) The catalase activities of the left side in the 12 hours group after occlusion of the left MCA were significantly higher than those in the control group(p<0.05). The authors suggest that the enzymatc scavangers such as Mn-SOD, Cu, Zn-SOD and catalase increased in the infarcted brain, which means an involvement of free radicals in cerebral infarction.
Two Genera of Trichodoridae (Trichodoroidea : Nematoda) New to Korea

전국식물기생선충 분포조사기간에 채집된 선충중에서 Dorylaimida 목, Trichodoroidea 상과의 Trichodoridae 과선중이 분류동정되었다. Trichodorus cedarus는 콩, 배추, 보리 및 사과등에서 채집되어 분류동정되었으며, Paratrichodorus porosus 콩, 마늘, 배추 및 옥수수 등에서 검출되었다. Trichodoroidea 상과의 선충은 아직까지 우리나라에 기록되지 않았었다. Trichodorus cedarus Yokoo, 1964 and Paratrichodorus porosus (Allen. 1957) Siddiqi 1973 were identified and described from the speciemens collected during the nationwide survey. Both the genera and the species are new to Korea.
뇌동맥류를 동반한 Cerebral Rete Mirabile 1예

The cerebal rete mirabile with intracranial aneurysm is rare. The authors presented a cerebral rete mirabile with aneurysm which was experienced by us recently and the literature review about 38 cerebral rete mirabile with intracranial aneurysms which were reported until 1981 in the whole world were made. A 22 years old Korean female was admitted due to sudden onset of severe headache and vomiting. Neurological finding revealed positive neck stiffness with Kernig' sign. The carotid angiogram showed narrowed internal carotid artery and distinct occlusion of middle cerebral artery with vascular network in the base of the brain and small aneurysm in the anterior choroidal artery. The patient was discharged following conservative treatment.
