Objectives This study investigated associations between symptom severity and neurocognitive functions in patients with major depressive disorder using comprehensive neuropsychological tests. Methods Ten patients with low depression (LD) and 22 patients with high depression (HD) participated. Symptom severity was determined by both the Beck Depression Inventory and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale. Additionally, anxiety was measured by the Korean version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-KYZ). Ten subtests of the Korean-Wechsler Adult Intelligence scale (K-WAIS), Stroop test, the word/design fluency tests were administered to assess cognition. Results The LD and HD groups did not differ in any of cognitive measures but anxiety level. Namely, the HD group obtained significantly higher scores on the state (U = 29.50, p < 0.01) and trait (U = 28.50, p < 0.001) anxiety scales than the LD group. A significant interaction effect between trait anxiety and depression severity was observed on the picture arrangement subtest of the K-WAIS [F (1, 27) = 5.09, p < 0.05]. Conclusions Cognitive deficits observed in patients with major depressive disorder may be related to other factors rather than current symptom severity. Trait anxiety possibly moderates the effect of current symptom severity on social judgment in these patients.
[C<sub>12</sub>mim][TFSI] 용매 내에서 인가 전압이 Alq<sub>3</sub> 결정 성장에 미치는 영향

The effect of voltage on Alq<sub>3</sub> crystal growth in [C<sub>12</sub>mim][TFSI] was investigated. The additional voltage was applied through 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, 6.0, 8.0, 10.0 V. Cast iron and ITO were used as two electrodes. Microstructure analysis revealed the rod shape of Alq<sub>3</sub>. When the applied voltage increases, the population of rod shape phases increases. The XRD analysis showed that the initial phase transited to γ and finally δ phases. The conventional growth methods of the vapor phase and the solution method need a high temperature of over 300 ℃, while the study’s new approaches can lower the heat-treatment temperature to 100 ℃. The phase transition was promoted faster when the applied voltage increased from 0 to 10.0 V. The additional voltage is thought to play a vital role in promoting the phase transition due to lowering the activation energy of nucleation. The phase and shape of OLED materials affect the performance of the OLED device. One can obtain various shapes and phases of Alq3 at a low temperature of 100 ℃, which is a promising technique for OLED material manufacturing. The results also suggest a new academic point of view to understand the nucleation behavior of OLED materials with artificially applied charges.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the modulation method affects the effectiveness of eliciting tactile sensations by electrical stimulation. Two methods were employed and the results were compared and analyzed; pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and pulse width modulation (PWM). Thirty-five healthy subjects participated in the experiments to measure the stimulation intensity that began to elicit a tactile sensation ? activation threshold (AT). Constantcurrent monophasic rectangular pulse trains were employed, and the stimulation intensity was varied from zero until the subject felt any uncomfortable sensation. The step size of the stimulation intensity was 100nC/pulse. After each experiment, the subject described the sensation both quantitatively and qualitatively. The two modulation methods did not make a significant difference as far as the AT values were concerned, but most of the subjects showed ‘intra-individual’ consistency. Also, it was confirmed that our range of the stimulation parameters enabled us to obtain three major tactile sensations; tickling, pressure and vibration. The results suggested that the stimulation parameters and the modulation type should be selected for each individual and that selective electrical stimulation of the mechanoreceptors needs more diversified researches on the electrode design, multi-channel stimulation protocol, waveforms of the pulse train, etc.
시청자 참여형 양방향 TV 방송을 위한 얼굴색 영역 및 모션맵 기반 포스처 인식

최근 자연스러운 인터페이스 하드웨어의 증가와 더불어 사용자의 자세를 인식하는 콘텐츠 산업이 부상하고 있다. 컴퓨터 비전 기술은 고가 하드웨어 장치의 대안으로 콘텐츠 산업의 발전에 효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 생방송으로 진행되는 시청자 참여형 양방향 TV 프로그램에 적합한 시청자의 포스처를 인식하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 검출된 얼굴 위치에서 획득한 사용자 얼굴색과 모션맵을 사용하여 사용자의 손 위치를 안정적으로 검출하고, 위치 관계 분석을 통해 포스처를 인식한다. 제안하는 방법은 복잡한 배경에서도 생방송 양방향 TV 프로그램에서 사용되는 세 가지 자세를 인식하는데 90%의 인식성능이 나타나는 것을 실험을 통해 확인하였다. As intuitive hardware interfaces continue to be developed, it has become more important to recognize the posture of the user. An efficient alternative to adding expensive sensors is to implement computer vision systems. This paper proposes a method to recognize a user’s postured in a live broadcast bi-directional participatory TV program. The proposed method first estimates the position of the user’s hands by generation a facial color map for the user and a motion map. The posture is then recognized by computing the relative position of the face and the hands. This method exhibited 90% accuracy in an experiment to recognize three defined postures during the live broadcast bi-directional participatory TV program, even when the input images contained a complex background.

Analysis of Dietary Fiber Content of Common Korean Foods

본 연구에서는 89종의 한국인 상용식품의 총 식이섬유 함량을 AOAC Prosky법으로 측정하였다. 각 식품군의 평균 총 식이섬유 함량을 습량기준으로 구해 보면 곡류 및 그 제품은 4.78±3.55%, 감자 및 전분류는 2.56±1.65%, 당류 및 그 제품은 1.94±0.77%, 두류 및 그 제품은 10.81±6.57%, 종실류 및 그 제품은 9.70±5.92%, 조마료류는 15.38±15.76%, 그리고 음료류는 4.98±4.35%를 함유하고 있었다. 식품별로 보면 곡류 중에서 통보리의 총 식이섬유량이 17.88%로 가장 높았으며, 백미는 0.96%, 현미는 2.75%, 보리쌀은 9.93%이었다. 두류 중에서는 대두, 노란콩과 검정콩이 각각 21.05와 20.42%로 가장 높았으며, 종실류 중에서는 검정깨가 21.34%로 가장 높았다. 조미료류 중에서는 산초가루가 52.43%, 고추가루가 39.37%로 총 식이섬유량이 높았으며, 음료류 중에서는 인스탄트 커피가루가 14.81%로 가장 높았다. 상용식품들의 총 식이섬유 분석치와 식품성분표의 조섬유량을 비교해 본 결과 총 식이섬유 분석치는 조섬유량의 0.12~23.4배 정도되는 넓은 범위를 보였다. 분석된 식품의 총 식이섬유 함량과 우리국민의 식습관을 고려해 보면, 백미 대신 현미를 섭취하고 잡곡의 혼용, 그리고 두류 및 그 가공품의 섭취를 권장하는 것이 식이섬유 섭취를 증가시킬 수 있는 방안이 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Eighty nine common Korean foods were analyzed by the enzymatic-gravimetric method developed by Prosky et al. and adopted by AOAC to determine total dietary fiber (TDF) content. The average TDF content of the foods analyzed was 4.78±3.55% for cereal and grain products, 2.56±1.65% for potatoes and starches, 1.94±0.77% for sugar and sweets, 10.81±6.57% for pulse and pulse products, 9.70±5.92% for nuts and seeds, 15.38±15.76% for seasonings, and 4.98±4.35% for beverages. The foods containing the highest TDF values in the food groups were whole grain barley (17.88%) in cereals, yellow soybean (21.05%) in pulses, black sesame (21.34%) in nuts and seeds, and red pepper powder(39.37%) in seasonings except San Cho powder(52.43%). TDF content of rice, the main staple food of Korea, was 2.75% for brown rice and 0.96% for well-milled rice. The TDF value of the foods analyzed ranged from 0.12 to 23.4 times that of crude fiber reported in the Korean food composition tables. When we consider dietary fiber contents of foods and food consumption patterns together, it is recommended to consume brown rice instead of well-milled rice and increase the consumption of minor cereals and pulses to raise dietary fiber intake.
