Transparent TiO$_{2}$ sols were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis to heat Ti precursor solutions, from Ti hydroxides obtained with neutralizing aqueous TiOCl$_{2}$ solutions having various concentrations of NaCI by aqueous NaOH solution, in the autoclave at 120$^{\circ}C$ The photocatalytic abilities of glass beads coated with the sol for gaseous benzene were evaluated. As a result, it was found that due to the increase of brookite phase in TiO$_{2}$ by controlling the concentration of Na ion the optical absorption of TiO$_{2}$ increases toward long wavelength but that in the area of short wavelength becomes relatively low and consequently the photocatalytic performance of TiO$_{2}$ thin film for benzene gas rather decreases, compared to that of composite film of anatase and brookite phases. These results suggest that in order for coated TiO$_{2}$ thin film to have high dissociation performance for benzene gas it is effective to form anatase and brookite phases compositely in TiO$_{2}$.

We analysed the operating properties of resistive type superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) based on YBCO thin films with a single line-to-ground fault. When a single line-to-ground fault occurred the short circuit current of a fault phase increased up to about 6 times of transport currents immediately after the fault instant and was effectively limited to the designed current level within 2 ms by the resistance development of the SFCL. The fault currents of the sound phases almost did not change because of their direct grounding system. The unsymmetrical rates of a fault phase were distributed from 6.4 to 1.4. It was found that the unsymmetrical rates of currents were noticeably improved within one cycle after the fault instant. We calculated the zero phase currents for a single line-to-ground fault using the symmetrical component analysis. The positive sequence resistance was reduced remarkably right after the fault but eventually approached the balanced positive resistance component prior to the system fault. This means that the system reaches almost the three-phase symmetrical state in about 60 ms after the fault. The ground currents were almost 3 times of the zero phase currents since most of the fault currents flowed through the grounding line.

Recently, the environmental load has rapidly increased with the burgeoning of world population and the great expansion of severe global environmental issues. Therfore, it is inevitable to develop technology to ensure a stable clean energy source to replace oil as well as energy saving technology. Under these circumstances, photovoltaics (elecric power generation directly from sun light using solar cell) have attracted world-wide attention because of its cleaness. This paper reviews photovoltaic measurements on the refernce conditions and reference cell mothod and studies photovoltaic devices on the performance measurement and evalution procedures. Especially, activation of the photovoltaic researches and industrialization are emphasized in this paper.

The starting switch of single-phase induction motor is mechanically operated by the centrifugal force. On account of the complex structure and high frequency in use, it is frequently broken down by defacement. In this viewpoint, in order to turn on and off the centrifugal starting switch fixed to the auxiliary winding in series without a point of contact. it is possible to improve conventional structure of starting switch by means of thyristor circuit through experiments.
전력 VDMOSFET를 이용한 4상 스텝 모터의 속도제어

Power VDMOSFET is very fast switching speeds. It can be used as cost effective interface switches for driving step motors directly from microprocessor. The vertical diffused metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor(VDMOSFET) has been used more extensively in recent years in power circuit applications. The interest in this device stems from the negative temperature coefficient of drain current exhibited by this transistor over a range of its output current in contrast to the positive coefficient of collector current exhibited by the bipolar transistor. The high switching speed of VDMOSFET ensures t hat switch transition losses are small. One method of the speed up of step motor Is to increase the motor supply voltage. Speed torque characteristic is improved by employing overdrive. Efficiency of step motor can be considerably increased by using chopper drive techniques. Operation characteristic of 4-phase step motor controlled by VDMOSFET with microprocessor is presented.

The single phase induction motor is used widely for the starting apparatus of industrial machines and small size home implements. In order to start the single phase induction motor which is in use with little capacity, starting switch is generally adopted. This starting switch is mechanically operated by the centrifugal force. On account of the complex structure and high freguency in use, it is freguently broken down by defacement. In this viewpoint, in order to turn on and off the centrifugal starting switch fixed to the auxiliary winding in series without a point of contact, I make an attempt to improve conventional structure of starting switch by means of thyristor circuit through experiments.
