The Effects of Internal Governance Mechanisms on Voluntary Disclosure
최원용 한국인적자원관리학회 2019 인적자원관리연구 Vol.26 No.4
Researches on the effects of internal governance mechanisms report contradictory results. Some researchers argue that internal governance mechanisms are able to reduce agency problems, but others assert that they are not effective and just spend firms’ resources. This study suggests that internal governance mechanisms may have different effects depending on managerial activities. Managers tend to comply with internal governance mechanisms in the managerial activities, such as disclosing activity, whose results are obvious and assessable because the consequences of their actions can be easily observed and evaluated by governance mechanisms. In the other hands, because it is difficult to evaluate whether managers’ actions are for shareholders’ value in ambiguous and non-assessable activities, managers eagerly entrenches themselves to protect their position and privilege. Therefore, internal governance mechanisms are more effective in obvious and assessable managerial activities than ambiguous and non-assessable ones. In this study, I investigated the effects of internal governance mechanisms on voluntary disclosure; the obvious and assessable activity. An empirical test was conducted on 331 Korean firms in 2017. This study found that the stronger internal governance structure, such as outside directors and stock option, the more a manager is likely to disclose the performance expectation or goal.
Visible Light Induced Degradation of Recalcitrant Pollutants Using Modified TiO2 Photocatalysts
최원용,배은영,김순현,경현숙 한국화학공학회 2007 화학공학의이론과응용 Vol.10 No.1
Dye-sensitized TiO2 and platinum ion-doped TiO2 photocatalysts were synthesized and their physicochemical characteristics and visible light reactivities were investigated. When ruthenium complexes were used as a sensitizer of TiO2, the visible light induced degradation of perchlorocompounds could be achieved through a reductive path. However, the sensitized TiO2 is not stable enough to be a practical photocatalyst. In a related sensitized TiO2 system, a simultaneousremoval of dyes and heavy metal ions was observed in visible light illuminated TiO2 suspensions and the removal rate of each component was synergistically enhanced. The electron injection from an excited dye into the conduction band of TiO2 and the subsequent reduction of metal ions on TiO2 take place concurrently to exhibit a novel synergic effect. This model system of ternary components (dye/ TiO2/metal ion) can be a basis of solar remediation technology for dye-contaminated wastewaters. On the other hand, platinum ion doped TiO2 as a visible light photocatalyst was synthesized and characterized to demonstrate its successful performance in degrading recalcitrant organic pollutants.
품질경영시스템과 환경경영시스템의 통합운영에 대한 실증적 연구
최원용 한국생산성학회 2001 生産性論集 Vol.15 No.3
This paper presents the integrated management system of QMS(quality management system) and EMS(environment management system). The system was developed from the empirical study of medium business sites for more then 5 years. To develop the system, we the analyzed theoretical backgrounds and the real world requirements of QMS and EMS. The proposed system can reduce the labor and other costs for controling the management process and the after service overload. In order to demonstrate the efficiency of proposed system, we present the case study of S Company.

A distributed system for tracking multiple targets with a pair of multifunction radars is proposed and implemented. The system performs track-to-track association and track-to-track fusion at the fusion center to form fused tracks. The association and fusion are performed using target state information linked via communication nodes from a radar at a remote location. Many factors can affect the track-to-track association and fusion performances. They include delays in data transmission buffer of the remote radar, the error in estimating time-stamp of the remote radar, and the gating in track-to-track association. The effects on association and fusion performances due to these factors are investigated through extensive numerical simulations.
