Background: Dysfunctional natural anticoagulant systems enhance intravascular fibrin for- mation in disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and plasma levels of natural anti- coagulants can be used in the diagnosis and prognosis of DIC. Herein, the diagnostic value of 4 natural anticoagulants was assessed, and the prognostic value of antithrombin and protein C were validated in a large population. Methods: Part 1 study included 126 patients with clinically suspected DIC and estimated plasma levels of 4 candidate anticoagulant proteins: antithrombin, protein C, protein S, and protein Z. Part 2 comprised 1,846 patients, in whom plasma antithrombin and protein C levels were compared with other well-known DIC markers according to the underlying dis- eases. The 28-day mortality rate was used to assess prognostic outcome. Results: Antithrombin and protein C showed higher areas under the ROC curve than pro- tein S and protein Z. In part 2 of the study, antithrombin and protein C levels significantly correlated with DIC score, suggesting that these factors are good indicators of DIC severity. Antithrombin and protein C showed significant prognostic power in Kaplan–Meier analyses. In patients with sepsis/severe infection, antithrombin and protein C showed higher hazard ratios than D-dimer. Platelet count showed the highest hazard ratio in patients with hemato- logic malignancy. In patients with liver disease, the hazard ratio for antithrombin levels was significantly high. Conclusions: Decreased plasma anticoagulant levels reflect florid consumption of the phys- iologic defense system against DIC-induced hypercoagulation. Plasma antithrombin and protein C levels are powerful prognostic markers of DIC, especially in patients with sepsis/ severe infection.

This paper insists that it is not a contradiction that although Hyobong(曉峰, 1888-1966), a great zen master in modern korea, positioned himself as a zen master in Taego dharma tradition(太古法統), in practice, he supported the theory of Bojo dharma tradition(普照法統) which is in conflict with Taego dharma tradition. Hyobong is a strict Ganhwa(看話) zen master who is belong to a dharma tradition of Haewon(海源,1691-1770) division(海源門派), Pyeonyang(鞭羊, 1581-1644) sect(鞭羊派), Cheongheo(淸虛, 1520- 1604) Dharma line(淸虛系). In spite of his original dharma tradition, after a dream in which Hyobong heard a dharma speaking of Gobongbeopjang(高峰法藏, 1351-1428) who is the 16th national preceptor(國師) of Songgwang temple(松光寺), very famous korean buddhist temple, he changed his buddhist name which was conferred on him from his buddhist teacher belonging to Taego dharma tradition. They say that this change of a buddhist name may mean that Hyobong received the dharma of Gobongbeopjang, but in opinion of this paper, this don't mean Hyobong's receiving of the dharma of Gobongbeopjang, but a action showing that he takes Bojojinul's the spirit of buddhist practice society as an idea for modern korea buddhism reform. So, in opinion of this paper, the reason why Hyobong raised Jinul's idea and supported the theory of Bojo dharma tradition comes from his spirit of the age, not from a political problem of which buddhist dharma tradition is authenticity . In addition, this paper considers shortly zen masters who have not been known well untill now in the line of Hyobong dharma tradition in the process of proving in the opinion of this paper. 본 논문은 효봉선사의 법통관을 고찰하여 태고문손임을 자임함에도 보조법통설을 주장하는 듯한 선사의 이중적 태도가 실제로는 전혀 모순이 없음을 주장하였다. 효봉선사는 스스로가 태고법통을 이어받은 청허계 편양파 중에서도 해원문파의 사람임을 자임하는 철저한 간화선사이다. 그런 선사가 몽중법문을 통해 송광사 제16국사인 고봉원묘의 법문을 듣고 이전의 법호와 법명을 바꾸었는데, 이것은 고봉의 법을 이었기 때문이 아니라 당대의 한국불교를 개혁할 가장 적합한 정신으로 보조지눌의 정혜결사의 정신을 선택했다는 자신의 의지를 천명한 행위로 이해해야 한다. 따라서 결론적으로 말하자면 효봉은 태고의 법통을 계승하면서도 한편으로는 지눌의 정신을 선양하고자 했다. 이런 점에서 보조법통설을 지원했던 효봉의 의지는 당대불교를 바라보는 그의 시대정신에 기인한 것으로 보아야만 한다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 주장을 논증하는 과정에서 아울러 아직 잘 알려지지 않은 효봉선사의 법계에 나타난 인물들의 사상과 법맥을 고찰하여 효봉의 근본정신이 어디에 있는가를 분석했다.
