The standards for heavy metal levels in crustaceans are 0.5 mg/kg and 1.0 mg/kg or lower for lead and cadmium, respectively. Further, the contamination levels of arsenic, mercury, methyl mercury, and tin are being continuously investigated, considering their current exposure levels. Shrimps are potentially exposed to heavy metals because they inhabit areas with abundant organic matter, such as sandy or muddy shores, places with a lot of seaweed, and estuaries. This study measured the monetary value of reducing consumer anxiety and increasing consumer confidence if the government prohibits the sale of shrimp species that exceed the threshold for specific heavy metals and of the top shrimp species for which no threshold for heavy metals is specified. We derived consumer willingness-to-pay (WTP). Combining the estimated WTP with the number of households in the country, the total value of benefits was estimated to be 363.9 billion won. The results of this study will provide an important empirical finding, showing to what extent specific policies regarding heavy metals in seafood can alleviate consumer anxiety and provide psychological reassurance.
국내 광(光)산업의 기술발전이 관련산업 수출입에 미치는 영향

Purpose This study analyzed the effects of technological development in the domestic photonics industry on the economy of South Korea and other countries. Design/Methodology/Approach The GTAP (Global Trade Analysis Project) model was used among computable general equilibrium (CGE) models that can explain not only interactions by economic sectors but also changes in macroeconomic variables. Findings Empirical results showed that if productivity increases due to the technological development of Korea’s photonics industry;economic indicators such as GDP and exports volume improve. Second;production and sales volume of the domestic photonics industry increased;but the market price index of the sector fall. This is probably because labor;land;and capital become more concentrated in the photonics industry due to increased productivity of the sector. Third;as the technological development level of the photonics industry grows;import increase exceeds export increase. The increase in imports is believed to be due to relatively high dependence of the downstream industry on imports. Research Implications This study contributes to the extant literature in analyzing how technological changes in the photonics industry;which is said to be a core technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution;affects domestic industries. It shows that if import dependence of the downstream industry of the sector remains high;increases in imports will be larger than increases in exports even if productivity increases. This suggests the need for the development of source technology and for expansion of support policy toward core parts of the photonics industry to lower import dependence of the photonics industry.
글루텐프리식품 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 -여대생,대학원생을 중심으로-

This paper analyzes factors that affect purchasing intention for Gluten-free food by female undergraduate and graduate students. We included independent variables such as awareness of the food, involvement for healthy dietary life, attitude toward the food, experience of chronic indigestion, experience of weight control, and demographic variables. This study is the first, as far as we know, to study consumer behavior, attitude, and intention regarding gluten-free food. Our results indicate that respondents who answered ``not aware`` were larger than those who answered ``aware`` for the food. It also appeared that the half of respondents who answered ``yes`` for intake experience of the food appraised the experience positively. The reason with highest frequency respectively of intake and not intake was ``to enhance health`` and ``don``t see the necessity.`` The result of binomial logistic regression model suggests that awareness of gluten-free food, involvement for healthy dietary life, attitude toward the food, experience of chronic indigestion, experience of weight control affect purchasing intention toward gluten-free food, while household income level is not statistically significant.
인구구조모형과 시계열모형 결합을 통한 식품 지출액 예측

This study attempts to forecast food expenditure, including expenditure for eating out, a decade later which might vary, according to changing structure of demographics. Focus was given to a comparison for the changes of food expenditure in single households versus the changes in general households. For estimation, data of Household Income and Expenditure Survey and Household Projection by Statistics Korea were used. The data were plugged into a modified model of 孟 哲男․井田憲計(2013) to investigate how the structure of food expenditure evolves in accordance with changes in total population, age structure, and family type. The 孟․井田 model was modified by incorporating an autoregressive (AR) specification to remedy a shortcoming of the model. Results show that while trends due to other factors than changes in population structure act to increase the overall food expenditure, the changes in population and household structure affect the expenditure to decrease. This suggests a slowdown in the total food consumption according to the stagnant and aging population in following decades. The increase in single households will affect the food expenditure to increase, but decreasing total number and average family member of general households and aging population will affect in the opposite direction.
