Purpose: To evaluate the correlation between the conventional method and the clinical history method for intraocular lens power calculation for cataract surgery in eyes with previous photorefractive keratectomy in the absence of pre-PRK data. Methods: The medical records of 38 eyes in 23 patients who had been treated with PRK for myopia and were followed up for more than 1 year were reviewed. The IOL powers by conventional method using post-PRK keratometric value and by clinical history method were compared. Results: The mean values of IOL powers by conventional method, and by clinical history method were +20.58±1.10D (range, +16.37~+22.80D) and +21.06±0.85D (range, +18.85~+22.8D), respectively. The following equation describes the regular relationship between the two methods: IOLCHM (clinical history method)= 0.683*IOLCM (conventional method) +7.005 (r=0.878, p<.01). When the IOL powers by conventional method were applied to this equation, the mean difference of value between the IOL powers calculated from this equation and those of the clinical history method was?0.01±0.41D (range, -0.99~+0.76D). Conclusions: This equation will be helpful to calculate the IOL power for cataract surgery in eyes with previous PRK in the absence of pre-PRK data.

라식 후 임상병력법과 각막지형도상의 각막굴절력 비교

Purpose: To determine the Orbscan corneal power which gave the best correlation with refraction-derived keratometric value (clinical history method) after LASIK in cataract surgery. Methods: A total of 38 consecutive eyes of 19 patients who were followed up for at least 1 year after LASIK were included in study. The refraction-derived keratometric values were correlated with Orbscan corneal power within 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 mm diameter zones of keratometric, anterior and total selections of mean, axial, tangential and optical power maps. Results: The Orbscan corneal power of the 5-mm zone optical power total map gave the best correlation with refraction-derived keratometric value. The following regular relationship in linear regression analysis was derived: RDKV(refraction-derived keratometric value)=0.9×OPT5(corneal power of Orbscan optical power total map 5-mm zone)+4.941(r=0.883). Conclusions: These results indicate that the corneal power of the 5-mm zone optical power total map was the most appropriate to calculate IOL power in cataract surgery after LASIK when using Orbscan topography.

EpH4 세포에서 TGF-β에 의한 세포사멸시 Smad 단백질에 의존한 Gadd45b 유전자의 발현 변화

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)에 의해 유도되는 세포사멸 과정은 정상 조직에서 손상 받은 조직이나 비정상적인 조직을 제거하는데 중요한 역할을 담당한다. Gadd45b는 p38 kinase를 활성화시킴으로 TGF-β에 의해 유도되는 세포사멸 과정을 매개한다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 TGF-β에 의해 세포사멸이 일어나는 EpH4 세포에서 Gadd45b 유전자의 발현이 TGF-β에 의해 촉진됨을 보여주었다. 어떠한 기작으로 TGF-β에 의해 Gadd45b 유전자의 발현이 촉진되는지 알아보기 위해 Gadd45b 유전자의 5'-flanking region을 cloning하였으며, EpH4 세포에서 TGF-β에 의해 그 promoter activity가 증가함을 확인하였다. 여러 가지 deletion mutants를 제조하여 promoter activity를 조사한 결과 전사 개시점으로부터 220 bp upstream 부위에 promoter activity에 필수적인 sequence가 존재함을 확인하였다. 또한 TGF-β에 의한 Gadd45b 유전자의 promoter activity에 Smad2, Smad3, 그리고 Smad4가 중요한 기능을 담당함도 확인하였다. 마지막으로 ras 유전자가 도입되어 TGF-β에 의한 세포사멸이 억제되어있는 EpRas 세포에서 TGF-β에 의한 Gadd45b 유전자의 발현을 확인한 결과 EpRas 세포에서 TGF-β에 의한 Gadd45b 유전자의 발현이 억제됨을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 Gadd45b 유전자가 EpH4 세포에서 TGF-β에 의한 세포사멸을 유도하는데 중요한 기능을 담당할 가능성이 높음을 의미하는 것이다. Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)-dependent apoptosis is important in the elimination of damaged or abnormal cells from normal tissues in vivo. Gadd45b has been known to participate in TGF-β-induced apoptosis by the activation of p38 kinase. In this report, we show that Gadd45b is an immediate-early response gene for TGF-β during apoptosis in EpH4 cells. To elucidate the molecular mechanism of TGF-β-induced Gadd45b gene expression, we cloned the 5'-flanking region of the mouse Gadd45b gene. When transfected into EpH4 cells, this 5'-flanking region conferred promoter activity and inducibility by TGF-β. Deletion analyses demonstrated that the minimal promoter activity was detected in the proximal region 220 bp upstream of the transcription initiation site. We also found that the proximal Gadd45b promoter is activated by TGF-β through the action of Smad2, Smad3, and Smad4. Finally, we show that the expression of Gadd45b gene by TGF-β is suppressed in EpRas cells in which TGF-β could not induce apoptosis, suggesting that Gadd45b may be a crucial target for TGF-β-induced apoptosis in EpH4 cells.

EEG 분류를 위한 매개변수 선택형 시스템 설계에 관한 연구

EEG 신호에 대한 연구는 의학, 신경과학, 심리학, 컴퓨터과학, 전자 공학 등 여러 학문 분야에서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. EEG 신호는 추출하는데 있어서 필연적으로 각종 Artifact와 분석대상이 아닌 신호가 혼재되어 분석 결과의 부정확성을 가지고 있어 EEG 신호의 활용이 주목받은지 오래되었지만 충분히 활용되지 못하고 있다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 각종 필터링 연산 등을 통하여 잡음을 제거하고 혼재된 신호를 분류해 내고 있지만, 잡음제거나 신호분류에 사용되는 방법이 고정된 수식을 이용하는 방법이기 때문에 유연한 측정 및 분류를 할 수 없는 것이 현실이다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 매개변수 선택형 시스템은 정제되지 않은 EEG 신호에서 신호에서 잡파를 제거하고 정제된 신호에서 분석에 필요한 특징을 추출하는데 있어 사용자에게 착용된 EEG 신호 측정기기에서 전극채널, 신호발생영역 및 주파수 대역 등의 매개변수를 선택하고 필요에 따라 매개변수에 가중치를 부여함으로써, 측정의 정확성을 높이고 EEG 신호의 활용에 신뢰도를 향상 시킬 수 있다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was intended to examine the importance and role of social capital in the local community, and empirically identify the relationships among the social capital, community spirit, resident satisfaction, and community participation of the residents of urban-rural complex areas. Methods: This study conducted a survey was conducted with residents of the urban-rural complex areas to collect data, and the data were statistically and empirically analyzed to verify the hypothesis. Results: As a result of the study, first, networks and trust as local social capital were found to have positive effects on local attachment. Second, networks and trust were found to have positive effects on social ties. Third, local attachment and social ties were found to have positive effects on resident satisfaction. Finally, community participation was found to have moderating effects on the relationship between social ties and resident satisfaction. Conclusion: Through this study, the importance and role of local social capital in urban-rural complex areas, where regional problems are highly likely to occur, were reviewed, and basic data necessary to solve the social problems at hand in urban-rural complex areas and promote continuous development were provided can be said to be the significance of this study.

해외 현장실습 프로그램의 효율적 운영을 위한 개선방안 연구

본 연구에서는 해외 현장실습 프로그램이 기업이 원하는 인재를 육성하고, 학생과 기업간 수요-공급의 질적 불일치 해소 및 청년취업률 향상에 기여하도록 실질적 가치를 창출하는 방안을 연구하였다. 실제 사례로서 A대학 IT계열학부 학생들의 캡스톤디자인과 프로젝트수업 등 현장실습을 분석한 결과 현장실습 참가 전에 미리 준비하는 것이 현장실습의 효과성과 성과를 높일 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

Purpose: To evaluate the correlation between the conventional method and the clinical history method those determine intraocular lens (IOL) power for cataract surgery in eyes with prior laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in the absence of pre-LASIK data. Methods: The medical records of 200 eyes in 100 patients who had been treated with LASIK for myopia and were followed up for more than 6 months were reviewed. The IOL powers by conventional method using post-LASIK keratometric value and by clinical history method were compared. Results: The mean values of IOL powers by conventional method, and by clinical history method were +20.00±1.48D (+13.74~+23.23D) and +20.79±1.28D (+17.27~+24.32D), respectively. The following equation describes the regular relationship between the two methods: IOLCHM (clinical history method)=0.708*IOLCM (conventional method) +6.624 (r=0.816, p<.01). Conclusions: This equation may offer more accurate IOL power for cataract surgery in eyes with prior LASIK surgery in the absence of pre-LASIK data.
