Vol.10 No.4

This paper is the result of a petrochemical study on the Jongam granite mass which intruded metasediments of Ogcheon zone, locating about 10km northwest from Miweon town, and the mass is $2.5km^2$ in area. In this study, the granite was petrographically analysed in such ways, modal analysis, myrmekite analysis, petrochemical study analysis and tectonic analysis of joint system. The findings are as follows: 1) The area of the granite distributed is a basin surrounded by metasediments. The granite is magma origin. 2) The major mineral composition of the granite are quartz, plagioclase, microcline orthoclase and biotite, and accessaries are muscovite, sericite, magnetite, zircon and sphene. 3) In triangles of $Qu-K{\cdot}fp-PI$, Bi-Or-Hb+Mt and Qu-Ab-Or, the data point areas are similar to those of the NW zone of D.S. Lee (1971) 4) The granite mass can be divided into three granites; quartz monzonite, granodiorite and biotite granite, by petrological aspect in detail. 5) It shows inverse ratio of content between quartz and plagioclase. 6) The myrmekite-texture of the granite are stem type and dominating in northern part. 7) In the tectonic analysis of joint, the strikes are almost constant in direction, N-S direction of dominant joints 8) The geological age of the granites estimated to be Jurassic in age. 9) According to the mineralogical distribution and joint systen, the intrusion direction of the granite magma was infered as from north to south.

      • Black hole

Vol.10 No.-

Recently, the black holes in the universe are discovering the unknown factors under veils. There are something is strained from each materials in the universe, at last, they change small point. It is based on Einstein's general relativity equations, the concept strains belief. If a star is large enough-at last, three times as massive as the sun-it will eventually die a grand cataclysm. As its nuclear fires begin to burn out, the stellar gases begin falling toward the star's core. Moving at tremendous velocities, they crush together, forming a sphere only three or four kilometers across, so dense that each cubic inch of material weighs trillions of tons. The small sphere has a gravitational field so strong that no radiation-even light-can escape from what has become a totally invisible "black hole." If the theory is correct, there could be countless black holes among the billions of stars in every galaxy. But if no light or other radiation can escape from them, how can astronomers prove that they really exist? The answer may lie in the constellation Cygnus(The Swan), where scientists are now almost certain that they have located a black hole. Its presence was hinted at in 1971 by the first earth-orbiting X-ray satellite Uhuru, which detected a strong and widely fluctuating flow of X-Ray from Cygnus, scientists suspected that the radiation source, which they named cygn X-1, was a pulsar, or neutron star, the result of a different from of stellar collapse. Shortly thereafter, radio astronomers, using their more sharply focused antennas, picked up radio signals from the area. That gave a much more precise fix on Cygnus X-1, letting other astronomers train big optical telescopes on the site. There they found a huge star at least 20 times as massive as the sun. It was traveling erratically through space, as if it were being tugged by a smaller companion star moving around it. From this gravitational pull, astronomers figured that the unseen star had at least three times the mass of sun. Was the invisible companion a black hole? In 1967 Soviet theoreticians had suggested that if a black hole were orbiting a larger, visible star, it would draw gases from the star. As those gases spiraled toward the black hole, they would collide, compress and heat up to as high as 100 million degrees-enough to produce an intense flow of X Rays. Recent findings by NASA's new Copernicus earth satellite reveal that Cygnus X-1 shows a sharp decrease in X-Ray emissions every 5.6 days. That, according to astronomers, seems to be the time it takes the bright star's unseen companion to make one trip around it. In other words, every 5.6 days the black hole passes behind the visible star. Then the supergiant partially blocks X-Rays. The combined calculations and observations add up to best proof yet that a black hole has been found.

Vol.7 No.-

This work is astronomy part which is the second research on the substances of Griffin's science teaching materials printed in page 13-41 on the Journal of Elementary Science and Mathematics Education(Vol.Ⅳ,1979)by Institute of Science Education, Cheong Ju Teachers College. The study of the sky goes back a very long way, and it has major implications for such activities as agriculture and war, as well as lerigion and astrology. This honourable subject has now become one of the biggest "growth" science, as discoveries progress at least as rapidly as space programmer. Here we shall scratch at the surface of the work, trying to learn a little of the basic ideas- and basic fascinations- in the field. The Work is enjoyable and relevant to modern life;you may well find yourself caught up in what becomes a fascinating hobby. A rough guide to the work that you will be doing in this practical project is set out in the contents list. Some of this work will be general observation;some a little bit more "scientific" Some work will involve building models, some investigating basic principles. Look at the sky-and enjoy what you see. But don't fall into any open main-holes.

Vol.9 No.6

The Compression molding process is widely used in the automotive industry to produce parts that are large, thin, light-weight, strong and stiff. Compression molded parts are formed by squeezing a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene sheet, known as glass mat thermoplastic(GMT), between two heated cavity surfaces. In this study, the an isotropic viscosity of the Unidirectional Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Composites is measured using the parallel plastometer and the composites is treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of molding parameter and fiber contents ratio on longitudinal/transverse viscosity are also discussed.

Vol.11 No.1

The purpose of the research is to investigate the effects of a portfolio system on students' socio-psychological classroom environments in elementary science class. Two schools were selected from a metropolitan area, a city, and one school from a rural area in central Korea. Two fifth-grade classes were sampled from each school selected, and one class is assigned to experimental group and the other to control group, respectively. The total number of participants of the study is 399. Portfolio system was administered to experimental group, and conventional teaching to control group for two and half month. WIHIC, an inventory to measure socio-psychological classroom environment, was administered as a pre-and post-test. Experimental group gained statistically higher scores on WIHIC after administering portfolio system. They showed more positive perceptions on sub-areas of WIHIC such as teacher support, task orientation, and equity. There is interaction between region and group: the effects of the portfolio system is highest in rural area, lowest in metropolitan area, and the city in between. Portfolio system have positive effects on students' socio-psychological classroom environments. Enhanced socio-psychological classroom environments is expected to contribute to positive self-concept, higher science achievements, and self-directed learning.

Vol.7 No.-

In 1967, the science of education study group was organized by the science faculty members whom were prof. Kim, Sang-ok, prof. Kim, Young-dae, prof. Choi, Byung-mun, full time lecturer Cho, Seon-hyeong(joined in 1970), full time lecturer Moon, Chan-ho(joined in 1972), and prof. Park, Tae-woo at Dept. of Education at the Cheongju National Education College. The others were teacher Lee, Bu-young at the Attached Elementary school of Cheongju National Education College and Neil Woodruff, a United States Peace Corp member in 1970. They imported the Science Curriculum Improvement Study(SCIS, Berkeley team head Karplus, University of California, 1965) program materials which were textbooks, teachers guides, teaching materials and others in 1967. And then We translated the SCIS textbooks and the teacher's guides and the teaching materials manuals on korean language, and prepared or bought teaching materials for one class. The study group put the SCIS program materials into experiment classroom in attached primary school of Cheongju National Education College, step by step, from first to fifth grade which class were nether changed and nor mixed for 5 years from 1968 to 1972. In 2002 and now after 30 years have passed, the author studies the trace research according to students who learned in the SCIS science curriculum in primary school, but too many years passed to analyzed things at that time. The result of this study are as follows: First, SCIS Program showed no significant effect to improve students' learning achievement under the National Curriculum at the time. Second, the program showed significant effect on improving the ability of scientific thought and the formation of scientific concept which was supported by the previous researches. Third,, for the students who were experienced in the Program inspite of became middle school students, but in case of high school students decreased the students preference of science. Fourth, the efforts of SCIS Program in elementary school showed no significant effect of the students decision of their high school or university course. Fifth, the SCIS Program had an effect when the students who had formed the ability of scientific thought and the scientific concept, and experiencing in the Program learned middle school science. Sixth, the SCIS Program didn't have an influence on the decision of job and social life of the students' who had experienced the SCIS Program. It was showed the Third National Curriculum in Korea which had been effected by SCIS Program was a disparate curriculum on the problem solving of real life. Seventh, The students thought The SCIS Programs about 30 years ago are too many influence to social life and got jobs in these days.

The ocean area of earth surface is about 70% that 350 million Km^2 and use repository of human and vital every things foods or transportation and others, especially, my country blessed with natural resources is three sides surrounded with sea. Nevertheless, this 21 century is so-called oceanic century we all nation have to gp out on large ocean with big spirits likely king of marine commerce Changpogo in Silla dynasty about 1300 years ago. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of connection of ocean education contenes on elementary, middle and high school science textbooks in Korea. The suthor analysed chapters of ocean education divided four sections ocean physics, ocean chemistry, ocean biology according to : 1) There are connected many parts of the contents which are sea water nature, sea water pollution in ocean chemistry. 2) In ocean geology from elementary to high school levels, sea bottom terrain, continents draft and others treat deepen. 3) There are largely increasing only the ocean physics and ocean biology contents in middle school, but not connencted among elementary and high school levels. 4) Recently, The points of syntheisi are founded natural and social phenomenon in earth science education. 5) And then the contents of ocean education are less among meteorology, astronomy and geology and, they have to increase much more.
