In order to improve the mechanical properties and fracture toughness of HPT 1071/DDS system, poly(aryl etherimide) (PEI) was incorporated in the resin system. In HPT 1071/DDS system, mechanical properties of cured epoxy resins were not strongly dependent on the concentration of DDS curing agent strongly. In the case of HPT 1071/DDS/PEI system, the fracture toughness and flexural properties of epoxy resins increased with increasing the concentration of PEI. SEM micrographs of cured epoxy resin indicated that the phase separation occured at the low concentration of PEI in this system. In addition, investigation of the relationship between mechanical properties and the morphology of modifed epoxy resin was undertaken in HPT 1071/DDS/PEI system.
실험연구 : 흰쥐 횡격막 신경근 표본에서 Vancomycin이 비탈분극성 근이완제의 신경근 차단에 미치는 영향

Background: Vancomycin is frequently used as a prophylactic antibiotic in patients undergoing cardiac and orthopedic surgical procedures. However, the interactions of vancomycin with non-depolarizing muscle relaxant have not yet been reported on. Therefore, we studied the effects of vancomycin on the neuromuscular block of vecuronium, rocuronium and atracurium in vitro. Methods: Square wave, 0.1 Hz supramaximal stimuli were applied to the phrenic nerve-hemidiaphragm preparation of the rat and the twitch height response was recorded. We measured cumulative concentration response curves of vecuronium, rocuronium or atracurium, respectively, and also those of the rats that were pretreated with vancomycin (20μg/ml). The EC50 and EC95 of these muscle relaxants alone and those of the rats pretreated with vancomycin were calculated with using an inhibitory sigmoid Emax model. Results: Vancomycin alone did not depress the twitch height. The pretreated vancomycin (20μg/ml) did not affect the EC50 and EC95 of vecuronium or rocuronium, but it significantly reduced the EC50 and EC95 of atracurium (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Vancomycin itself does not have neuromuscular blocking properties. Vancomycin does not affect the neuromuscular blockade induced by vecuronium or rocuronium, but it significantly enhances the neuromuscular blockade induced by atracurium. HPLC와 GC/MS를 활용한 약용식물 유래 phytochemicals 분석

본 연구는 홍삼, 인진쑥, 형개, 회향으로부터 기능성 성분을 분리 및 검출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 홍삼의 열수 추출물에 함유된 maltol과 adenosine을 HPLC를 이용하여 분리할 수 있었다. 그 중 maltol은 그 분획을 얻어 UV-visible 흡광도의 측정과 MS를 이용한 분자량 측정을 통하여 maltol 임을 재확인하였다. 그리고 인진쑥, 형개, 회향을 여러 가지 용매로 추출하여 그 추출물을 GC-MS로 분석한 결과, 인진쑥에는 limonene, menthone, anethole 등의 성분이 미량 검출되었고 회향에는 limonene 외의성분은 거의 검출이 이루어지지 않았다. 본 실험 중 형개 추출물의 추출 효율이 가장 우수했는데 목적 성분 중 limonene, menthone, pulegone을 고농도로 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과로서 천연 약용 식물에서 기능 성분의 분리, 정제 시 각 성분에 대한 화학적 안전성을 확보할 수 있었으며, 한방 약초로부터의 기능성 화학성분의 정량분석을 HPLC, GC-MS 등의 분석방법으로 수행하였다. 본 실험의 결과는 향후 목적하는 phytochemicals을 함유한 복합체 기능성 연구에 사용하고자 한다. 약용식물 유래의 유용화합물과 안정성이 확보된 고분자 형성물질에 의해 만들어진 복합체는 새로운 기능을 나타낼 수 있으며, 식품, 화장품, 의약품 등에 다양한 이용가능성이 예상된다. Oriental herbs are reported as having potent functions for preventing many types of diseases. They also appear to have positive effects and potential capabilities for skin care. Among the many oriental herbs that are available, we chose to analyze four medicinal herbs, Korean red ginseng, Artemisia capillaries Thunb, Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq, and Foeniculum vulgare Mill, because all are popular and considered as favorite medicinal plants in Korea. Extracts of the herbs were obtained by various methods such as using distilled water, ethyl ether, methanol, ethanol, benzene, 1-butanol, and chloroform. Nine phytochemicals were detected in the extracts: maltol, adenosine, b-pinene, menthone, pulegone, limonene, anethole, estragole, and fenchone, which reportedly have multi-functionalities. All phytochemicals were analyzed quantitatively by various chromatographic techniques such as HPLC and gas chromatography-mass (GC-MS) spectrometry. This article also presents the optimum conditions for extracting these 9 targeted phytochemical compounds that were derived from 4 popular oriental herbs, which could be useful for the efficient preparation of each phytochemical.
