UL 268 (7판) 화재감도시험을 만족하는 화재감지기 개발

본 연구에서는 개정된 UL 268의 요리비화재시험과 폴리우레탄폼 화재시험과 폴리우레탄폼 훈소시험을 만족하는 멀티센서형 화재감지기를 개발하고 미국 시카고의 UL본사에서 UL 268 (7판)의 특별 프로그램인 “연구예비시험”을 신청하여 화재감지기의 화재 감도 성능을 확인하였다. 시험에 사용된 화재감지기는 포토센서로 구성되는 연기감지기의 암실과 CO센서, 이온화센서 등으로 구성되며 하나의 보드에 장착하였다. 또한 공기와 연소 가스의 흐름이 잘 이루어지도록 감지기의 상부 케이스는 윗면과 옆면에는 공간이 충분하도록 설계하였다. 실험결과, 폴리우레탄폼 화재시험에서 연기농도가 5%/ft 도달시간(3~4분)전에 감지기가 경보(3분 이내)를 하여 UL 268 폴리우레탄폼 화재시험을 만족하였다. 또한 폴리우레탄폼 훈소시험에서는 연기농도 12%/ft 도달시간 전(26분)인 22분~26분 사이에 감지기가 동작하여 UL 268 폴리우레탄폼 훈소시험 규정을 만족하였다. 요리비화재시험에서는 연기농도 1.5%/ft 도달시간(16분) 이후인 16분~18분 사이에 감지기가 동작하여 UL 268 요리비화재시험 규정을 만족하였다. In this study, we developed a multi-sensor fire detector that satisfies the revised requirements of the cooking nuisance test, polyurethane foam fire test, and polyurethane foam smoldering smoke test of UL 268, and the special program, UL 268 (7th edition), at the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois, United States. The fire detection algorithm was confirmed using the Research Preliminary Test program. Our fire detector was evaluated in a dark room with a smoke detector consisting of photoelectric, carbon monoxide, and ionization sensors, and was mounted on a board. In addition, the upper case of the detector is designed to have sufficient space on its top and side surfaces to allow the flow of air and combustion gases. As a result, in the polyurethane foam fire test, the detector triggered an alarm (within 3 min) before the smoke concentration reached 5%/ft (after 3-4 min); thus, satisfying the requirements of the UL 268 polyurethane foam fire test. In the polyurethane foam smoldering smoke test, the detector was operated for 22-26 min before the smoke concentration reached 12%/ft (after 26 min), thus satisfying the requirements of the UL 268 polyurethane foam smoldering smoke test. Lastly, in the cooking nuisance test, the detector was operated for 16-18 min before the smoke concentration reached 1.5%/ft (after 16 min), thus satisfying the requirements of the UL 268 cooking nuisance test. It can be concluded that the results of this study will be useful for the developers of similar products who want to obtain UL certification in the future.

시설물 내에서의 화재 발생시 재실자가 청각, 시각, 후각 등을 이용하여 얼마나 빨리 화재를 인지하느냐는 화재로 인한 인명피해를 줄일 수 있는 중요한 요소가 된다. 이러한 이유로 소방대상물에 거주자 또는 자동화재탐지설비가 화재를 감지하여 화재 발생을 건물 내의 거주자에게 경보하는 비상경보설비를 설치하게 된다. 화재초기에 고음의 경보음을 발하여 재실자에게 화재를 인지시키는 중요한 역할을 하는 것이 비상경보설비로서 음향 장치는 경종(벨)과 전자사이렌을 사용하고 있으나 소화설비의 일부 외에는 대부분 경종이 사용되고 있다. 최근에 회로집적 기술 등의 발달로 가격 경쟁력이 생겨나고 성능도 향상되는 등 전자사이렌 확대사용을 위한 환경이 조성되고 있다. 그러나 다양한 소리를 내는 전자사이렌이 사용되면 기존 경종 소리음에 익숙한 거주자들은 혼란을 겪을 우려가 크다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 전자사이렌의 소리를 경종의 소리와 유사하게 만들면 될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 시중에 판매되는 경종과 전자사이렌을 대상으로 각각의 제품이 가지는 고유 음압 특성과 주파수 특성 측정을 위한 실험을 수행하였으며 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 또한 각 시료별 차이점을 분석하고 이를 토대로 전자사이렌 경보음 보완을 위한 방안을 제시하였다. In the event of fire, how quickly occupants can hear, see, and/or smell the fire and then exit the building are important for reducing the number of potential casualties. After a person or an automatic fire-detection system detects a fire, an installed emergency alarm system is used to alert building occupants about the fire. The emergency alarm system plays an important role in alerting the occupants to the fire by emitting a high-pitched sound when the fire is initially detected. Although bells and electronic sirens can both be used in fire-alarm systems, usually only bells are used in most commercial fire alarms except for a few fire extinguishers. Recently, however, the development of circuit integration technology and subsequent competitive pricing and improved performance have fostered an environment favorable for the widespread application of electronic sirens. However, because electronic sirens that emit various sounds will likely confuse building occupants used to hearing familiar-sounding conventional fire-alarm bells, electronic sirens must be engineered to sound like conventional fire-alarm bells. Therefore, in this study, experiments were conducted to measure the specific sound pressure and frequency characteristics of commercially available fire-alarm bells and electronic sirens, and their characteristics were reviewed. In addition, the differences between the bells and sirens were analyzed to develop a plan for supplementing warning sounds of electronic sirens.

Recently recommendation methods need personalization and diversity as well as accuracy whereas the traditional researches have been mainly focused on the accuracy of recommendation in terms of quality. The diversity of recommendation is also important to people in terms of quantity in addition to quality since people’s desire for content consumption have been stronger rapidly than past. In this paper, we pay attention to similarity of data gathered simultaneously among different types of contents. With this motivation, we propose an enhanced recommendation method using correlation analysis with considering data similarity between two types of contents which are movie and music. Specifically, we regard folksonomy tags for music as correlated data of genres for movie even though they are different attributes depend on their contents. That is, we make result of new recommendation movie items through mapping music folksonomy tags to movie genres in addition to the recommendation items from the typical collaborative filtering. We evaluate effectiveness of our method by experiments with real data set. As the result of experimentation, we found that the diversity of recommendation could be extended by considering data similarity between music contents and movie contents.

The ocean-based launch is a system that performs launch at sea using launch platforms. In this research, we conduct a case study on ocean-based launch instances, mainly focusing on the case of the multinational corporation Sea Launch, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and others. Considering the inherent geographical constraints of the Korean space center, we find that the ocean-based platforms and processes can potentially be considered as an alternative means of space launch in Korea. Also, by investigating the types and characteristics of each country’s launch platforms, we propose an appropriate launch platform type for a potential Korean sea launch program.
