Schizencephaly is an unusual condition rarely detected antenatally. It is a neuronal migrational disorder consisting of clefts in the brain that communicate with the lateral ventricles. The etiology and the pathogenesis is not clearly estabilished. While some authors advocate a vascular insult with a secondary effect on brain development, others suggest a primary cerebral dysgenesis by genetic or acquired factors. The importance of making an accurate antenatal diagnosis is that the outcome for schizencephaly in considerably poor than for other causes of ventriculomegaly. Typical symtoms include seizures, mental retardation, spastic tetraplagia and blindness. We report a case of type II schizencephaly that was diagnosed antenatally in the third trimester with a brief reiew of literatures.

Poly(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate, HEMA)는 contact lens 재료물질로 사용되고, 물을 약 45퍼센트 포함하여 수화겔(hydrogel)을 만들 수 있는 고분자이다. Poly(HEMA)와 아미노산(alanine, arginine, methionine, proline, glycine, serine, lysine)과의 상호작용력을 DSC와 TGA 열분석법으로 측정한 결과 lysine, arginine, alanine의 결합성이 큼을 알 수 있었다. The interaction between poly(HEMA) which is material of contact lens containing about 45% water and amino acids (alanine, arginine, methionine, proline, glycine, serine, lysine) have been studied by using the thermal analysis methods through DSC and TGA. The experimental results of DSC and TGA were shown that lysine, arginine and alanine have the most stable interaction between poly(HEMA) and amino acids.
Thymol과 Carvacrol 유도체들의 합성과 식물병원균에 대한 항균활성

Forty one compounds such as ester, sulfonyl ester, carbamate, ether and phosphoyl ester derivatives of thymol(Ⅰ) and carvacrol(Ⅱ) were synthesized. These derivatives were identified by IR, GC/MS and 1H-NMR spectra. Their antifungal activities were tested against various plant pathogenicfugi. Among them, several compounds were showed potent in vivo antifungal activities. The selected compounds showing in vitro antifungal activities were tested in vivo antifungal activities aganint 5 plant diseases such as rice blast, rice sheath blight, tomato late blight, cucumber anthracnose, and cucumber gray mold. As a result, 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenylacetate(I-1a) effectively suppressed the development cucumber gray mold and rice blast. Methyl(2-isopropyl-5-methylphenoxy)acetate(Ⅰ-6d) and ethyl 4-(5-methyl-2-isopropylphenoxy)crotonate(Ⅰ-7d) also showed potent in vivo antifungal actively againt rice sheath blight and tomato late blight, respectively.
