Single base propellant using a nitrate ester compound NC decomposes naturally during storage time. Therefore, the research for storage life extension is necessary to single base propellant. In this research, $CaCO_3$ inorganic stabilizer had been added into single base propellants up to 0.3%, and the accelerated aging test of the propellant was started. And then, with applying the Arrhenius equation, the storage life of the test of the propellant was contrasted with that of reference propellant. As a result, the storage life of the propellant containing $CaCO_3$ inorganic stabilizer was about twice longer than the reference propellant.

The burning interruption between the initiator and the delay column in a Zr-Ni K1 delay system used for a K510 fuze occurs with long-time storage. About 10 % failure probability of 15-years stored delay systems shows the failure mode in open literature. This paper shows storage lifetime improvement results for the delay system through changing the single-base delay column into double-base ones and controlling the manufacturing processes especially the initial inclusion of humidity. The double-base delay columns was implemented by inserting one delay column of fast burning rates between the initiator and the previous delay column of slow burning rates. Accelerated aging tests of the delay systems with double-base columns, and then the firing tests were performed to evaluate the improved lifetime. The double-base delay columns shows improved storage lifetime of the delay system through preventing the failure mode.

A violet smoke hand grenade(KM18) is used to generate signals. The grenade is considered to fail when its smoke emission time is longer than the specified one so that its smoke concentration becomes lighter. Accelerated degradation test for the grenade was performed, and then failure in smoke emission time was reproduced from the test. Stress for the degradation test was selected as temperature/humidity from the pre-test results. Degraded data of emission time from the accelerated test were analyzed through applying a distibution-based degradation model. Then, Peck Model was applied to predict the storage life under field conditions. In addition, the predicted storage life was compared with that of ASRP(Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program).

A white smoke hand grenade, KM8 is used to make smoke screen in order to provide visual field interceptions or signals. The grenade fails when its time to emit smoke is longer than the specified emission time so that the smoke concentration becomes lighter. This paper considered failure in smoke emission time, and evaluated its storage lifetime. The main objective of this paper is to modify the present specification limits of smoke emission time for the efficient process control in manufacturing, through analyzing effect of its specification change on the storage lifetime, based on the lifetime evaluation results. Accelerated degradation test was performed and then failure in smoke emission time was reproduced from the test. And estimated storage lifetimes from the accelerated test results was compared to evaluated lifetimes of grenades using the ASRP data. Past process testing results of the grenade in manufacturing were analyzed in this paper. Then, each storage lifetime for the specifications, ${\pm}3$ and ${\pm}5$ in seconds, extended from the current specification in manufacturing were estimated using the past testing results, and compared to one another.

The corrosion properties of anodized films on aluminium 6070 alloy in a sulfuric acid have been studied. Comparison to evaluate the anodized A6070 and pure 6070 specimen, corrosion tests in HNO₃ vapor environment of the 20 wt.% were performed up to 72 hours. Characteristics of film formation and surface morphology were examined by optical microscopy, FE-SEM, and EDS. The oxide film anodized in the sulfuric acid solution contained 5 to 10 wt.% of sulfur. In the initial stages of corrosion, anodized specimens exhibited corrosion resistance than the pure specimen. However, the corrosion conditions in 24 hours, corrosion was far more anodized specimen than pure specimen. Therefore, anodized films contained sulfur, nitric acid vapor in the environment is thought to stimulate corrosion.

A fuze detonator comprising star shells is an important device so that its failure usually leads to failure of the shells. In this paper, accelerated degradation tests of RD1333 (lead azide) using temperature stress were performed, and then degradation data of explosive power for the detonator were analyzed to predict the storage lifetime of detonator. Degradation data analysis to estimate the storage lifetime is based on a distribution-based degradation process. Statistical distribution parameters of explosive power degradation measures at each time were estimated for each temperature level, and then reliability of the detonator for each accelerated temperature level was estimated using both time-varying distribution parameters and critical level of explosive power. Arrhenius model was applied to estimate storage lifetime of the detonator under the field temperature condition. Accelerated distribution-based degradation analysis to estimate storage lifetime is explained in detail, and estimation results are compared to field data of storage lifetime in this paper.

A propellant mainly consisting of nitric ester including nitrocellulose, nitroglycerine and nitroguanidine is characteristic of being decomposed naturally. And this phenomenon is known as being affected mostly by its storing temperature. In this research, the effect of storing temperature on self life has been studied by measuring the contained quantity of residual stabilizer of propellant KM30A1, ignition powder and combustible cartridge case, which are parts of 155MM propelling charge K676 and K677; the method for the measurement is acceleration aging test, and decomposition reaction equation and Berthlot Equation were used for the calculation. The result of this research shows that propellant KM30A1, ignition powder, combustible cartridge case in order of decreasing self life, and the self life decreases to 1/3 as the temperature increases by $10^{\circ}C$.

The shaped charge consists of the cast or pressed explosive and the metal liner. The pressure formed in detonation wave is so high that the liner is collapsed and the jet of high temperature, pressure and velocity is produced. The jet penetrates the target. In this paper, the simulation for optimization of flexible linear shaped charge(FLSC) was carried out by AUTODYNE program. Based on the results of simulation, we made a prototype of FLSC and evaluated penetration performance, flexibility and its application. The test result of prototype was compared with that of simulation.

A delay system in fuze for high explosive shell is an important safety device, but failure in the delay system usually causes failure of the shell. Root-cause analysis of failure in the delay system is required since failure in over 10-years stored delay system recently occurs. In this paper, failure in the delay system was reproduced experimentally to examine aged characteristics of the delay system, and the failed delay system shows the same characteristics as ones of failed delay systems in field. Based on the reproduced experiments, accelerated life testings and the data analysis of failure times of delay systems were performed to predict the storage lifetime.
