        임혜원 ( Hye-won Lim ),이윤진 ( Yoonjin Lee ),황옥화 ( Yu-hua Huang ),윤지영 ( Ji-young Yoon ),이수희 ( Su Hee Lee ),김경훈 ( Kyunghoon Kim ),임창진 ( Chang-jin Lim ) 한국미생물생명공학회 2017 한국미생물·생명공학회지 Vol.45 No.1

This study aimed to investigate the effects of probiotic fermentation by comparing the skin antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of non-fermented (ARE) and fermented (ARE-F) hot water extracts of Agastache rugosa leaves. ARE-F was obtained via ARE fermentation using Lactobacillus rhamnosus HK-9. In vitro, anti-inflammatory properties were evaluated by analyzing the levels of nitric oxide (NO), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated HaCaT keratinocytes. In vitro antiradical activity was measured using 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. Attenuation of LPS-stimulated NO (p < 0.01), ROS (p < 0.001) and iNOS (p < 0.05) levels by ARE-F was significantly stronger than that by ARE in HaCaT keratinocytes. However, no differences were observed between the DPPH radical scavenging activities of ARE and ARE-F. ARE-F possesses enhanced skin antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, suggesting that probiotic bacterial fermentation can be considered an effective tool for augmenting some pharmacological properties of A. rugosa leaves. In brief, the skin antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potentials of A. rugosa leaf extract are augmented by the fermentation with L. rhamnosus HK-9, a probiotic bacterium.

Vol.8 No.3

Financial services are changing due to the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), of which the NFT platform is drawing attention from 2030. MZ generations have less resistance to NFT transactions due to their experience in investing in virtual currency, but there is a problem that they lack understanding of the concept. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to find difficulties and problems in using the service and to help improve usability by presenting improvement plans. As a research method, hypotheses were established for those with experience and no experience in cryptocurrency for NFT marketplaces, usability evaluation criteria were designed through prior research on usability evaluation, and usability evaluation and interviews were conducted. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there was no significant correlation between the two groups on NFT usability, and problems were derived and guidelines were proposed. It is expected that the usability of NFT trading services will be supplemented in the future through guidelines for improving platform usability.

Vol.- No.8

This paper explores metaphors of `saying` in Korean. Various metaphors are created through a process of a conceptualization. Korean language users metaphorize abstract concept `saying` into a concrete entity. There are some higher level of metaphors, such as SAYING IS AN ENTITY, SAYING IS A LIVING THING, and SAYING IS AN ACTIVITY. Then these metaphors can be subclassified into a lower level metaphors. For instance, the SAYING IS AN ENTITY metaphor consists of a lower level metaphors, e.g. SAYING IS A SOLID THING, SAYING IS A FLUID, SAYING IS A MOVING THING, SAYING IS A TRAVELING OBJECT THROUGH A PATH, SAYING IS A CONTAINER, SAYING IS A CONTENT IN CONTAINER, and SAYING IS A FOOD. And the SAYING IS A LIVING THING metaphor is composed of SAYING IS A BODY, SAYING IS AN ANIMAL, and SAYING IS A PERSON. Likewise, the SAYING IS AN ACTIVITY metaphor can be subclassified into such metaphors as SAYING IS A WORK and SAYING IS WAR. These metaphors show a radial network in the semantic structure of `saying` in Korean.

        임혜원(Hye Won Lim),조남영(Nam Young Cho),윤미연(Mi Yun Yoon),차상복(Sang Bok Cha),김경원(Kyoung Won Kim),박영미(Young Mi Park),이지윤(Ji Yun Lee),이진희(Jin Hee Lee),김창종(Chang Jong Kim),심상수(Sang Soo Sim) 대한약학회 2003 약학회지 Vol.47 No.1

This study is performed to investigate the effects of citrus essential oils on melanin production in Bl6 melanoma cells. Five kinds of citrus essential oils (Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Petigrain) did not have any influence on DPPH radical scavenger activity cell growth and cytotoxicity in Bl6 melanoma cells. Both mandarin and petigrain essential oils dose-dependently inhibited purified tyrosinase activity, but bergamot did not. In 1μM MSH-stimulated Bl6 melanoma cells, all of 5 citrus essential oils inhibited melanin production in a dose dependent manner. From the above results, it is possible that citrus essential oils may be development to be an anti-melanogenesis agent on the basis of their inhibitory effect on MSH-induced melanin production.

Vol.- No.330

The purpose of this study was to analyze the metaphorical expression about crises to examine how Korean speakers perceive the concept of crisis. The first way to conceptualize crises is to substantiate them in cognitive space as something that can be touched and moved. This conceptualization uses an ontological metaphor, which is a method of objectifying crises as objects or organisms, such as people or animals. Crises can also be conceptualized as places or obstacles in an event structure metaphor of [changes as movements]. This study found that Korean speakers understand the concept of crisis in terms of various things, such as fire, strong waves, organisms, corners, cliffs, bogs, bad weather, disease, and explosion, all of which have a great impact on people’s lives, are dangerous, and therefore are things that people fear. This study’s results show how Korean speakers understand crises and how they understand and express crisis concepts.

Vol.10 No.1

This paper explores the uses of the vertical spatialization metaphors in Korean based on a colloquial corpus. There are various kinds of metaphors in Korean vertical spatialization metaphors, for examples, MORE IS UP; LESS IS DOWN, HAVING FORCE IS UP; BEING SUBJECT TO FORCE IS DOWN, ACT1VI1Y IS UP; INACTIVITY IS DOWN, CENTER IS UP; PERIPHERY IS DOWN, and HOT IS UP; COLD IS DOWN. Each metaphor has its own internal systemacity and coherence. Also, Korean vertical spatialization metaphors have systemacity and coherence among its subclasses extending from MORE IS UP; LESS IS DOWN metaphor. In this research, we can identify general cognitive processes by which language users understand abstract concepts in terms of concrete concepts. Also, we can find that Korean vertical spatialization metaphors are based on physical experiences of Korean language users.

Vol.- No.10

This paper explores the uses of the movement metaphors in Korean based on a colloquial corpus. Linguistic forms in general reflect cognitive processes of language users in terms of their conceptualization of the events or states. Thus Korean movement metaphors show Korean language users` cognitive processes to understand events or actions. Korean movement metaphors are based on more general substance metaphor, whereby people understand abstract objects like events or actions in terms of concrete objects. Also Korean movement metaphors are based on such space conceptualization as to understand non-spatial concepts through spatial concepts. From an analysis on a quantitative approach, the uses of movement metaphors by Korean speakers reveal the following characteristics. Firstly, Korean language users could cognize events or actions as involving subject-moving or object-moving according to such factors as appearances, temporal process, and interactions with co-participants, etc. Secondly, movement metaphors can appear in parallel movement and vertical movement according to positive/negative and qualitative evaluations of the language users with regard to the events or actions concerned. Thirdly, movement metaphor can also appear as movement either out of or into a container. These characteristics are based on physical and psychological experiences of Korean language user. We can identify general cognitive processes by which language users understand abstract concepts as concrete concepts as shown above. To study movement metaphors by means of colloquial corpus is important in both studying metaphors used in natural settings and capturing language user`s cognitive processes in a non-biased way.
