        A Study on Strategic City Brand Policy: Based on the comparative analysis of city brand slogans in Seoul and overseas case studies

        모든 도시들은 글로벌 무대에서 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해서 도시 브랜딩을 전략적으로 구축해왔다. 서울시는 2003년부터 정책 차원에서 도시 브랜드를 출범시켜서 현재까지 도시 브랜딩을 활용하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 이 연구는 그러한 노력에 대한 미래 방향을 제시하기 위해서 서울의 도시 브랜드의 변화를 탐구한다. 이 연구는 도시 마케팅 도시 브랜딩 그리고 도시 브랜드 슬로건과 관련된 이전의 연구에서 고려된 다양한 이론과 국내외 사례 연구에 기초한다. 관련 데이터를 수집하고 분석한 결과, 불확실한 도시 브랜드는 이해 관계자 간의 전략적인 거버넌스와 시민적 합의가 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다. All cities have constructed city branding strategically to intensify their competitiveness in global arena. Seoul Metropolitan has launched city brand in policy-level since 2003 and they have struggled to utilize city branding until now. This study explores the changes in Seoul's city brand in order to suggest a future direction for such efforts. The research is grounded in various domestic and foreign theories and case studies are considered from previous studies related to the place marketing, city marketing, and city branding. Relevant data were collected and analyzed, indicating that an unsure city brand requires strategic governance among stakeholders and civic consensus.

        힘 영상도식의 신체화 연구

        The current study examines how the force schema is related to the form of action language from the point of view of cognitive linguistics. Starting from the hypothesis that conceptual structures such as image schema or metaphor are revealed in the subconscious action language, which is simultaneously realized at the point of utterance, this study investigates how the force schema, one of the image schemata, is reflected in hand gestures. Force is an essential element in interaction with the surroundings for human beings living as organisms. The structure of force conceptually plays a central role in understanding human experience as it is combined with force-based activities. Johnson(1987) calls the image schemata including the force schema experiential gestalt, meaning it is an integrated whole structure within our experience, and categorizes it into the structure of force COMPULSION, BLOCKAGE, COUNTERFORCE, DIVERSION, and REMOVAL OF RESTRAINT. As such an image schema is structured based on experience, hand gestures we make while talking naturally reflect the image schemata.

        한국어 대화에 나타난 수직공간개념화 은유

        This paper explores the uses of the vertical spatialization metaphors in Korean based on a colloquial corpus. There are various kinds of metaphors in Korean vertical spatialization metaphors, for examples, MORE IS UP; LESS IS DOWN, HAVING FORCE IS UP; BEING SUBJECT TO FORCE IS DOWN, ACT1VI1Y IS UP; INACTIVITY IS DOWN, CENTER IS UP; PERIPHERY IS DOWN, and HOT IS UP; COLD IS DOWN. Each metaphor has its own internal systemacity and coherence. Also, Korean vertical spatialization metaphors have systemacity and coherence among its subclasses extending from MORE IS UP; LESS IS DOWN metaphor. In this research, we can identify general cognitive processes by which language users understand abstract concepts in terms of concrete concepts. Also, we can find that Korean vertical spatialization metaphors are based on physical experiences of Korean language users.

        한국어 연극 은유

        This paper explores the metaphorical conceptualization through the concept of THEATER to reveal how Korean language users organize their conceptual structure with their perception and experience. The theater metaphor is a structural metaphor and it exist in our cognitive space. The theater metaphor shows us the cognitive process of the mapping from the visual field to the STAGE. Like the example LIFE IS A THEATER, we can understand the events in the reality in terms of a THEATER where a series of events is going on in the stage. We regard the scene of the event as the ACTOR'S ACTING in the THEATER based on a DRAMA/SCENARIO. This research validates cognitive processes by which language users conceptualize their physical experience and build the conceptual structure. Also, the theater metaphor is of experiential basis, because it is motivated by language users’ experiences and knowledge about the theater.

        한국어 대화자료에 나타난 이동은유

        This paper explores the uses of the movement metaphors in Korean based on a colloquial corpus. Linguistic forms in general reflect cognitive processes of language users in terms of their conceptualization of the events or states. Thus Korean movement metaphors show Korean language users` cognitive processes to understand events or actions. Korean movement metaphors are based on more general substance metaphor, whereby people understand abstract objects like events or actions in terms of concrete objects. Also Korean movement metaphors are based on such space conceptualization as to understand non-spatial concepts through spatial concepts. From an analysis on a quantitative approach, the uses of movement metaphors by Korean speakers reveal the following characteristics. Firstly, Korean language users could cognize events or actions as involving subject-moving or object-moving according to such factors as appearances, temporal process, and interactions with co-participants, etc. Secondly, movement metaphors can appear in parallel movement and vertical movement according to positive/negative and qualitative evaluations of the language users with regard to the events or actions concerned. Thirdly, movement metaphor can also appear as movement either out of or into a container. These characteristics are based on physical and psychological experiences of Korean language user. We can identify general cognitive processes by which language users understand abstract concepts as concrete concepts as shown above. To study movement metaphors by means of colloquial corpus is important in both studying metaphors used in natural settings and capturing language user`s cognitive processes in a non-biased way.

        국어 사물 개념의 은유적 확장 연구 -대화 말뭉치를 바탕으로-

        In a cognitive linguistic approach, metaphor is to understand one thing in terms of another. For example, we metaphorically understand some abstract concepts as some objects existing in physical world. Such metaphorical understanding is reflected in language. This paper explores metaphorical extensions of THING concepts in Korean using corpus data to reveal how Korean language users understand and use the concepts of THING. More specifically, we examine how abstract concepts are metaphorically understood in terms of THING concepts. Since things are essential in our daily life, various thing concepts constitute source domain concepts for a large number of abstract target domain concepts. THING concepts are built upon our physical experiences and the knowledge about the things enables us to understand other abstract concepts metaphorically. In order to find metaphors that are based on THING concepts and that are frequently used, we examined relevant metaphorical expressions attested in spoken Korean corpus. We can find the metaphorical conceptualization of THING in terms of QUANTITY, WEIGHT, TEMPERATURE, BRIGHTNESS, DENSITY OF THE THING based on the attributes of THING such as touching and handling the objects. Also we can find the metaphorical extension of SOLID, a state of things, in terms of SIZE, SHAPE, FEELS OF THE THING based on the attributes of THING such as grasping and manipulating the objects. Finally we can find the metaphorical extension of LIQUID, because of the nature of the liquid such as fluidity. This research validates cognitive processes by which language users understand abstract concepts in terms of concrete concepts. Also, those thing metaphors are of experiential basis, for they are motivated by physical experiences of Korean language users.

        일반유치원교사의 긍정적 행동지원(PBS)에 대한 인식 및 요구 조사

        본 연구는 일반유치원에서의 긍정적 행동지원의 효과적인 실행방안을 모색해 보기 위하여 서울과 경기지역의 일반유치원에 재직 중인 교사 177명을 대상으로 설문지를 이용하여 조사연구를 실시하였다. 분석프로그램은 SPSS 22.0 통계 프로그램을 사용하였으며 자료 분석은 빈도, 백분율을 통하여 산출하였고 대상자의 배경정보 범주에 따라 t-검정, 카이검증분석, 일원 분산분석(One-way ANOVA) 및 Scheffé 사후분석을 이용하여 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일반유치원 교사의 긍정적 행동지원에 대한 인식을 조사한 결과 긍정적 행동지원에 대한 명칭 및 요소, 중재과정 등의 인식은 낮은 편이나 상대적으로 중재방법에 대하여는 높은 인식을 갖고 있었다. 둘째, 일반유치원교사의 긍정적 행동지원 실행을 위한 지원요구에 대한 조사결과, 가장 필요로 하는 지원은 ‘긍정적 행동지원에 대한 교사 연수’가 65.3%로 가장 높게 나타났고. 긍정적 행동지원 실행을 위한 팀 구성원은 ‘유아의 가족’이 가장 높게 나타났다. 교사연수에서 가장 필요한 내용으로는 ‘중다요소 중재방법을 실행하는 방법’이 가장 높게 나타났으며 행정 및 재정적인 지원에서 우선되어야 할 것은 ‘학급 인원 수 감축’이 가장 높게 나타났다. 본 연구는 앞으로 통합학급을 담당해야하는 일반유치원 교사의 긍정적 행동지원의 인식을 알아보고 긍정적 행동지원 실행을 위한 지원요구를 조사하여 일반유치원에서의 효과적인 실행 방안을 모색해 보는데 의의가 있다. This study was conducted by surveying 177 general kindergarten teachers in Seoul and Kyoung-gi province using questionnaires, to seek effective action plans for Positive Behavior Support at General Kindergartens. SPSS 22.0 statistics program was used as a analysis program, and frequency and percentage was calculated. The data was verified by t-test, chi-square test, One-way ANOVA and Scheffét PostHoc, according to the categories of subject’s background information. The results of this research summary are as follows. First, as a result of investigation about teachers’ understanding of Positive Behavior Support, the teachers’ perception of the term, element, and intervention process was low, on the other hand, they relatively had high level of awareness of intervention process. Second, 65.3% of the survey picked “teacher training for Positive Behavior Support" as the most wanted support needs for practice of Positive Behavior Support, according to the research. It showed that the highest team member for Positive Behavior Support was ‘child’s family’. The most necessary element in teacher training was the operation process of arbitrating multiple factors and the top priority in financial and administrative support is ‘reduction in class size’. This study has significance in searching for effective action plans for Positive Behavior Support at General Kindergarten, through finding out the recognition about Positive Behavior Support of the teachers who take the inclusion class with special needs in the future and also examining the support needs for practice of Positive Behavior Support.

        Bl6 Melanoma세포에서 Citrus Essential Oil이 Melanin 생성에 미치는 영향

        This study is performed to investigate the effects of citrus essential oils on melanin production in Bl6 melanoma cells. Five kinds of citrus essential oils (Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Petigrain) did not have any influence on DPPH radical scavenger activity cell growth and cytotoxicity in Bl6 melanoma cells. Both mandarin and petigrain essential oils dose-dependently inhibited purified tyrosinase activity, but bergamot did not. In 1μM MSH-stimulated Bl6 melanoma cells, all of 5 citrus essential oils inhibited melanin production in a dose dependent manner. From the above results, it is possible that citrus essential oils may be development to be an anti-melanogenesis agent on the basis of their inhibitory effect on MSH-induced melanin production.
