This study examined the in-suit adaptability of geosynthetics as geocomposites, which can retard reflective cracks, to absorb stress from damaged roads. From the experimental results, for ultraviolet resistance, the retention of tensile properties was 80%. In addition, the geosynthetics of this study were found to be sufficiently stable for use as an asphalt overlay. The geocomposites as a hydraulic barrier showed 42~47% asphalt retention. The test of the crack growth rate and service life revealed the paved road to have twice the service life of a non-reinforced paved road.

폐 우레탄 폼을 재이용한 PUF (new/recycled)의 제조에서 폐폼의 크기, 형태 및 함량에 따른 영향을 고찰하였다. 경질 샌드위치 패널의 생산 공정에서 발생한 스크랩을 powder와 cube, bar형태로 가공하여 신재폼과 동일한 처방으로 몰딩하였다. 제조된 PUF (new/recycled)의 기계적, 물리적 특성들은 굽힘강도, 연소성, 흡수성에 대한 시험과 측정을 통해 고찰했으며, 경계면(new/recycled)에서 형성된 cell의 미세 구조는 주사 전자 현미경(SEM)을 이용하여 관찰하였다. Powder형 폐폼으로 제조된 PUF (new/recycled)는 슬러리(폐폼/원료용액)의 점성에 의한 원료용액의 반응성 저하와 폐폼에 의해 유입된 air의 영향으로 미충진과 특성 저하가 발생하였다. 한편 cube와 bar형의 경우는 폐폼간의 간섭과 폐폼에 대한 원료용액의 접촉면적 증가로 미충진 현상이 발생하였고, 경계면(new/recycled)에서 성장한 cell의 낮은 밀집도, 불균일한 형태 및 크기, 그리고 원료용액의 접착력 저하로 인하여 특성저하가 발생하였다. 폼(new)의 충진성과 PUF (new/recycled)의 특성을 고려할 때 폐폼의 최대 재활용 함량은 powder의 경우 20 wt% 미만이었으며, cube와 bar형은 40 wt% 이상이었다. Phthalate esters are additives which give wide usage as soft products due to the fact that these endow a softness and a better process to PVC products. However. active researches about their toxicity toward a human body have been carried out in many advanced countries including the United States and England, since the phthalate esters have been reported as carcinogens to give the functional disorder and genetic malformation of tissues in liver and kidney. Specially, in case of toys for children less than 3 years old, when they are playing with the toys while chewing or sucking, seriously harmful problem may occur by the phthalate esters` inducing directly into a human body through a mouth. Nevertheless, since there is no standard method to evaluate and detect these phthalate esters it has been quite difficult to make a comparison between the results and standards. In this study, we have analysed qualitatively and quantitatively for 55 items of plastic products including infants` toys varying solvents and times for extraction to establish the best analytical method of phthalate esters from PVC materials.
대차 동특성 주행시험기를 이용하여 횡방향 궤도틀림을 추정하는 방법에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 대차 동특성 주행시험기에서 가속도계를 이용하여 모사한 횡방향 궤도틀림을 추정하는 방법에 관하여 다루었다. 대차 동특성 주행시험기는 궤도에 해당하는 궤조륜 시스템과 궤도 틀림을 모사하기 위한 유압 가진 시스템 등으로 구성되어 있어 실제 열차가 궤도를 주행하는 것과 동일한 조건을 구현할 수 있다. 여기에서는 이 시험기로 횡방향 궤도틀림을 모사하고 축상 및 대차에서 측정한 횡방향 가속도에 이전 연구에서 개발한 궤도틀림 추정방법의 적용하여 그 결과를 비교하였다. 이를 통해 알고 있는 횡방향궤도틀림에 의해 발생하는 축상 및 대차 가속도에 개발한 추정방법 적용의 타당성을 알아보고자 한다. This paper is focused on the estimation of lateral track irregularity using a full-scale roller rig with accelerometers. The full-scale roller rig consists of two rollers and hydraulic excitation system, and it can excite the bogie in lateral and vertical direction to represent the track irregularity. In this work, the roller rig is excited a bogie, and lateral accelerometers on axle-box and bogie measure its acceleration. The lateral track irregularity is estimated by using the previously developed estimation method, and it is compared with the excited lateral displacement of a roller which represents track irregularity. Finally, applicability of the developed method is discussed.

This paper is focused on development of models for measuring lateral and vertical track irregularities from corresponding accelerometers of an in-service high-speed train. Generally the track irregularity was measured by a special railway inspection vehicle or system with contact or non-contact sensors. However the sensors are very expensive and vulnerable to a harsh environment. Displacement estimation from an inertial measurement unit and its wave-band filtering was already developed in the previous study and it was found that their results included not only the track irregularities but also other information such as phase delay of the applied filters and suspension and conicity of the wheel. To identify the track irregularities from those results a compensation filtering method was proposed. Each directional compensation filter was derived by using a system identification method with the estimated directional displacement as input and the corresponding track irregularities as output. In this paper they are integrated into a model for each direction and applied to the measured lateral and vertical acceleration data from the axle-box and bogie of an in-service high-speed train. Their results are compared with the data from the track geometry measurement system. From the comparison the proposed models are a useful tool for the measurement of the track irregularities using accelerometers of in-service high-speed trains.

Morbidity and mortality are higher in diabetics undergoing surgery, which most often reflect various cardiovascular complications. Ketoacidosis is the most serious acute metabolic complications of diabetes perioperatively. Ketoacidosis has adverse effects such as decreased myocardial contractility and peripheral vascular tone, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. We encountered a case of a 47 year-old man who presented with ketoacidosis and severe hypotension 15 minutes after being administered epidural anesthesia for femoro-popliteal arterial bypass surgery. This case highlights the need for anesthesiologists to consider the possibility that ketoacidosis can mimic severe hypotension due to epidural anesthesia or cardiogenic shock.
