The reaction mechanism of methane dry reforming has been investigated using an arc-jet reactor. The effects of input power, CO₂ /CH₄ and added O₂ were investigated by product analysis, including CO, H₂, C₂HY and C₃HY as well as CH₄ and CO₂. In the process, input electrical power activated the reactions between CH₄ and CO₂ significantly. The increased feed ratio of the CO₂ to CH₄ in the dry reforming doesn't affect to the CH₄ conversion but increase the selectivity of CO with suppressing the reaction of H₂ generation. Added oxygen can also increase not only CO selectivity but also CH₄ conversion, For more understanding these results. the reaction has been compared with thermo-equilibrium calculation.

The two-stage electrostatic air cleaner is a particle control device that uses electrical forces to move particles in the flowing gas stream onto collector plates. Despite a general understanding of electrostatic air cleaner operation and their successful use in industry, many questions regarding flow, electric fields and particle collection have remained unanswered. In this paper, an experimental investigation for designing the discharge electrode, including ionizer wire diameter, plate length and wire-to-plate spacing, is carried out. The electrical conditions, namely the electric field intensity, the space current and the particle charge intensity, in wire-plate electrostatic air cleaner are reported and examined.

Durability of the excavator swing motor and reduction gear can be evaluated by numerical simulation or bench test. In case of numerical simulation using finite element model for example, it is not easy to take the swing inertia into account for simulation. Bench test, even though it is free from the difficulties in numerical modeling, should be carefully designed on the basis of actual field loadings for accurate and practically meaningful durability assessment. In this study, an accelerated durability test condition has been derived for excavator swing motor and reduction gear considering its actual operating conditions in field. To do this, specially designed measuring instruments are developed and then equipped at the swing device installed on an excavator. Torques and operating speeds collected from the measuring instruments contributed as fundamental data to the test design. The accelerated test condition designed herein is expected to give more practical criterion for durability assessment of the swing device.

In materials with the large grain size, ultrasonic waves are highly attenuated by the grain boundary acting as scattering centers due to discontinuity of elastic constant. In this study, the improved probes were developed so that they minimized the effect of grain scattering in order to detect deep flaws in coarse grained materials. As the result, the developed ultrasonic transducers showed the better sensitivity and signal to noise ratio when compared with the commercial probes in testing the interior of coarse grained material.
