The thermally activated building system(TABS) is a thermal storage that uses the concrete slab to reduce the peak cooling load. A typical design method of cooling system considers a peak load in a steady state. However, the design of the TABS should consider the time-lag effect due to the high heat capacity of the concrete slab in an un-steady state. Therefore, this paper analyzed the performance of the TABS by examining the energy consumption and saving for different operation period and supply water temperature without over-cooling and condensation.
주외막단백 유전자 분석을 이용한 Brucella abortus의 동정

목적: 브루셀라증은 다양한 임상경과와 비특이적인 증상 및 까다로운 배양 조건 등으로 인하여 진단이 쉽지 않다. 최근 국내에서 발생한 발열 환자의 혈액 배양검사로부터 균주를 분리한 후 유전자 염기서열분석으로 Brucella abortus를 확인하였기에 이를 소개하고자 하였다. 방법: 발열 환자의 혈액배양검사로부터 분리된 미상의 균주로부터 DNA를 추출한 후 16S rRNA에 대한 연쇄중합반응을 시행하였고, 증폭된 결과물을 BLAST search를 통하여 GenBank의 데이터베이스의 염기서열과 비교한 결과 Brucella종임을 확인하였다. 동일한 방법으로 omp2a와 omp2b 유전자에 대한 연쇄중합반응을 시행하여 이를 GenBank의 데이터베이스와 비교하였다. 결과: 16S rRNA 염기서열을 비교하여 세 균주 모두 99.9% 이상의 유사도로 Brucella에 속하는 종임을 확인하였고, omp2a와 omp2b 유전자 염기서열을 비교한 결과 99.91% 이상의 유사도로 세 균주 모두 Brucella abortus임을 확인하였다. 결론: 유전자 염기서열분석은 비교적 짧은 시간 내에 정확한 균종의 확인이 가능하다는 이점이 있어서 생물형 분석으로 동정되지 않는 드문 균주의 동정에 매우 유용한 방법으로 생각된다. Background: As the incidence of bovine brucellosis increases in Korea, the incidence of human brucellosis is also increasing since 2002. However, it is difficult to identify Brucella species by using the conventional methods. Methods: Three strains of gram-negative coccobacilli were isolated from blood specimens of three patients with prolonged fever, which were not identified by using the conventional methods. After extracting total DNA from these isolates, PCR amplification of 16S rRNA and omp2 genes was performed. These sequences secured by PCR assay were compared with known sequences by using GenBank BLAST. Results: DNA sequences were obtained from 3 isolates by using PCR amplification of 16S rRNA. These sequences had more than 99.9% similarities with Brucella species by using GenBank BLAST. In the second place, after comparing DNA sequences secured by PCR amplification of omp2a and omp2b by using GenBank BLAST, these isolates were confirmed as B. abortus. Conclusions: DNA sequence analysis is a rapid and accurate method for identification of uncommon microorganisms, such as Brucella species.(Korean J Med 71:10-16, 2006)

The objective of this study was to investigate the quality and sensory characteristics of yanggaeng prepared with different amounts of ginseng paste. Ginseng paste was incorporated with yanggaeng at a range of different levels of 5~15% based on the total weight of water. The pH and total acidity of yanggaeng were 6.35~6.49% and 0.03~0.07%, respectively. The sugar content of yanggaeng in the control was 25.0 °Brix and showed proportional increases up to 25.0~29.7 °Brix with increasing levels of ginseng paste. In terms of the texture profile analysis, the hardness and adhesiveness of yanggaeng decreased but the cohesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness increased compared to the control and ginseng paste added treatments. In color value determination, the L* and a* values decreased but the b* value increased with increasing levels of ginseng paste. The sensory evaluation indicated that the yanggaeng contained up to 15% ginseng paste and showed similar flavor, taste, texture, and overall acceptance in the control. These results suggest that ginseng paste is an ingredient that can enhance the quality and sensory potential of yanggaeng.

Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis is a rare disease characterized by the presence of retroperitoneal fibroinflammatory tissue, which often surrounds the abdominal aorta, the ureters, or other abdominal organs. There have been sporadic reports of an association with autoimmune diseases, although the pathogenesis of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis is unclear. However, there are very few reports ofidiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis associated with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. We report a case with idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis associated with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, and anti-myeloperoxidase antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (anti MPO-ANCA), that was improved by the combination therapy of steroids and cyclophosphamide.

In this study, a standard housing model was defined by collecting various national statistical data based on the actual housing type and occupancy status and selecting values representing each item. The conditions for determining the standard housing model were classified into building use, type, area, structure, equipment, and indoor environment, and then detailed items were constructed with values being referenced from national and international standards and research results. In addition, to secure the reliability of the defined standard housing model, energy simulation was performed based on the set value for each item. Annual heating and cooling costs were calculated based on results and then compared with the national statistical data for typical apartments.

MAC NTM 폐질환을 일으키는 가장 흔한 원인균으로 만성폐쇄성폐질환 등 만성 호흡기질환을 가진 환자, 혹은 고령의 여성에서 많이 발생한다. 증상이 서서히 진행하는 경과와 함께 방사선학적으로는 상엽에 공동을 보이거나 기관지확장증에 동반된 다발성 결절이 특징적이다. 저자들은 만성폐쇄성폐질환의 기왕력이 있는 환자에서 급성 폐렴으로 발현한 M. intracellulare 폐질환 증례를 경험하여 이를 보고하는 바이다. The Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC) is the most common pathogen in pulmonary disease Caused by a nontuberculous mycobacteria. Patients with MAC pulmonary disease tend to be older, are more likely to have underlying lung disease than tuberculosis patients. The insidious nature of MAC pulmonary disease has been emphasized in many reports because symptoms may be present for months or years before a diagnosis can be made. Most patients experience chronic coughing, which is usually productive of purulent sputum. A MAC pulmonary infection is rarely accompanied by acute respiratory symptoms and lobar pneumonic consolidation on chest radiography. We report a very rare case of M. intracellulare pulmonary disease Presenting as acute pneumonia. (Korean J Med 71:678-682, 2006)
