The light is one of the most important factors in architecture. It creates the depth of space and shadow. It enables people to perceive the space. Therefore, it enables to experience architectural form and space. Many architects had suggested various methods to create better indoor environment in architecture with the natural light. This paper tried to examine the works of Alvar Aalto and to analyze how to control the light in his works and design processes. It will help to know how Alvar Aalto created different characteristics to spaces by the light. According to this study, various shapes of toplight systems were used as the major design elements for the control of natural light.
Many countries have carried out various policies about sustainable building to protect the earth against the global warming and environmental pollution. Korea government has also executed the Green Building Certification Criteria(GBCC). In order to keep the performances of certificated buildings sustainable, the effective building maintenance is quite necessary. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to find direction for the improvement of management categories of Korea Green Building Certification Criteria. For this aim, GBCC was compared with the foreign certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM and CASBEE.
As the recognition of the society about an eco-friendly system gradually become growing, the green building certification has been started from 2006 and an improvement of applying the standard of certification has been pointed out constantly. Comparing with the revised standard of July 2010, the reliability of the certification is raised and an appraisal standard of the field of the energy is tightened. The acquired average score in the energy field concerning the appraisal article analysis of a reference school become low relatively. But the acquired score of the EPI has large difference between the appraisal articles. Therefore, research on decreasing of these differences should continue.
This study evaluated the actual building's energy sector through CASBEE of Japan and green building certification systems of Korea compare advantages and disadvantages of certification and national green building certification system devised for the improvement. The energy efficiency sector of green building certification system was get 9.6 points. And the result evaluating of CASBEE, 1 point in the building's heat load suppression in Division, 3 points in the natural energy sector, efficiency of equipment in categories a total of 4.6 points was get 8.6 points. In the future, quantitative than qualitative assessment through the evaluation of the entire life cycle of buildings to reduce the environmental impact is determined that you need to leave.
Recently, Environment-friendly building materials have been developed actively by building material companies. This research aims to present the basic data to develop environment-friendly building materials through the investigation and analysis on the emitted pollutants from building finishing materials. The emission factor of HCHO and VOC's was investigated on the environment-friendly 182 adhesives, 113 paints, 46 wooden flooring boards, and 33 wallpapers used in Korea. The results of the investigation indicate that Toluene, m,p-xylene, Ethylbenzene, o-Xylene, benzene, styrene which are specified as toxic VOC's showed high emission rate and Toluene is major pollutant emitted from most building finishing materials. The results of this research will be used as basic data when we develop environment-friendly building materials.
Environmental conferences in international society have held on Rio de Janeiro from UNCED in 1992 upward (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development) for countermeasure of environmental matters. Developed countries like United States, Japan, Canada and British are to take effect building promotion certification criteria what is certification system of environment for promotion in aspects of Green buildings. Purposes of this study are research in standards and status of certification systems which are LEED in USGBC since 1993 in United States, GBCC of KGBC in state-run organization since 2002 and 'Environmental-friendly Building Guidelines' of Seoul to be recently driven. And then, offer proposals of promotion aims for revitalization in GBCC.
