This paper presents driving path estimation algorithm for adaptive cruise control system and advanced emergency braking system using multi-sensor fusion. Through data collection, yaw rate filtering based road curvature and vision sensor road curvature characteristics are analyzed. Yaw rate filtering based road curvature and vision sensor road curvature are fused into the one curvature by weighting factor which are considering characteristics of each curvature data. The proposed driving path estimation algorithm has been investigated via simulation performed on a vehicle package Carsim and Matlab/Simulink. It has been shown via simulation that the proposed driving path estimation algorithm improves primary target detection rate.

In this paper, the waveguide slot array antenna which is capable of wide beam steering and dual polarization is designed for an X band synthetic aperture radar. In order to improve the restriction of beam steering range and to remove the butterfly lobes, a typical waveguide slot array antenna has been modified. To implement dual polarization, rod excited waveguide slot elements and ridge waveguide slot elements are alternately arranged. Location of slots, inclination of rod and offset distance of slots are determined on using array characteristic and conductance constant with radiating power on slots. The designed antenna is manufactured and measured with Near-filed measurement method.
Particle concentration sensor using control volume between double electrical sensing zones

We present a novel ow-rate independent cell concentration sensor using a xed control volume between double electrical sensingter Counter [M. Koch, A.G.R. Evans, A. Brunnschweiler, Design and fabrication of a micromachined coulter counter, J. Micromech.Microeng. 9 (1999) 159161] requiring an accurate uid volume measurement or precision ow-rate control, the present cell concentra-tion sensor oers the ow-rate independent method for the cell concentration measurement with counting cells in a xed control volumeof 0.423l l. In the experimental study, we have used the RBC samples of three dierent concentrations and compared the results obtainedmeasurements: (1) with single electrical sensing at a xed ow-rate of 1.2l l/min; (2) with double electrical sensing with a known controlvolume of 0.423 ± 0.01l l. Compared to Hemacytometer, the single and double sensing methods show the maximum concentrationerrors of 8.7% and 10.3%, which are in the measurement error range of Hemacytometer. We also measure the cell concentration withinthe maximum concentration errors of 10.3% in two cases: (1) two dierent ow-rates of 5 and 0.5l 2to1l l/min, respectively. Therefore, we verify the ow-rate independent measurement capability of the present device. Finally, we con-clude that the present sensor can measure cell concentration without the accurate control and measurement of ow-rate.
능동형 SAR 시스템의 송수신 모듈 출력 보정 방법 연구

본 논문에서는 기 개발된 능동형 SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) 안테나의 송수신 모듈 출력에서 발생하는 이득과 위상 오차를 보정하는 방법에 대해 소개한다. 먼저 오차에 대해 정의하고, 시범 측정을 통해 획득한 측정값을 바탕으로 오차의 특성을 분석한 뒤, 이를 보상하기 위한 송수신 모듈의 제어 방법을 제안하였다. 16조의 송수신 모듈로 구성된 안테나에서 보정 전 이득은 28.2~29.0 ㏈m, 위상은 101.7°~165.2°의 분포를 보였으나, 보정후 이득은 27.4~28.0 ㏈m, 위상은 116.1°~120.0°의 분포를 나타내었다. 이러한 송수신 모듈의 출력 분포를 바탕으로 배열 이론을 적용하여 안테나 빔 패턴을 생성하고 비교함으로써 제안한 보정 방법이 능동형 SAR 시스템의 성능 만족에 효과적임을 검증하였다. In this paper, a compensation method of the amplitude and phase errors from the T/R(Transmit/Receive) modules in an active SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) system is introduced. The errors are defined and classified, and characterized by analyzing the measurement data acquired from the pilot test. To compensate these errors, a control methodology of T/R modules output is proposed. Before the compensation is applied, 16 T/R modules integrated on the active SAR antenna show the amplitude in 28.2~29.0 ㏈m and the phase in 101.7°~165.2°. After the compensation, the amplitude and phase are distributed in 27.4~28.0 ㏈m and 116.1°~120.0° respectively. The antenna beam patterns generated by the array theory with the distributions are compared, and the proposed method is verified as good to apply for the active SAR system.

This paper presents advanced primary target detection method considering radar sensor gaussian noise property. For consideration of radar sensor gaussian noise, the in-path probability computation using gaussian random distribution is applied to the advanced target detection method. The gaussian random noise distribution can be approximated to triangle distribution for computation advantage. The proposed target detection method has been investigated via simulation performed on a vehicle simulation package CarSim and Matlab/Simulink. It has been shown via simulation that the proposed advanced primary target detection method improves primary target detection rate.

This paper presents an integrated driving path estimation algorithm for adaptive cruise control system and advanced emergency braking system using multi-sensor fusion. This algorithm is developed to predict the ego-vehicle’s path accurately and to improve the performance of primary target detection using the predicted path of the ego-vehicle. The path prediction consists of two prediction process; vehicle states based prediction and vision data based prediction. For application to dynamic maneuvering situations, the driving mode index which allows a detection of the driver maneuver intention is proposed. In accordance with the driving mode, the two types of driving path information are integrated finally. The proposed driving path estimation algorithm has been investigated via closed-loop simulation. It has been shown that the proposed driving path estimation algorithm enhance the capabilities of adaptive cruise control and advanced emergency braking system functions by providing the ego-vehicle’s path accurately, especially in dynamic maneuvering situation.

This paper presents a development of evaluation-basis for safety assessment of advanced cruise control system and safety evaluation from field test. Sensor performance, decision performance and control performance are derived as a evaluation-basis for safety assessment of advanced cruise control system. And fourteen test scenarios are developed for safety evaluation. The evaluation-basis are provided to each scenario. On the other hand, field car test were carried out about different cars, based on the developed test scenarios. Finally, from the test result, safety of advanced cruise control systems was evaluated, based on the developed evaluation-basis.
