Long-term follow-up of Fanconi anemia: clinical manifestation and treatment outcome

Purpose: The aim of this study was to characterize Korean patients with Fanconi anemia (FA), which isa rare but very challenging genetic disease. Methods: The medical records of 12 FA patients diagnosed at Chonnam National University Hospitalfrom 1991 to 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Results: The median age at diagnosis was 6.2 years. All patients showed evidence of marrow failureand one or more physical stigmata. Chromosome breakage tests were positive in 9 out of 11 availablepatients. The median follow-up duration was 69.5 months. The Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival of all patientswas 83.3% at 10 years and 34.7% at 20 years, respectively. Seven patients underwent 9 stem celltransplantations (SCTs). Among them, 5 were alive by the end of the study. Ten-year KM survival afterSCT was 71.4% with a median follow-up of 3.4 years. All 5 patients treated with supportive treatmentalone died of infection or progression at the median age of 13.5 years, except for one with short followupduration. Acute leukemia developed in 2 patients at 15.4 and 18.1 years of age. Among 6 patientswho are still alive, 3 had short stature and 1 developed insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: We provide information on the long-term outcomes of FA patients in Korea. A nation-wideFA registry that includes information of the genotypes of Korean patients is required to further characterizeethnic differences and provide the best standard of care for FA patients.

It is natural that large scale enterprises and equalization of production techniques lead to the homoqenization of product. After homoqenilization of conduct, the image of an enterprise plays a more important role than the product itself in relation to the consumer's buting of product. It is necessary that an enterprise image to gain social confidence, because a foundation of enterprise image has a great influence on social communication. The enterprise image is achieved by communication activities. Enterprise advertising and the introduction of C.I. (Corporate Identity) is newly recognized as effective communication. Enterprise advertising is no based on the simple idea of showing the enterprise's activities, but on the enterprises creative philosophy toward society. The object of C.I. introduction is to create a foundation of a united enterprise image and a more lasting administration and control. Design corrdination is a very important key to the foundation of the enterprise image. Namely, the unification of design activity of the inner enterprise on the level of administrative policy. An enterprise image established by C.I. has great influence on the consumer's confidence about the enterprise and the resultant buying of the product. So, the introduction of C.I. has important meaning. Even though enterprise advertising is produced and an excellent C.I. is introduced, it cannot exist without long-term planning and scientific administration and control. The reason many enterprises advertise and introduce C.I. competitively is that they rerecognize that the right foundation of enterprise image is the best way to succeed.

It is uncommon for pediatric patients with rhabdomyosarcoma to present with clinical and/or laboratory features of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). We report a case of metastatic alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma with severe bleeding because of DIC in a 13-year- old boy. He experienced persistent oozing at the site of a previous operation, gross hematuria, and massive epistaxis. Two weeks after initiating combination chemotherapy consisting of vincristine, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide, the patients’ laboratory indications of DIC began to resolve. During this period, the patient received massive blood transfusion of a total of 311 units (26 units of red blood cells, 26 units of fresh frozen plasma, 74 units of platelet concentrates, 17 units of single donor platelets, and 168 units of cryoprecipitate), antithrombin- III and a synthetic protease inhibitor. Despite chemotherapy and radiation therapy, he died 1 year later because of disease progression. In children with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma and massive DIC, prompt chemotherapy and aggressive supportive care is important to decrease malignancy-triggered procoagulant activities.
선박용 디젤엔진의 미세먼지저감 장치에 다공판과 믹서의 장착이 미치는 영향에 대한 수치해석적 연구

본 논문에서는 선박용 디젤엔진의 미세먼지저감 장치에 장착된 다공판 및 믹서의 형상과 배치에 따른 압력강하와 유동균일도 특성에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 미세먼지저감 장치에 장착된 다공판 및 믹서는 미세먼지저감 장치 내의 배출가스 및 산화/환원제의 유동균일도를 높여 배출가스 저감 성능을 높이는 긍정적인 효과와 함께 시스템의 배압을 상승시키는 부정적인 효과도 동시에 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 5개의 다공판, 1개의 믹서를 Case 별로 조합하여 6개의 사양에 대해서 유동해석을 통해 각각 유동균일도 및 압력 강하를 계산하였으며, 최적의 다공판 및 믹서의 형상과 배치를 선정하였다. This study presents the characteristics of a pressure drop and uniformity index for a particulate matter reduction device with a perforated plate and mixer for marine diesel engines. The perforated plate and mixer equipped on the particulate matter reduction device induce an increase of exhaust gas reduction performance by increasing the uniformity index. Whereas, the perforated plate induces pressure drop increases in the particulate matter reduction device. Therefore to calculate the effect of the uniformity index and pressure drop of the perforated plates and mixer, this study combines several cases using five types of perforated plates and one type of mixer. Consequently, these results were analyzed to determine the optimized type and position of the perforated plate and mixer.
플라즈마 버너를 이용한 강제재생방식 시스템 재생제어에 관한 연구 DPF

To meet stringent diesel particulate matter regulations, diesel particulate filter(DPF) system are essential aftertreatment technology. Passive type DPF system is not able to regenerate at all driving condition especially for low load driving conditions. Therefore, this system is necessary to forcibly burn the particulate held in the DPF, followed by active regeneration. This study carried out a estimation of field application of active type DPF system with a plasma assisted burner. Vehicle tests are performed to verify active type DPF system durability for the winter. This study optimizes fuel injection rate to prevent fuel penalty. Also, high filtration efficiency was presented through engine bench test, after 20,000㎞ driving test.

On this particular research, with a goal of developing a light-weight material bumper beam, optimum beam using composite materials in rear bumper was developed with the goal of FMVSS, IIHS, reducing repair cost by improve performance and conflict prevention performance by weight reduction of vehicles. For comparing with the performance of various composite, the optimum specification that was calculated using DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and applied PP-GF45, GMT Plus and HIMT has been determined by constructing a table of orthogonal array and running a crash accordingly. The optimum specification has been reached and approved by comparing performances of the beam using PP-GF45 and the beam using GMT Plus through crash analysis and crash assessment.
