The present study was to investigate the effect of glipizide on the pharmacokinetics of losartan in rats. 인체의 항상성 유지에 필수적인 물질로 알려진 산화질소는 인체를 침입한 미생물로부터 보호하는 면역반응에서 매우 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 산화질소는 미생물에 직간접적으로 작용하여 다양한 기전으로 항균작용을 나타낸다. 항생제의 심각한 내성이 심각한 사회적 문제로 대두되면서 새로운 계열의 항생제 개발이 절실한 시점에서 항균물질로서의 산화질소에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만 매우 짧은 반감기와 기체분자인 산화질소를 항생제로 이용하기 위해서는 산화질소의 저장과 방출을 제어할 전략 필요하다. 본 총설에서는 산화질소의 체내에서의 생화학적 특성과 항균작용을 나타내는 다양한 기전에 대해 설명하였다. 또한 산화질소 방출을 조절하여 항균작용을 향상시키는 최근의 연구에 대해 알아보았다. Nitric oxide (NO), which has been recognized as an integral molecule in maintaining homeostasis, plays an important role in host defense against microbes. NO has diverse antimicrobial mechanisms by directly and/or indirectly interacting with microbes. Under the circumstance that there is an urgent need for a new class of antimicrobial agents due to antibiotic resistance, much effort has been made to develop a NO-based antimicrobial agent. In order to make it possible, strategies to store and release NO in a controlled manner are required because NO has a gaseous property and a very short half-life. In this review, we described NO biochemistry and its mechanisms of antimicrobial activity. In additions, we introduced various NO-releasing systems that improve NO's antimicrobial activity.

The gut microbiome is a critical determinant of human health and disease status. Administration of live microorganisms has emerged as an effective way to recover damaged gut microbiome for improving host health. However, live microorganisms are susceptible to various environmental stresses, including acidic pH during the gastric transit. Thus, appropriate delivery techniques are required to protect the live microorganisms during their transit to the target area and ensure their release at a desired location such as ileum or ascending colon. In this review, we provide an overview of intestinal delivery techniques for live microorganisms.
약물의 in vitro 투과 실험을 위한 사람의 비강점막상피세포 단층막의 일차배양

The primary culture of human nasal epithelial cell monolayer was performed on a Transwell. The effect of various factors on the tight junction formation was observed in order to develop an in vitro experimental system for nasal transport studies. Human nasal epithelial cells, collected from human normal inferior turbinates, were plated onto diverse inserts. After 4 days, media of the apical surface was removed for air-liquid interface (ALI) culture. Morphological characteristics was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A polyester membrane of 0.4 μm pore size was determined as the most effective insert based on the change in the transepithelial electric resistance (TEER) value as well as the ^14C-mannitol transport study. The ALI method was effective in developing the tight junction as observed in the further increase in the TEER value and reduction in the permeability coefficient (P_app) of ^14C-mannitol transport. Results of the transport study of a model drug, budesonide, showed that the primary culture system developed in this study could be further developed and applied for in vitro nasal transport studies.

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy and safety of the anterior vaginal wall sling in the management of women with stress urinary incontinence. Materials and Methods: From January 1998 to December 1999, 42 patients(31 with genuine stress urinary incontinence and 11 with mixed urinary incontinence, 38 with anatomical incontinence and 4 with intrinsic sphincteric deficiency) underwent anterior vaginal wall sling at Yeungnam University Hospital were studied retrospectively. The mean age was 49.3 years(ranging from 34 to 66 years of age) and the mean follow-up period was 29.4 months(ranging from 16 to 40 months). Intra- and postoperative complication, success rate and patient's satisfaction were evaluated. Results: The mean operation time was 79 minutes(ranging from 65 to 124 minutes) and the mean hospital stay was 5.1 days(ranging from 4 to 10 days). Mean postoperative Foley catheter drainage was 2.1 days(ranging from 1 to 5 days). As a complication, bladder perforation occurred in one patient(2.4%), residual urine sensation developed in seven patients(16.7%), and suprapubic pain was complained in five patients(11.9%), which improved gradually. Vaginal epithelial inclusion cyst occurred in one patient(2.4%) at postoperative 31 months. Four(9.4%) patients with de novo instablility were improved by anticholinergics medication. The success rate was 92.9% and 38 patients(90.5%) were satisfied with this procedure. Conclusion: We consider that the anterior vaginal wall sling to be a safe and effective surgical procedure for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence, but a longer follow-up is necessary to determine long term effect.

Foreign bodies in genitourinary tract are common and almost of them are within the bladder. These foreign bodies were inserted of applied for autoerotic, psychiatric, therapeutic, or no definite reasons by the patient. Foreign bodies(a thermometer and a piece of cloth) in the bladder were inserted as a mean of masturbation in two cases, and a cooper wire in the posterior urethra was introduced by iatrogenic causes in one case. In one case, four magnets were inserted into the bladder for the purpose of forceful penile erection. Clinical history, symptom, radiologic study, and endoscopic examination were required to diagnose foreign body. They were easily removed by endoscopic manipulation or open surgical procedure.
요실금 수술후 발생한 요도 폐색에서 외요도구 상방 질벽을 통한 요도 박리술 : 치험 1례 보고 A Case Report

We report our experience with a case of urethrolysis using a transvaginal suprameatal approach without lateral perforation of the urethropelvic ligament. A 43-year-old woman suffered from voiding difficulties such as hesitancy, frequency, urgency, decreased urinary flow, residual urine sensation after Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz operation concurrent with hysterectomy. The results of multidisciplinary work-ups of urethral obstruction such as history, vaginal examination, voiding cystourethrography, urodynamic study, showed that she had urethral obstruction due to a previous operation. Since clean intermittent catheterization and alpha-blocker therapy did not improve her symptoms, suprameatal transvaginal urethrolysis was performed to resolve the symptoms. Postoperative follow-up for 5 months showed that the patient remained free from voiding difficulty in their life. We believe that suprameatal transvaginal urethrolysis is worth attempting for urethral obstruction associated with anti-incontinence surgery.
