Herein, two spironaphthoxazine-based photochromic dyes are synthesized and their dyeing, fastness, and photochromicproperties on nylon fabric are investigated. A novel performance indicator, the photochromic efficiency index (PEI), is proposedto assess the photochromic performance of the synthesized spironaphthoxazine dyes. Using the PEI, the parametersaffecting dyeability and photochromic performance are optimized for efficient photochromic performance, and a pH of 9and temperature range of 80–90 °C are determined as the optimal dyeing conditions. Evidently, 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2]octane improves photocoloration efficiency by inhibiting thermal oxidative degradation via singlet oxygen quenching. Thedye containing a hydroxyl group achieves higher buildup and photochromic performance on the nylon fabric owing to itsincreased affinity in terms of polarity and hydrophilicity. The synthesized dyes exhibit reasonable buildup and photocolorationproperties on nylon fabric, in addition to excellent color fastness to washing, rubbing, and perspiration.

The susceptibility of cellulose acetate fibers to alkaline hydrolysis makes it difficult to ensure high wash fastness,due to restrictions imposed by the application of conventional reduction clearing as an aftertreatment. A series of highwashabilityazo disperse dyes containing a fluorosulfonyl group was synthesized, and their dyeing and fastness properties oncellulose diacetate fibers were investigated. The dyes exhibited reasonable levels of build-up and excellent color fastness onthe cellulose diacetate fibers. Samples subjected to aftertreatments of soaping and hot rinsing, as well as the non-treated dyedsamples, exhibited similarly excellent levels of wash fastness owing to their outstanding wash-off properties. Based on theresults, 4-amino-4'-fluorosulfonylazobenzene disperse dyes can be promising alternatives to high-value-added dyes, as theformer can provide high color fastness on cellulose diacetate without excess wastewater discharge during washing.

The control technology of animatronics is an interesting topic explored in various fields, including engineering, medicine, and art, with ongoing research efforts. The conventional method for controlling the movement of animatronics is to use electric motors installed inside the body. However, this method is difficult to apply when expressing a narrow space inside the body. In this study, a method of using external forces instead of installing mechanical devices inside the body was proposed to control the movement of a thin and long tentacle organism. Specifically, in this study, the joint body of animatronics was made of magnetic metal material so that it could be affected by the force of an externally installed electromagnet. The strength of the electromagnet was controlled by a PID controller to enable real-time control of the position of the animatronics body. In addition, the magnet was made to rotate, and the speed of rotation was changed to create various movements. Through virtual environment simulations, our experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method, showcasing real-time control by users and the creation of animations in various styles.
프탈이미드계 고수세성 아조 분산염료의 합성과 셀룰로스 아세테이트 섬유에 대한 염색성 연구

In disperse dyeing of polyester fibers, reduction clearing is conducted to improve the wet fastness of the dyed material. However, in the case of disperse dyeing of cellulose diacetate fabrics, when reduction clearing is conducted, the acetyl groups in cellulose acetate fibers may be alkali-hydrolyzed, which leads to a deterioration of their characteristic properties. Therefore, the dyed acetate fabrics are usually after-treated with a soaping agent at a relatively low temperature for better wet fastness, although it fails to meet the customer demands. In this study, high-washable phthalimide-based azo disperse dyes were synthesized, and their dyeing and fastness properties on cellulose diacetate fabrics were investigated. In particular, conventional 4-aminoazobenzene dyes containing a nitro group at the 4-position were synthesized to compare their fastness properties on cellulose acetate with those of phthalimide-based azo disperse dyes.

A zinc oxide-based polyurethane (PU) nanocomposite was synthesized using an in-situ polymerization technique,and the structure was confirmed using FT-IR and EDS elemental mapping. XRD, GPC, TGA, UV-visible spectroscopy,UTM, FE-SEM, and HR-TEM were employed to investigate the differences in the physico-chemical properties and structuralmorphology between regular and ZnO-based polyurethane (ZnO-PU). The ZnO-PU exhibited superior thermal and UVprotection properties compared to regular polyurethane. Rheological studies suggest that PU behaves as a non-Newtonianfluid and shows excellent viscoelastic properties suitable for the preparation of composite films. ZnO-PU exhibitedsignificant antimicrobial activity compared to regular polyurethane. The dyeing properties of PET/PU and PET/ZnO-PUrevealed that their partition ratios and color fastness were comparable. The overall results suggest that ZnO-PUnanocomposites can find potential applications as functional elastic materials in the textile industry.
