A 47-year-old woman ingested about 12 mg of colchicine with suicidal intent. Colchicine, a highly poisonous alkaloid, is a commonly used treatment for gout, Bechet's disease, and familial Mediterranean fever. Despite the knowledge of its side effects, the risk of a significant overdose is under-appreciated. She suffered from acute multisystem toxicity, including gastrointestinal disorders, bone marrow suppression, alopecia, and probable pancreatitis, but she ultimately recovered with supportive therapy. We report a case of acute colchicine toxicity from a single overdose with a review of the literature.
노화에 있어서의 영양소 감지 TOR 경로(Nutrient-Sensing TOR Pathway)의 역할

TOR(target of rapamycin)은 모든 진행세포에서 성장과 대사를 조절하는 영양소 인식 단백질 인산화효소(nutrient-sensing protein kinase)로 곤충, 효모, 마우스를 이용한 실험 결과 TOR 신호 전달계는 노화를 조절하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 TOR은 식이제한 시 나타나는 다양한 보호 효과(생명 연장, 노화 관련 질환 발병 억제 등)의 강력한 중계자로 알려졌다. 본 리뷰에서는 TOR 신호 전달계가 어떻게 노화를 지연시키는가에 대해 다루고자 한다. 노화조절인자로서의 TOR 신호전달계 조절 기전 구명은 매우 중요한 연구 분야이며 노화 관련 질환을 타겟으로 한 제약 및 건강기능식품의 개발을 통해 인간 수명 연장의 꿈을 성취하는 것을 조금 더 앞당길 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Purpose: To compare intraoperative and postoperative flap complication rate between the Hansatome Excellus and Zyoptix XP microkeratomes for LASIK surgery. Methods: The intra- and post-operative flap complication rate, in 323 eyes of 167 patients operated on using the Hansatome microkeratome were compared with 260 eyes of 132 patients that were operated on using the Zyoptix XP microkeratome. Results: The Hansatome group showed an intraoperative complication incidence of 2.7% compared to 0.4% for the Zyoptix XP group (p<0.05), but the incidence of postoperative complication was 2.7% in the Zyoptix XP group compared to 0.6% in the Hansatome group (p>0.05). There was no incidence of visually significant complications in either group. Conclusions: The Zyoptix XP showed a significantly decreased intraoperative flap complication rate compared to the Hansatome Excellus microkeratome. The deflection and null balance methods are used for precision force measurement in the precision industry. Since both methods are based on deformation, the performance of the load cell mechanism is important. In this study, the design variables were obtained via the free body diagram of a lever-linked Roberval mechanism (combined with a flexible hinge link and a Roberval mechanism), and the design characteristics were analyzed according to the weight method. Based on the design characteristics, the optimal design was conducted according to the weight method and FEM was used to verify its reliability.

As the modern hydrogen industry develops, storage vessels require high capacity and stability. In general, high-pressure hydrogen gas is used to increase storage properties. However, in the case of this high-pressure hydrogen, it is necessary to reduce the pressure to match the pressure used in the product. Therefore, a pressure reduction process using a regulator is required, and the regulator must always maintain a constant flow rate and pressure even if a change in inlet pressure changes. Therefore, due to the characteristics of the regulator in which the outlet flow rate and pressure must be constant, a robust design must be made. In this study, the design variables of the regulator were defined, the control volume and the piston behavior were obtained, and the outlet pressure and flow rate were simulated through system modeling and compared through experiments.
