Currently, KDA adopted new post-graduated program; advanced education general dentistry(AGD) for 3 years preparation. The AGD program provides the resident the opportunity to deliver the highest quality of comprehensive dental care to the broadest range of the population with a knowledge, comfort, and ease in treating the high risk patient. The purpose of this article is to study the assurance systems of AGD programs in USA and Japan and to suggest a piece of advice whether we choose the way of AGD program assurance system in Korea.

The Continuing Professional Development(CPD) program of Korean dentists had probroms that did not resolve for many years. The primary concern of this study is to examine the problems of the CPD program of Korean dentists and to suggest practical guidelines to resolve such barriers. The findings show that the major barrier for improving CPD program is the lack of total quality management. In order to enhance the CPD program, Special plans and resolutions, such as functional organization, recertification system, pool of verified instructor, and evaluation of CPD program, have been suggested.
해외교육 치과의사의 국내유입에 따른 치과 의료의 질 보장 및 치과의사의 적정수급

The purpose of this study is to analyze the data on the medical personnel education system and license scheme and provide the basic material for an enhanced qualification system. In China, dental education reform has been underway with a view to providing an inclusive basic medical service package to the whole country by 2020. It is also estimated that the number of Korean dental medicine students in China would be fewer. And most of them desire to get a job in China after acquiring the Chinese license, suggesting little prospect of a massive inflow into Korea in the near future. In Japan, students are required to complete a clinical training program for over 1 year after receiving licenses to become an independent practitioner. But they can apply for the Korean preliminary examination without this post-graduation process. For this reason, the quality issue in license effectiveness review has been seriously discussed. It is deemed desirable to limit the Korean accreditation to Japanese graduates from the dental schools certified by the Japanese dental accreditation body.
고농도 포도당이 사람 치주인대세포의 Integrin과 Cathepsin 발현에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

This experiment was designed to clarify the effect of high concentrations of extracellular glucose on the periodontal ligament cells. The cells were incubated for 24 and 48 hours with ${\alpha}-MEM$ including 1,000 mg/L(control group) and 4,500 mg/L(experimental group) of glucose. Then, the expressions of ${\alpha}5$ integrin, cathepsin-B and -L were examined using RT-PCR method. The results were as follows: 1. ${\alpha}5$ integrin expression was increased after incubation in high glucose media. 2. Cathepsin-B expression was increased after the 24-H incubation with high glucose media, but was decreased after the 48-H incubation. 3. The expression of cathepsin-L was decreased by the high glucose media. Theses results suggest that extracellular glucose at high concentration may be attributed to delayed wound healing in diabetes patients through increase in ${\alpha}5$ integrin and decrease in cathepsins, which lead to accumulation of extracellular matrices and adhesion molecules.
고농도 포도당이 뼈모세포와 치주인대세포의 세포자멸사에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

This experiment was designed to clarify the effect of extracellular glucose on the osteoblasts and periodontal ligament cells. The cells were incubated for 24 and 48 hours with ${\alpha}$-MEM including 1,000 mg/L (control group) and 4,500 mg/L (experimental group) of glucose. Then, the expressions of caspase-3, p38 MAPK, JNK-1, and ERK-1 were examined using Elisa assay and Western blot. The results were as follows: 1. The expression of caspase-3 and p38 MAPK was increased by the high extracellular glucose in both cells. 2. The expression of caspase-3 and p38 MAPK was increased greatly in the periodontal ligament cells than the E1 cells by the high extracellular glucose. 3. The expression of JNK-1 was increased by the high extracellular glucose in both cells. 4. The expression of ERK-1 was not changed by the high extracellular glucose in both cells. These results suggest that extracellular glucose at high concentrations may inhibit the periodontal regeneration process increasing cellular apoptosis. And p38 MAPK and JNK-1 pathway may be the most responsible intracellular pathway rather than ERK-1.

간추림 치아주위조직의 재생파정에서 중요한 역항을 하는 것으로 기대되는 무기 인산염의 기전을 알아보기 위해, 무기인산염을 0.001%, 0.002%, 0.005%, 0.0l0%, 0.040% 의 농도로 각각 치아주위인대섬유모세포에 투여하고 24 시간과 48 시간을 배양하연서, 세포 활성능력, 알칼리성 인산효소 활성, 단백질합성능력을 평가한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. polyp 투여 24 시간후, 저농도투durns(0.00l% 및 0.002%) 에서는 대조군에 비해 약 10% 세포활성이 증가하였으나, 고농도투여군 0.02% 및 0.04%) 에서는 대조군에 비해 약 10% 세포활성이 감소하였다. polyp 투여 48 시간 후에는, 대조군과 유사한 세포활성을 보였으나, 고농도투여군에서는 대조군에 비해 약 20% 세포활성이 감소하였다. 2 ALP 활성은 polyp 투여 24 시간 후 및 48 시간 후 모든 농도에서 모두 증가하였으나, 0.04% 투여군에서만 감소하였다. 3 polyp 투여 24 시간 및 48 시간 후 모두에서 단백질 합성은 변화가 없었고, 농도에 따른 차이도 관찰할 수 없었다. 이상의 결과로 보아, 저농도의 FolyP 는 투여 초기에 치아주위인대 섬유모세포의 세포활성을 증가시키며 지속적으로 알칼리성 인산효소 활성을 증가시키지만, 단백질 합성능력에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 생각된다.
