Objectives; The purpose of this study was to investigate and characterize the distribution of Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV) in ROK military bases. Methods; To investigate the distribution, ticks were collected from 55 military bases within the operational area in Gangwon province. The SFTSV was detected by real time reverse transcription PCR and RT nested PCR. The nucleotide sequences and the phylogenetic tree were used in order to confirm and analyze SFTSV. Results; 5,959 ticks were collected from 55 military bases. 5,771 ticks(adult and nymph ticks) were Haemaphysalis longicornis(96.9%), 174 were Haemaphysalis flava(2.9%), and 9 were Ixodes nipponensis(0.15%). SFTSV was confirmed in eight military bases. Genetic and phylogenetic analyses of these sequences revealed that the tick-derived Korean SFTSV strain clustered into the genotype A and B. Conclusions; This findings suggest to build management system from tick collection and classification to SFTSV detection and preventive measures in preventive medicine unit and veterinary team(Division). Based on the collection of the information, the Army and the Armed Forces Medical Command are need to establish a plan of pest control and prevention of disease.
중등 생물교과 심화과정 학습용 웹 기반 학습 프로그램 개발 및 적용

A web-based instruction program for the enriched course under the 7th Revised National Curriculum of Biology in Korea was developed and the application effects to learners were analyzed. For the development of the web-based instruction program, five topics of biology from the enriched courses through 7th to 10th grades in the middle and high school science textbooks were selected and modulated with interrogative sentences. Each topic of programs was divided into four activity sections according to the learners` activity procedures supplemented with explanations and evaluations. Each activity was hyper-linked to multi-layers and animations. Further, a virtual experiment was also developed and an evaluation section designed by Java Script was attached. Among five topics, one topic of `Reproduction and development` at 9th grade level was selected to examine the effects on students` learning. Among 247 9th grade students in the research subject school, only 67 students were able to accessible to ultra-thin Internet cables with their computers at home and they became an experimental group. A control group was assigned to those who are similar level of school science achievement to the experiment group and did not use the web-based program. It was found that most of 9th grade students are able to use Internet at home, however, they do not prefer to use Internet for homework or task project. Rather, most of students used Internet for e-mail or information navigation. Students used internet to solve problems of science and perceived the benefits of Internet for science learning. However, there are not many students to utilize Internet for science homework or task project. Students expressed that they do not prefer to use a web-based learning program for science learning due to lack of interests in science. The effects on students who studied with this program appeared to be significantly high compared to those who did not study with this program. Students who studied with this program positively evaluated this program, in particular, they enjoyed animation effect and virtual experiments. It was concluded that a web-based program for science learning should be developed and distributed through Internet in an attractive and interesting format for students. It was also concluded that various web-based programs for science learning with animation effect and virtual experiments should be developed to increase students` interests in science as well as to improve students` science achievements.
고교 생물의 오버헤드 프로젝터용 필름 제작 및 전달 매체로서의 CD - ROM과 홈페이지의 설계

고등학교 생물교육의 강의 및 학습의 효율증진을 위한 영상매체로써 오버헤드 프로젝터 필름(OHP)을 제작하였으며 이의 전달매체로써 CD-ROM및 웹용 홈페이지를 설계하였다. 본 필름은 제6차 교육과정에 의해 개정된 공통과학 및 생물교과서에 수록된 내용을 총 망라하는 방향에서 천연색으로 제작하였으며 도안의 선명도, 수려성, 청정성, 색상, 명암, 인지도 등에서 내용의 질적 우월성을 시도하였고 교수-학생-내용 상호간의 관련성을 감안하여 학습항진효과를 극대화하는 측면에서 설계되고 제작되었다. 제6차 교육 과정에 의해 개정된 공통과학 및 생물 교과서 7 종에 수록된 내용을 총 망라하는 방향에서 교재를 분석한 후 가장 다빈도로 출현하는 내용을 우선적으로 제작하였다. CD-ROM은 로고(logo), 초기 메인(main), 학습목록, 내용, 종료 등의 화면으로 구성되어 있고 초기 메인 화면은 공통과학, 생물I, 생물II 교과서에 수록된 단원의 내용(장)목록을 제시한 후 내용세부 문항, 실제내용화면으로 하이퍼링크 시켰다. 내용화면은 교과서 내용의 요약, 그림 및 사진과 그 해설, 실험과정 및 결과의 요약, 표에 의한 내용의 정리 등 4가지 형식으로 제작된 필름 화면이 우선적으로 수록되어 있으나, 비디오 영상수취(video capture)에 의한 화면이나 인쇄 버턴, 자료의 설명 또는 해설, 용어해설 등의 버턴과 연결시킨 경우도 있다. OHP파일은 제작시 포토상(Adobe Photoshop) 일러스터레이터(Adobe Illustrator), 클레리스 오피스(Claris Office)를, CD-ROM 은 MM 디렉터(Macromedia Director)를 웹용 홈페이지는 html 에디터(editor)를 주된 소프트웨어로 사용하였다. OHP파일은 스케닝, 그림, 배경, 문자의 입력, 그림의 수식, PICT 또는 PSD 파일로의 저장, JPG 파일로의 변환 등의 순서로 진행되었다. 공통과학 14점, 생물I 80점, 생물II 142점, 총 236점이 제작되었으며 이들의 전달매체로써 CD-ROM 및 웹 홈페이지를 제작하여 이들을 이미 공개된 중학생물과 동일한 주소 즉 http : //gic.kyungpook.ac.kr /biocosmos에 공개하였다. The colorful overhead projector films, named as Bio-cosmos II, including photographs, pictures, concept maps, and diagrams, were developed and manufactured as audio-visual teaching aids and teaching resources for students' biology learning in high school, and the CD-ROM and web sites for their application to the school were also constructed. The content of the films was organized based upon the analysis of seven different biology textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education. The films were designated based on various instructional strategies and manufactured using multimedia with various educational softwares. The CD-ROM was composed of the scenes as logo, initial main, chapters list, contents, and quit. Initial main scene indicated various chapters according to the texts of biology areas in General Science, Biology I, and II. Each chapters linked with the scenes for detailed concept maps, the downstream real subjects, and contents. The subject screens were composed of various types of summarized diagrams including lesson contents, figures, pictures, photographs, and their explanation, experimental procedures and results, tables for summarized contents, and additional animation with video captures, explanations, glossary, etc. Most files were manufactured in software Adobe Photoshop by scanning the pictures, figures and photographs, and then the explanation, modification, storing with PICT or PSD files, and transformation with JPG files, were processed in the aspect of high quality in terms of instructional strategies and graphic skills on gracefulness, clearness, colorfulness, brightness, and distinctness. A 14 films for biology areas in General Science, 80 for Biology I, and 142 for Biology II were manufactured and loaded to the CD-ROM and web site, and the files had been attempted to opened with an Internet home-page of http://gic.kyungpook.ac.kr/biocosmos.
BIO-COSMOS in Silico: 중학 과학교재 생물편의 Overhead Project 용 Film 의 제작 및 응용

Audio-visual aided instruction in middle school science is growing rapidly. Among several multimedia such as video tapes, slides, software, and overhead project. films, the development of overhead project film is supposed to be the most and immediately required item as means of improving the teaching capacity for lecture and experiment under the current situations of facilities. About 200 films covering biology content from the new science textbooks which were published by 8 different companies in 1996, were designed, manufactured and classified with serial numbers according to their grades and characteristics. The films were classified with four different categories; 1) summarized diagram for improving lecture capacity and easier understanding of the contents, 2) schematic figures and pictures including legends, 3) method illustrations for observation, experiment, inquiry, and investigation, and 4) tables for arrangement of the content. The overhead project films were drawn 208 sheets totally which were consisted of 63, 90(animal 50, plant 40), and 55 sheets for ist, 2nd, and 3rd grades, respectively. The emphasized point for designing the films was given to the superiority as means of distinctiveness, gracefulness, purity, color, brightness and shadow, and cognition, The used figures, pictures, legends and tables in this work are applicable to manufacture of various other media like slide films, video, and compact disk titles. People alive a short time if you do not drink water. In particular, water intake is essential to maintain the viability and the combat capability to the battlefield soldiers. Canteen is equipment for providing a personal potable water and Canteen is being used more than 700,000. Canteen has no sanitation standard operating procedures therefore it does not guarantee the safety of canteen water. In this study, we investigate microbial contamination of the canteen water of the week in a month and we would like to present the scientific evidence for hygiene management guidelines of canteen.
