객체 관계형 실시간 DBMS, Tachyon의 데이터 타입과 객체지향 질의 설계 및 구현

본 논문은 객체 관계형 실시간 DBMS인 Tachyon이 제공하는 데이터 타입과 객체지향 질의의 설계 및 구현을 기술한다. Tachyon은 고성능 데이터 처리를 지원하는 객체 관계형 메모리상주 데이터베이스 시스템(Main-memory resident ORDBMS)로 Tachyon의 데이터 타입과 SQL은 ANSI SQL 3 draft를 기반으로 설계 되었으며, 객체 관계형 질의 처리를 위한 OID 데이터 타입을 추가하였다. Tachyon은 클래스 간의 수직적 관계(상속)와 수평적 관계를 정의하고 조작할 수 있는 객체지향 질의를 통하여 융통성 있는 데이터 조작이 가능하며, OID를 기반으로 경로식(path expression)을 이용한 항해 질의(navigational query)를 통하여 죠인(join) 비용을 절감하고, index를 통한 인스턴스 접근 등을 통하여 효율적인 데이터베이스 접근을 시도할 수 있다.
20세기 후반 피아노 음악에 나타나는 포스트모더니즘 경향

This study surveys postmodern features in the late 20th century piano music. The pluralism became apparent as the main characteristics in musical phenomena as well as in other cultural domains. And the aesthetic of double coding was distinct feature. I have discussed these aspects in three frameworks: 1)issues regarding the past practice and historicity, 2)trends toward sensually-oriented music, 3)interest about social communication. Within these categories, I examined some details like musical quotation, juxtaposition of tonal/atonal styles, new approach toward timbre and instrumental practice, repetitive pulse and phase technics in minimalist music, and finally, fusion of highbrow art and lowbrow ones. All of these traits showed how composers seriously had taken the problem of the live issue, that is the drastic gap between the modern music and the listeners. The music after 1970`s have shown evidences which make attempts to restore the situation. Examples comprising these properties were found within the recent piano repertoires.

Mercury mass balance was investigated in Lake An-dong, located in the upper stream of the Nakdong River, to assess the status of mercury pollution by measuring mercury inputs and outputs of the lake. The parameters for mercury input estimation included atmospheric wet deposition (0.52 kg/yr), dry deposition (0.20 kg/yr), river inflow (16.93 kg/yr) and diffusion from lake sediments (0.64 kg/yr). The mercury inputs totaled 18.29 kg/yr, and 92.5% of this total input was attributed to river inflow from the upper stream. Mercury outputs were measured in evasion (0.14 kg/yr), lake outflow (1.92 kg/yr) and sedimentation (45.77 kg/yr), and the total mercury output was estimated to be 47.83 kg/yr. The imbalance between the inputs and outputs of mercury was 29.54 kg/yr, which suggests that there are other missing inputs of mercury to Lake An-dong such as river input during heavy rainfalls and tributary inflow.

Musical gesture is an unit of meaningful communication based of the premise of musical metaphor. When we read music as gesture, musical contents signify expressive meaning. In this essay, the process of conceptualization of musical gesture into human gesture is investigated from the perspective of mimetic motor-imagery and conceptual metaphor. From this foundation, the usage of gesture as signifying unit with direction as well as its implication within the whole structure are examined, since not only each element but also context within time structure can produce specific expressive meaning. The theory of musical topic as space or subject of musical movement is also examined and its relationship with musical narrative is introduced. It is the thrust of this study that narrative, unlike simple story-telling or concept of program, enables the meaningful interpretation in musical analysis by identifying the uniqueness within a musical work and surveying its expressive potential.
