A fire, be it caused intentionally or unintentionally, leads to economic loss and physical damage, and requires digestion. The number of fires is increasing yearly, and electrical fires account for more than 30% among the main causes of fires. Electric wires that catch fire typically employ silicone coatings; silicone has organic as well as inorganic properties. Silicon is a natural, nonexistent, synthetic product with numerous applications. In this study, a silicon rubber for application in wires was prepared by high-temperature vulcanization (HTV) with a Shore A hardness of 70. We report results for the flame retardancy test and the fire safety characteristics via inorganic analysis. For this, a quartz inorganic material was added to the wire specimen, and 18% powdered extinguishing agent ammonium phosphate and expanded vermiculite respectively. Thus, expanded vermiculite showed the best flame retardancy and fire safety characteristics.

A wireless data logging system connected with accelerometer was developed for measuring vibration in harsh environment where conventional vibration equipment could not be used, e.g., on deck of the battleship, surface of the submarine or airplane, etc. To minimize wired connections, the module used a battery to supply power, and the data was recorded by the module itself on the SD card. Data logging was carried out through Arduino. Because the voltage levels of the accelerometers were different, the internal circuits were adjusted by changing the voltage levels through level shifting. Data logging was optimized using the hardware interrupt and double buffering to maintain a constant sampling rate during data logging and to prevent loss of data. The vibration data obtained through the manufactured module was compared with data measured by LMS test to confirm the validity of the signal. It was also confirmed that the module measurement data was normal even during long-time measurements.

Finite element technique considering adhesive forces is proposed and applied to analyze the behavior of elastic hemispherical asperity adhesively contacting the plane surface of semi -infinite rigid body. It is demonstrated that the finite element model simulates interfacial phenomena such as jump -to-contact and adhesion hysteresis that cannot be simulated with the currently available adhesive contact continuum models. This simulation aiso provides valuable information on contact pressure, contact region and stress distributions. This technique is anticipated to be utilized in designing a low-adhesion surface profile for MEMS/NEMS applications since various contact geometries can be analyzed with this technique.
고혈압 환자에서 24 시간 활동 혈압과 좌심실비대와의 상관관계에 대한 연구

Background: 24-hour noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) has been shown to be superior to casual BP in predicting target organ involvement in patients with hypertension and assessing anti-hypertensive therapy. This study was done to examine the relation of BP decline from day to night to the echocardiographic parameters of left ventricular anatomy in unselected hypertensive patients and normotensive subjects undergoing 24-hour noninvasive ABPM. Methods: The effect of variation of blood pressure on the echocardiographic parameters of left ventricular hypertrophy were investigated in 71 consecutive subjects. (47 patients with essential hypertension and 24 healthy normotensive subjects). 24-hour noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and cross-sectional and M-mode echocardiography were done to examine the relation between ABPM and echocardiographic LVH. Results: 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure was lower than casual blood pressure, and weak relation was noted particularly in patients with mild-to-moderate hypertension. The continuous monitoring of BP throughout day shows characteristic circadian pattern. The highest BP was recorded at 10 am and lowest value was at 2 am-4 am. Ambulatory daytime blood pressure (6 am-8pm) was higher 15% than night-time blood pressure (8 pm-6 am), The correlation coefficient of daytime systolic blood pressure was r=0.42 (p<0.01), twenty-four hours systolic BP was r=0.41 (p<0.05). The daytime and 24 hours systolic BP seems to be more closely related to LVH than night-time BP, but the correlation was not high enough in our study. Conclusion: 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is more useful than casual BP in patients with hypertension, and LVH in echocardiography is more closely related to daytime and 24 hours systolic BP than night-time BP.

N/A Ultrasonography has proven useful in evaluating the diagnosis of biliary obstruction and focal disease of the liver. On the other hand, the place of abdominal ultrasound in the diagnosis of diffuse hepatic disease is less clear. In order to evaluate the reliability fo the ultrasonography in the diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal liver idsease, a prospective study was made of ultrasonographic findings in normal liver 62 cases and liver cirrhosis 40 cases. We took 9 ultrasonographical findings for landmarks of ultrasonographic diagnosis in liver cirrhosis; 1) Inferior edge of left lobe 2) Surface of liver 3) Intrahepatic echo pattern 4) Liver-spleen echo contrast 5) Deep attenuation 6) Irregularity of intrahepatic portal vein wall 7) Blurring of hepatic vein 8) Thickness of gallbladder wall 9) Splenic volume (a x b) Using these landmarks, there seemed to be distinct difference between normal liver and liver cirrhosis, except deep attenuation. We concluded that these landmarks were very useful to diagnose liver cirrhosis and the combination of several features provided more diagnostic accuracy than any single echographic finding.

We investigated the usefulness of tumor-associated antigen (TA-4) by a radioimmunoasay method in estimating the extent of disease and tracking the clinical course of disease in 58 patients with cervical cancer. According to our results and those of other authors, the normal range of serum TA-4 was arbitrarily taken to be less than 2 ng/ml. The proportion of the pretreatment positive serum TA-4 level of 48 squamous cell carcinoma patients was $60\%.$ And $40\%$ in 5 adenocarcinoma patients. Advanced disease group showed higher incidence of positive serum TA-4 level; $40\%,\;72\%,\;63\%,\;and\;100\%$ in stage I to IV, respectively. And the absolute values of TA-4 were higher in advanced disease. In patients treated with radiation, elevated serum TA-4 level usually declined after 3000 cGy and further dropped to normal range in $44\%$ after 5000 cGy. The positive rate in primary cervical cancer was $59\%,$ (32/54) and $100\%$ (4/4) in recurrent conical cancer. And 15 patients with recurrent or persistent disease during follow-up revealed $80\%$ positive serum TA-4 level. In conclusion, it would be suggested that serial serum TA-4 measurements may be helpful in tracking the clinical course during and after treatment. 자궁경부암 환자의 병변의 범위 및 임상 경과를 추정하는데 TA-4의 유용성을 검토하고자 충남대학교병원에서 자궁경부암으로 진단 받은 58명의 환자를 대상으로 혈청 TA-4치를 RIA 방법으로 측정하여 $\le2\;ng/ml$을 정상 범위로 정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 치료전 평평상피암 환자의 TA-4의 양성율은 $60\%,$ 선암은 $40\%$였다. 2) 병기가 진행될수록TA-4의 양성율및 평균치가 높아서, 양성율 병기 I는 $40\%,$ II는 $72\%,$ III는 $63\%,$ IV는 $100\%$였으며 평균치는 병기 I에서 3.1, II는 6.6, III는 8, IV는17.7 ng/ml였다. 3) 방사선 치료후 혈청내 TA-4치는 감소하여 5000 cGy 조사후 치료전 양성을 보였던 환자의 $44\%$에서 TA-4치 가 정상으로 돌아왔다. 4) 원발성 자궁경부암 환자의 양성율은 $59\%$였으나 지속성 또는 재발성등 치료에 실패한 15명 환자의 양성율은 $80\%$였다. 이상으로 연속적 혈청내 TA-4치의 측정은 자궁경부암 환자의 방사선치료에 따른 임상 경과를 관찰하는데 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.
