Using the rat’s skull, the study on the biodegradability and guided bone regeneration of the chitosan membrane was performed. The results are as follows: 1. The biodegradability of the chitosan membrane could not be confirmed, but after 12 weeks, this membrane did not yet break into small pieces and there was no specific local tissue reaction. 2. It was not certain whether the pore size of this membrane was affected on osteoblastic activity. 3. After 6 weeks, the bony defect area of rat’s skull was not completely filled, but on high magnification it showed that the osteoclasts and the osteoblasts were observed in the regenerating area. In conclusion, the chitosan membrane developed in this study was fit for guided bone regeneration.

The aim of the study was to investigate the principal symptoms and a syndrome differentiation in the obesity using surveys from Oriental medical doctors and obese patients. Methods : Seventy three Oriental medical doctors who participated in the 2006 autumn annual conference of Korean Oriental Association for Study of Obesity and 243 obese patients responded to the survey. Results : Twenty nine percent of Oriental medical doctors replied that the syndrome differentiation is the most important diagnosis index, and 21 percent of them replied they use Sasang Constitution classification during diagnostic process. The syndrome differentiations used were mainly phlegm-fluid, blood stasis, spleen vacuity, food accumulation, damp phlegm, and Gi deficiency order. In the response of doctors and patients about principle symptoms of 6 syndrom differentiation belong inside 5 place except phlegm fluid and liver stasis Conclusions : We should develop syndrome differentiation questionnaire about obese symptoms.

Objectives The aim of the study was to investigate the difference between pattern identification of premenopausal(n=39) and climacteric(n=40) korean obese and overweight women using Syndrome Differentiation Questionaire. Methods 39 premenopausal obese women(BMI≥25kg/m2) and 40 climacteric overweight and obese women(BMI≥23kg/m2) were recruited from October 2007 to March 2008 in Seoul, Korea. Subjects who had other disease were rejected. Basic anthropometry and body composition were measured. Every subjects were given and filled out the Syndrome Differentiation Questionaire, and we analyzed that using Fisher`s exact test. Results 1. Premenopausal women showed high frequency of food accumulation pattern(43.6%), but in climacteric women, liver qi depression pattern was frequent(57.5%, p=0.021). 2. In weighted Syndrome Differentiation Questionaire score, Premenopausal women showed high frequency of food accumulation pattern(43.6%), but in climacteric women, liver qi depression pattern was frequent(47.5%, p=0.004). 3. There were no correlation between anthropometry and scores of the each patterns. Conclusions In this study, we can find out that the dietary factors play major roles in obesity of premenopausal women and emotional factors in obese climacteric women in the view of oriental pattern identification diagnosis. But it seemed that there lacked of consideration that reflected the degree of obesity in this Syndrome Differentiation Questionaire.

The aim of this study is to confirm clinical usefulness of MCG data by analyzing korea medical results of heart disease patients. We used the Heart Disease Questionnaire which asks for Qi deficiency-pattern, Blood deficiency-pattern, Yin deficiency-pattern, Yang deficiency-pattern, Qi stasis-pattern, Blood stasis-pattern, Heart heat-pattern, Phlegm-pattern. Magnetocardiography(MCG) is the measurement of magnetic fields emitted by the human heart from small currents by electrically active cells of the heart muscle. Comparing the MCG results and korea medical diagnosis, we showed clinical usefulness of MCG results and korea medical diagnosis.

The lateral rhinotomy signifies only an incision and not on operation and a lateral rhinotomy incision with osteotomy of the nasal bones provides access to the entire nasal cavity and maxillary, ethmoid, and sphenoid sinuses as well as the frontal sinus if the floor is removed, permitting removal of benign lesions at these sites and en bloc resection of the ethmoid labyrinth and the party wall between the nasal cavity and antrum with infiltrating tumors. The authors treated a tumor patient and a midfacial bone fracture patient via lateral rhinotomy approach and had a good result. So we report the cases with literature review.

공사비정보와 일정정보는 사업을 관리하는데 있어 매우 중요한 정보로 이들이 연계활용되어야 공정공사비 관리를 원활하게 진행할 수 있다. 그러나 국내의 실정은 공사비가 내역체계 기반으로 관리됨에 따라 설계사에서 작성되어 시설, 부위, 공간 등의 정보를 갖고 있던 수량정보가 내역체계 기반으로 전환되면서 정보들을 상실하고 시공사에서는 다시 물량분개라는 작업을 통해 다시 시설, 부위, 공간 등의 정보를 부여하는 작업이 발생하고 있다. 이에 도로분야 사업을 대상으로 작업분류체계(WBS)를 그 연계방안으로 제시하고 작업분류체계 기반 공사비 작성을 통해 설계사에서 작성된 정보를 시공사에서까지 활용할 수 있도록 하고자 한다. 본 사업에서는 이러한 작업분류체계 공사비 작성을 위한 지원도구 개발을 위해 업무 프로세스 검토, 지원도구 활용 공사비 작성, 시험적용을 통한 지원도구 검증을 수행 할 계획이다. 이를 통해 내역정보와 공정정보의 연계가 실현되고, 효율적인 공사비 관리의 기반을 제공할 수 있다.
프로바이오틱스의 동결보호 및 장관안정성 개선을 위한 첨가제 효과 분석

Current drying and encapsulation methods for probiotics manufacturing are complicate and cost-burdened processes. The aim of this study was to develop a simple ingredient mixture to make probiotic granules via one-step process, providing not only a cryoprotective effect during freezing and drying but also high survival ratio in gastrointestinal tract. As cryoprotectans, commercially available ingredients including skim milk, monosaccharide (trehalose or glycerin), maltodextrins (with low or high degree of equivalents) were used. Their cryoprotective effect during lyophilization and survival ratios in artificial gastric juice and bile salt were measured against 3 strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) (Lactobacillus plantarum, Lb. brevis, and Lactococcus lactis). As results, 3 mixtures with different compositions showed a cryprotective effect on LAB tested and the best compostion was dependant upon LAB; skim milk 10%, trehalose 15%, glycerin 0.5%, and NaCl 1% was for Lb. plantarum and Lc. lactis, and maltodextrin 10% instead of skim milk was for Lb. brevis. In addition, those mixtures showed similar survival effect on LAB tested. These results demonstrate that skim milk or maltodextrins with trehalose, glycerin, and NACl can be effectively used for onestep lyophilization of LAB as an alternative method of encapsulation.

This study was conducted to optim ize the composition of CEM (cabbage extract medium) and cryoprotectants on the growth of Lactobacillus plantarum, a probiotics growing in plant and milk. For this, we analyzed the growth characteristics of Lb. plantarum in CEM and subsequently optimized the medium composition by addition of carbon, nitrogen sources and buffering agents. Among carbon sources, glucose showed the best result to increase the cell density after dilution of CEM. When 0.5% yeast extract and 1% soy peptone were supplemented in the diluted CEM, Lb. plantarum grew up to the maximum cell density. Addition of buffering agents in CEM was not significantly effective to increase the cell density. Meanwhile, addition of 12% skim milk, 5% sucrose and 0.5% glycerol showed a cryoprotective effect against cell damage of Lb. plantarum during freeze drying process showing high survival rate after 150 days. This optimized CEM can be used for economical production of bacterial cells particularly originated from a plant-related ecosystem.
