인천지역 소 부산물의 미생물 및 Pb, Cd 오염도 조사

This study was carried out to investigate the heavy metal and microbiological hazards on by-products (liver, omasum, small intestines) of cattle. From April to October in 2011, one hundred and twenty samples were equally collected from slaughterhouse and meat by-product markets in Incheon city. The total bacteria counts and E. coli count were applied to assess the microbiological quality. Food borne bacteria including Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens and E. coli O157:H7 were also determined. The results were obtained as follows: The undesirable grade (more than 105 CFU/cm2) was detected in the by-product from 18.3% (slaughterhouse) and 23.3% (by-product markets). The frequency of generic E. coli (more than 102 CFU/cm2) from the slaughterhouse was 20.0%, whereas that of the meat by-product markets was 26.7%. Of the samples from slaughterhouse, 3 (5.0%), 5 (8.3%), and 12 (20.0%) samples were contaminated with Salmonella spp, S. aureus, and C. perfringens, respectively. S. aureus and C. perfringens were also detected in 6 (10.0%) and 25 (41.7%) samples in the meat by-product markets, respectively. Nine of 11 S. aureus isolates harbored toxin gene. However, the cpe gene of C. perfringens was not detected among the 37 isolates. The detection rate was higher in August than in February, April and June. The levels of Cd and Pb in all the samples tended to be low (<0.2 mg/kg). This preliminary data could be used for legislation on the regulation and control of microorganism and heavy metal in by-products of cattle.

In order to investigate why OSA (oxic-settling-anaerobic) process produces less sludge than CAS (conventional activated sludge) process, sequential cultivation through 1st aerobic-anaerobic-2nd aerobic conditions, were carried out. Then, the intracellular concentrations of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD and NADH), and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP and NADPH) were monitored for these three stages. Results showed that the concentrations of these energy substances rapidly decreased through time in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions but the anaerobic culture contained the lower energy level than aerobic culture. The 2nd aerobic culture that experienced anaerobic condition showed lower concentration of these energy substances than those of the 1st aerobic culture. Meanwhile, the anaerobic culture corresponding to the sludge holding stage of OSA was subjected to different soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) levels, detention time, and temperature to evaluate the effects of these variations on the energy level difference between the 1st and 2nd aerobic stages. The lower the SCOD concentration, the longer detention time; and the higher temperature in the anaerobic stage tended to further reduce the intracellular level of the 2nd aerobic culture. On the average, the intracellular energy level of the anaerobic and 2nd aerobic stage were 57.73% and 39.12% of the 1st aerobic culture, respectively. These indicated that the insertion of an anaerobic stage between two aerobic stages could lower the intracellular energy levels, hence the lower the sludge in OSA than CAS process. Moreover, manipulation of the operating conditions of the intervening anaerobic stage can change intracellular energy levels thereby controlling sludge production.

This study was performed to investigate the freshness and nutritive components of eggs from Incheon area. The eggs of 64 brands collected from 7 hypermarkets and 6 brands collected from farms were examined to test the Haugh unit (HU), egg yolk index and specific gravity. HU and specific gravity were higher in farm eggs than in hypermarket eggs (P<0.05), and there was no difference in the egg yolk index. Among hypermarket eggs, HU and egg yolk index were higher in the graded eggs than in non-graded eggs (P<0.05), and specific gravity was not different between them. HU and egg yolk index of the eggs collected in March were higher than those in August (P<0.05). To monitor the bacterial contamination, total coliforms, total bacterial counts (TBC) and Salmonella enteritidis were examined. Salmonella enteritidis and total coliforms were not detected from all eggs. TBC of farm eggs were less than 101 CFU/mL in all samples and TBC of hypermarket eggs were less than 101 CFU/mL in 187 samples, 101∼102 CFU/mL in 3 samples and 103∼104 CFU/mL in 2 samples, respectively. Antimicrobial residues were not detected from all eggs tested. The vitamin E contents in the vitamin E enriched eggs from 6 brands hypermarket were 1.98∼22.96 mg/yolk100 g (14.04±8.81 mg/yolk100g), and those of 5 brands among them were higher than the average of ordinary eggs. In one brand egg, vitamin E content was lower than the average of ordinary eggs. The vitamin E contents of ordinary eggs were 1.75∼16.36 mg/yolk100 g (average 5.57±2.76 mg/yolk100 g) and there were no price differences between vitamin E enriched eggs and ordinary eggs. In the contents of vitamin E, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and cholesterol, there were no significant differences according to the price. These results suggests that egg production, distribution, and management system should be improved for supplying fresh eggs to consumers at reasonable prices.

Achalasia is a motility disorder of the esophagus that`s characterized by the loss of inhibitory neurons in the lower esophagus and lower esophageal sphincter. The primary motility disorders of the esophagus are usually considered to include two disease entities: achalasia and diffuse esophageal spasm. These two conditions are part of a spectrum of related motor disorders. Achalasia can change to diffuse esophageal spasm and show the return of peristalsis after balloon dilatation. We experienced a 64-year-old female patient who complained of dysphagia. Achalasia was diagnosed by performing barium esophagography and esophagogastroduodenoscopy, and by the typical esophageal manometric findings. After performing two sessions of balloon dilatation, the basal lower esophageal sphincter pressure decreased and peristalsis of lower esophagus returned. When the patient again complained of dysphagia, the basal lower esophageal sphincter pressure was increased and peristalsis was not seen. Consequently, we could observe the spectrum and natural course of this disease before and after treatment for achalasia. (Kor J Neuro-gastroenterol Motil 2006;12:177-180)

This study intends to investigate today's meaning of parameter between city and college campus in accordance with the physical and functional expansion of city campuses, to speculate the sense of -place, genius-loci, of traditional campus in the process of being integrated with urban structure, and to explore the campus design strategy to mediate between preservation of historic value of the original campus and modernization through urbanization. The argument is focused on the theory of campus planning proposed by Richard P. Dover, with particular emphasis on placemaking and place-marking.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of hyperventilation and hyperoxygenation before and after endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction system on mechanically ventilated patients. Method: We selected 20 patients who were mechanically ventilated and randomly assigned into 4 groups according to the type of treatments using repeated measure. We applied 3 types of treatment, hyperventilation, hyperoxygenation, hyperventilation+hyperoxygenation, and no treatment and measured physiologic effects-SpO_(2), HR and, mena BP. Result: There were no significant differences between the group with no treatment and the group with hyperventilation, before and after endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction system(SpO_(2)(p=.693), HR(p=.970) and mean BP(p=.638)). There were no significant differences between the group with no treatment and the group with hyperoxygenation before and after endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction system(SpO_(2)(p=.693), HR(p=.970) and mean BP(p=.638)). There were no significant differences between the group with no treatment and the group with hyperventilation hyperoxygenation before and after endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction system(SpO_(2)(p=.693), HR(P=.970) and mean BP(P=.638)). Conclusion: As the results, all of the methods, hyperventilation, hyperoxygenation, and hyperventilation hyperoxygenation can be used when nurses apply endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction systems. In case of hypoxemic patients, hyperoxygenation is recommended for prevention of deoxygenation due to endotracheal suctioning using closed-suction systems.
