This study was conducted to investigate agents inducing conidial germination of an entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana KK5. Different chemicals including carbohydrates were mixed with conidia of B. bassiana and incubated on water agar for 12 hours. Fructose, mannose and skim milk were useful for spore germination compared to other chemicals. Bioassays against green peach aphids were conducted with the fungal conidia suspended in 1% fructose, mannose and skim milk. Of them, a mixture of skim milk plus conidia of B. bassiana KK5 showed the highest mortalities against 3 rd instar of green peach aphid.
추출용매에 따른 제주산 황칠나무의 항산화 활성과 지표성분 분석

본 연구는 추출용매에 따른 황칠 잎과 줄기 추출물의 효능탐색을 위해 제주산 황칠 잎과 줄기를 이용하여 항산화 활성 및 지표성분 함량을 조사하였다. 제주산 황칠 에탄올추출물과 열수추출물의 총 폴리페놀함량, 플라보노이드 함량 및 DPPH 라디칼 소거능을 측정한 결과, 총 폴리페놀함량은 잎 100 ℃ 열수추출물에서 38.92 mg TAN/g, 줄기 60 ℃ 열수추출물은 39.97 mg TAN/g 로 열수추출물에서 유의적으로 높은 함량을 나타냈으며, 플라보노이드 함량은 잎 에탄올추출물에서 25.95 mg QUE/g과 줄기 60 ℃ 열수추출물에서 9.68 mg QUE/g으로 나타나 서로 다른 추출용매에서 유의적인 활성을 나타냈다. DPPH 라디칼 소거능 측정 결과, 잎과 줄기 모두 에탄올추출물에서 가장 우수한 DPPH 라디칼 소거 활성을 나타냈으며 또한 SOD, CAT, APX 항산화효소 활성에서도 에탄올추출물에서 유의적인 항산화 활성이 관찰되었다. 황칠의 폴리페놀 성분으로 알려진 hesperidin, chlorogenic acid와 항산화효능과 관련된 salicylic acid에 대한 지표성분 분석 결과, hesperidin과 chlorogenic acid의 함량은 잎, 줄기 모두 에탄올추출물에서 우수한 것으로 관찰되었고, salicylic acid의 함량은 121 ℃ 열수추출물에서 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 제주산 황칠의 유의적인 항산화 효능과 지표성분 함량이 확인되어 향후 제주산 황칠 원료의 제품 표준화를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. In this study, we investigated the variance in the antioxidant activity and marker components of Dendropanax morbifera Leveille by extraction conditions and the consequent efficacy of its leaf and stem extracts. We assessed the total polyphenol and flavonoid content, DPPH radical scavenging activity, antioxidant enzyme activities [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity], and content of marker components (hesperidin, chlorogenic acid, salicylic acid) in the extracts of D. mobifera . Our results showed that the highest total phenolic content was found in the 100 ℃ leaf water extracts and 60 ℃ stem water extracts (38.92, 39.97 mg TAN/g, respectively). The highest flavonoid content was found in the leaf ethanol extracts and 60 ℃ stem water extracts (25.95, 9.68 mg QUE/g, respectively). The ethanol extracts showed the strongest antioxidant activity in the DPPH assay and antioxidant enzyme activities. The marker components determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis showed that the hesperidin and chlorogenic acid content of the ethanol leaf extracts and salicylic acid content of the 121 ℃ water stem extracts were the highest. These results indicate that the extracts of D. mobifera provide promising antioxidant effects and marker components. This provides basic data that can be used for the standardization of extracts in the future.

This study was conducted to test effect of fungicides on the spore germination and mycelial growth of BotaniGard(R)(Beauveria bassiana GHA). Eight fungicides, which are using for plant disease control in cucumber cultivation, with different concentration were mixed with conidia of GHA isolate for 0.5, 2, and 4 hours. The fungicides trifluminazol, fenarimol, ethaboxam, copper hydroxide and tetraconazol did significantly not inhibit on spore germination and mycelial growth. The trifluminazol, propineb and tetraconazol on high concentrations inhibited the mycelial growth of GHA. However, mixing time of fungicide with conidia of GHA did not affect in spore germination and mycelial growth. These results suggest that fungicide effect needed be checked before mycopesticide is applied in the field.

Beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua), diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) and tobacco cutworm (S. litura) are insect pests causing damage in many economically important vegetables in Korea. Bacillus thuringiensis, commonly known as Bt, has been available as an alternative insecticide for many years. Five commercial Bt products and the mixtures evaluate the control efficacy against three kinds of moths. These commercial Bt products had high control efficacy against 2<sup>nd</sup> instar of diamondback moth, but didnt show high mortality against beet armyworm and tobacco cutworm. Mixtures of Bt products didnt have synergistic effects to the tested moths. Also application of twice and four times the recommended concentration didnt improve the control effects against the tested three species of moths.

This study aimed at exploring the relationships of tourist`s motivation and involvement on a destination`s attractiveness by examining the five hypotheses derived from the related literature review. The results showed that tourist`s motivation had a positive influence on the level of involvement and the attractiveness of tourist destination, whereas physical motivation was found to have a negative influence on tour conditions. The level of involvement had a positive relationship with the attractiveness of tourism destination and tourist`s motivation, however, the level of importance was found to have a negative influence on tour conditions. The attractiveness of tourism destination was found to have a positive influence on satisfaction and intention to revisit while the satisfaction had a positive impact on intention to revisit. One limitation of this study to be addressed was that the study did not target the more specific and segmented markets. Second, this study sampled both domestic and overseas tourists for the purpose of convenience of sampling and market analysis. Therefore, in the future research further efforts should be made to develop more systematic framework by sampling specific targets at a specific destination for generalization of findings.

This study was designed to investigate the effect of soybean leaf extract on the development of hepatic steatosis in high fat diet-fed mice. Soybean plants were treated with ethephon to enhance the production of isoflavones in the leaves. The mice were fed with normal chow diet(ND), high fat diet(HFD) or HFD+Soybean leaf extract for 9 weeks. HFD feeding significantly increased the body weight gain and visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue weights compared to ND group in the mice, but these increases were attenuated by Soybean leaf treatment. Soybean leaf also attenuated the increases in hepatic lipid droplet and hepatocellular triglyceride level at 64 days of HFD feeding. Finally, soybean leaf markedly increased the phosphorylation of AMPK and ACC and their protein expression in the liver at 64 days of HFD feeding, while inhibited the increase in fatty acid synthase protein expression. Our results indicate that soybean leaf extract has beneficial effects against hepatic steatosis in HFD-fed mice.

Recently, awareness of animal welfare certified eggs is increasing. The purpose of this study was to (1) find out consumers' perception of animal welfare through emotional analysis keywords. In addition, (2) As the importance of ESG increases, we tried to confirm how it is related to animal welfare. Using a big data analysis service called Sometrend, we analyzed positive and negative terms related to animal welfare keywords, and analyzed the amount and related words of ESG and animal welfare. As a result of the analysis, (1) as the number of animal welfare keywords in 2017 increased compared to 2016, (2) as the number of animal welfare keywords in 2020, 2021, 2022 (January-June) decreased compared to 2017, but the number of news continued to increase, and (3) as a result of positive and negative analysis, the frequency of ESG in 2022 increased. This can be seen that ESG is related to animal welfare.
Beauveria bassiana 대량배양을 위한 탄소원, 질소원 및 고체 기질 선발

For mass production of entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana 149, isolated from moth larva, by two-phase fermentation, we performed selection of carbon and nitrogen sources for liquid culture and examined solid fermentation on carrier, ingredient, temperature, and water content. Spore production with rice powder, corn powder, and starch from sweet potato was higher than that of sucrose and dissolvable starch for liquid fermentation as first-phase fermentation. As a nitrogen source, addition of peptone and yeast powder showed higher spore production than NaNO3, fish powder, and soybean powder. The isolate produced more conidia in sawdust + wheat bran + corn powder, sawdust + wheat bran and rice shell + wheat bran as carrier and ingredient than vermiculite as carrier. Conidia production of B. bassiana 149 in solid-phase fermentation was twice higher at 30 than 20. Conidia yield was higher at 60% and 70% water content (26.9×108 and 38.6×108 conidia/g) than 40% and 50% (13.9×108 and 11.6×108 conidia/g), respectively.
